Luceti Valley - The Second Log

Luceti Valley continued in its own merry little way. The rich got richer, the poor got poorer. A new tax hike had ensured increasing animosity between both groups, despite the protests of the every charitable Lord Mayor. But on the sixth day, something happens and people begin to notice things are unusual. Idle thoughts that if thought about too much is bound to get you a visit to the police station for an hour or so. Or worse, it may just get you committed.

Meanwhile, the asylum continues to gain more and more patients. Those that are trapped there will find escaping difficult, but there may be more to this place than they first assumed...

On the tenth, battle breaks out across Luceti Valley. People begin to exhibit powers and abilities they didn't know they had. The police begin rounding up these people to lock up. If they resist, its bound to come to blows. Even though no one has regained their memories of their true self yet, it becomes apparent that some trickery is afoot, even if they might not know the source or why.


Note: This is the second log! There will be a third and final event log for the aftermath. There will also be two separate logs specifically for finding John and defeating Zompano. For those of you that signed up, we'll be randomizing the results and replying to the selected characters later tonight. In the meantime, keep enjoying the event! I'm alright. It didn't. That isn't how lightbulbs work. It went out, then it came back, then it went out again.

[Kitten tries to figure out how it happened. She was reading, and whistling, and nothing was different than usual except the sound, but that isn't how lightbulbs work either. Or mage globes. Wait, where did those words come from? A storybook?

She whistles again, two notes. On, off.

One note. On. The lights stay on.]

Kitten. You're doing that. [Yet, she's not afraid. Instead moving closer to Kitten as her eyes stare up at the lights.]

[Kitten is torn between apprehension and avid curiosity. The latter wins.] I am! I don't know how, though! It doesn't make any sense at all. I was just whistling the song we learned in music class last week, and it started happening. It's never happened before, and that isn't how electricity works!

No, it's not. [Xzana reaches Kitten and pulls her into a hug.] I don't think you should let anyone know that you can do this Kitten. I don't know why, just - it's a feeling. [And what she's seen happening with some of the police around town lately. Something, something just wasn't right, but she did not want to scare her young niece.]

[She leans into the hug, wrapping her own arms around Xzana, but pulls back to look up at her aunt when she speaks.]

I don't even know what this is, Aunt Xzana! ...I can keep a secret, though. Do you think it's dangerous? What if it happens in music class when I'm at school?

I- I really don't know. It doesn't hurt when you do it, does it?

[As for school. She bites her lip, trying to decide what to do.] In music, could you pretend to whistle?

No! I feel fine.

Do you think singing will do it too? I'm supposed to sing a solo this week, and I don't think I can fake that.

I do not know. Practice your solo now and we shall see.

Alright.

[Kitten begins to sing, and at first everything seems to be fine. But then she gets to a high note, and as she holds it, another sound is just barely audible from the front door, as the lock clicks open.

She stops, gaze darting immediately to the door.]

Was that me too?

[elongatedsmile]

[Xzana doesn't answer right away. Instead walking over to the door and opening it. Making sure that no one was trying to get in. She knew she locked that door. Knew it. She shuts the door again and locks it with a soft click.]

Yes, I think that it was.
