The first step is the one you believe in

Who: Pepper Potts, Tony Stark, and everyone who has gathered there today.
What: A wedding and reception
When: Sept 14, All Day
Where: Cherry Blossom Hill / The Battle Dome
Summary: Pepper and Tony are getting married ~~finally~~ ~~officially~~ finally.
Rating: PG/PG-13 max? There's at least one kid here.
The decorations on the hill are simple ones; they've chosen this spot because it's naturally beautiful without the need for embellishments. Chairs have been set up for the expected guests, with a clear path laid out for the wedding party. And of course up front there is a place for those people to stand, in sight of everyone gathered so Tony won't be able to tell Pepper "I told you so" as color commentary won't be necessary.

After the ceremony everyone will be invited to go to the Battle Dome for the reception. There Tony's programmed an expansive hall with tables and seating enough for everyone. There's also a dance floor, which everyone is encouraged to take advantage of. The atmosphere is warm and vibrant, clearly intended to help all in attendance have a good time. Dinner will be served, and there's an open bar, with rum by request of the officiant.

Just don't get too rowdy, okay kids?

[For some reason, Elizabeth finds that excuse to be very adorable. Technically true, but he'd obviously read her like a book when she'd frozen like that. Thank goodness he could do that, Elizabeth didn't want to hurt him but she just wasn't ready to marry anyone. Luceti was still a new place, she was still trying to convince herself she wouldn't go back to her own world to undo what was done, she and Gai had sworn to protect each other's happiness no matter what the outcome of the shift bomb was. Elizabeth wanted just a little more time to be young, even with all of that being held over her head.]

[She smiles and laughs a little before pressing her forehead to Gai's.] I'm not going anywhere, I'm already yours, I promise.

[Jack joins in laughing, shaking his head emphatically, watching Natasha with an eye that's both reproachful and appreciative.]

All Jacks are not created equal, thank God. Or equivalent.

[Jack hums thoughtfully at that one, rubbing his chin in mock-contemplation.]

Beautiful woman in a dress douses man in a sharp suit in champagne . . . hmmm. You know, I don't know if that's more of a classic cliche or clever rap music video inversion.

[Jack keeps watching the two, and sighs a sigh of relief when something else seems to catch Simon's attention and he (she? no, he, Jack can't see him any other way no matter what chromosomes he has)- he heads off in that direction for the time being.]

We really should have known he'd use the power of bosoms for evil.

Oh, sorry, am I going too fast? I'd hate to leave you behind.

[God, they are the most shameless. It's a good thing the music is too loud for anyone around them to hear much of the conversation clearly. He lets the dance carry on in the same style for a few moments longer to ensure that Teddy has it down pat, then adds a couple steps at the end of the routine.]

Well, if I do - [Teddy has to pause briefly to get a feel of this new part of the routine, eyes glancing down for a moment before he looks at Billy again. Right, that's right, don't look at the feet.]

If I do fall behind, I know you'll help me catch up. I know you, too... You wouldn't want to finish without me.

[Billy's expression is both pleased and proud, and he draws back to send Teddy out for another spin.]

Oh, trust me, I won't be going anywhere unless you're right there with me. It's no fun to leave your partner feeling frustrated.

"I didn't check. Should I check? Is that a thing you want me to be doing right now?"

"Clever woman," she teased, but the banter had served its purpose and some of the tension had bled out of the other woman in the aftermath, which was what Natasha had been after. She pulled away, moved to the table across the room and poured them both a half-glass of champagne. Just enough to take a little of the edge off before the ceremony started, since they had some time to wait. Coming back, she held one out, sinking down across from the bride.

"Here. Cheers to the fact that there is no one else out there like Tony. One's plenty, thanks."

She gave in and grinned, laughter lurking in her eyes at that. "You're welcome." Her gaze softened a hint as she let her gaze wander over the picture he made. "You look wonderful, by the way. Pepper's still got you beat, but that's to be expected of the bride. She's breathtaking, of course. Are you ready for this?" There was genuine curiosity in her gaze as she surveyed him for a moment, a thoughtful consideration of him.

"Good thing," Tony was quick to counter. "Considering this reception is mostly attended by superhumans. I'd hate for you to feel outclassed."

He glanced around the room before his eyes returned to Gai. He almost asked about the skin condition - but he didn't. Instead: "Who's your lady friend?"

"Always. She's a princess of business. A queen, actually, considering she runs the company."

But that was neither here nor there. Tony was more than happy to talk about cars. "She absolutely does. She even has someone to drive her anywhere she wants to go."

"Slow down, Speedy Gonzales," Tony said, holding up a hand. "I'm not joining in. This is all you."

But those were sure some...moves.

He might have been a little less certain of the answer, were he not already married to Pepper in his own heart. "Ready for my breath to be taken away? As long as I don't suffocate at my own wedding, I think we'll be good, yeah."

We probably should. I'm not half as good at Runner Three wrangling as Jody is. Or Janine.

"Have you considered mail-ordering yourself to anyone?" Because he's heard of people doing this.

"I've never met one so bejewledly green," he purred in return. Wow, this dress was padded. But he'd never actually try anything too naughty; not with Buffy as his best lady.

"And your waist is just here, above your hips."

Cheek checking might be necessary. "This is the most bestest tablecloth I've ever worn, you know. Potts-Stark enjoys quality."

Steve grins bashfully and shrugs. He'd much rather be here and be useful than be just another wallflower hanging around. He's taking his position as photographer very seriously because he knows these pictures will represent precious memories for the happy couple.

"Of course. One thing about this village is that the people know when to come together. Besides, you deserve it."

"Yeah, now I can see what she sees in you." He teases in between sips. He's needed a day like this for some time. A day to be happy and be reminded what makes this all worth it.

"You better hang onto her tight. She's a good one. One of the best." He finishes the rest of his drink and set the empty glass down at a nearby table. His expression is a little more serious. "Now I know I probably don't have to tell you this, but I told Pepper I would. If you ever do anything that hurts her...you'll be dealing with me." He pauses for a moment, letting his words sink in. "And that's if Natasha doesn't get to you first."

I have my moments.

[It was either take pictures or offer to do a sketch of the happy couple because he wanted to do more for them than just move tables and chairs around.]

Uh...I draw? Sketch mostly. Mostly scenic things.

[He's checking the lighting of the last picture he took when Natasha appears at his side. He grins and nods in agreement.]

Yeah, she did. I mean I know it took a lot of help from others. But there's something to be said for the person who organized their own wedding in a manner of days.

[Steve glances up, clearly embarrassed at being caught staring at the dance floor. He chuckles nervously and shakes his head.]

Better not. I'm not much of a dancer.

It's fine. You just don't know me yet. [Which is how she's dealing with the whole thing.]

This is really nice though. Though, not enough paparazzi.

Wait-- your taxes or your citizenship or your money? [Elizabeth arches an eyebrow at Jack even harder now. Wow, she hadn't thought marriage was all that complicated. After talking to Jack about what she had been taught about sex, Elizabeth realized that marriage was probably also not solely for the purpose of procreation, or just giving a woman something to do, even. But all of that taxes-citizenship-money stuff sounded positively boring. What on earth did all of that have to do with who you fell in love with? It sounded more like a political marriage.]

But what if you've already promised to always love someone? [Just... hypothetically.] Would a marriage here just be redundant, then...?
