What: A wedding and reception
When: Sept 14, All Day
Where: Cherry Blossom Hill / The Battle Dome
Summary: Pepper and Tony are getting married finally officially finally.
Rating: PG/PG-13 max? There's at least one kid here.
The decorations on the hill are simple ones; they've chosen this spot because it's naturally beautiful without the need for embellishments. Chairs have been set up for the expected guests, with a clear path laid out for the wedding party. And of course up front there is a place for those people to stand, in sight of everyone gathered so Tony won't be able to tell Pepper "I told you so" as color commentary won't be necessary.

After the ceremony everyone will be invited to go to the Battle Dome for the reception. There Tony's programmed an expansive hall with tables and seating enough for everyone. There's also a dance floor, which everyone is encouraged to take advantage of. The atmosphere is warm and vibrant, clearly intended to help all in attendance have a good time. Dinner will be served, and there's an open bar, with rum by request of the officiant.

Just don't get too rowdy, okay kids?

[Steve will spend much of the reception going around and taking pictures of everything and anyone he can. He's taking these photos to give to the newlyweds so he wants them to be the best they can possibly be. At the start of the reception he'll begin by taking pictures of people as they arrive. If you happen to slip by him without getting your picture taken, there's a very good chance that he'll be by your table, camera in hand. You can't avoid him forever.

A few times throughout the reception he'll take a break to eat and mingle. If you happen to be hanging around his table or by the drink table, you'll most likely run into him. He'll be the one eying the dance floor and keeping his distance.]

[Jack's transitioning them through a set that involves moving between media a few times - which probably makes a nice enough shot, his headphones off one ear as he carefully sets the disc in place and drops the needle just as the last track comes to an end. But by the time the croony jazz number comes to life, he's noticed the flashbulb and peeked up with a delighted laugh, closing the lid of the record player before he forgets.]

Pepper got you to be the photographer, even? Wow, she doesn't do things halfway, does she?

[Steve lowers his camera and grins. It was an excellent shot he thinks. Fewer people were starting to come in and so he's turned his attention towards other things. The decorations. The cake. And now and DJ.]

Actually it was my idea. I offered and they didn't have a photographer yet so I figured why not.

It's a pretty brilliant idea, actually.

[There's something completely charming about a man who looks like he could bench press a pony delightedly taking photos of a wedding, and Jack leans in on the table, reaching for the beer a kind samaritan had left him and taking an appreciative swig.]

So tactics, construction, photography . . . any other surprise hobbies?

I have my moments.

[It was either take pictures or offer to do a sketch of the happy couple because he wanted to do more for them than just move tables and chairs around.]

Uh...I draw? Sketch mostly. Mostly scenic things.

Scenic, really.

[He's a little surprised by that - but then again, he hears the word and mostly imagines broad, sweeping landscapes.]

I'd thought you were part of the New York contingent.

I am. I guess when you think scenic, New York isn't really what comes to mind. [He chuckles.]

I guess a better way to put it is that I sketch things that interest me. That can be anything from nature to skyscrapers to...the fountain in the Plaza. Just whatever catches my eye.

It's best that way, right? Just focusing on working where your passion is.

[He grins self-consciously, shrugging one shoulder.]

Or so I hear. I'm not really any kind of artist myself.

I don't think that's something that only applies to artists. No matter what you're doing it should be something you're passionate about. Otherwise what's the point?

[She's been making her way around the reception room, mingling with people she comes across on her way to the refreshment table. Mostly because she's parched and far too sober for a celebration like this. When she spots Steve taking photos, she smiles at the sight because that, that is a wonderful thing to have to remember this day and she's glad someone thought of it and Steve is known for having a good eye,

After retrieving a glass of champagne, she makes her way over to him, unable to help smiling brightly as she pauses beside him.]

Pepper outdid herself. Again.

[He's checking the lighting of the last picture he took when Natasha appears at his side. He grins and nods in agreement.]

Yeah, she did. I mean I know it took a lot of help from others. But there's something to be said for the person who organized their own wedding in a manner of days.

[He's a lot younger here than he is at home and Kate doesn't quite recognize him at first when she approaches the man eying the dance floor. But she's never exactly been good at holding her tongue in front of Captain America. So without quite putting two and two together, she nods in the direction of the couples dancing.]

Y'know, there's no fun in just watching people dance. You've got to get out there and live it up yourself.

[Steve glances up, clearly embarrassed at being caught staring at the dance floor. He chuckles nervously and shakes his head.]

Better not. I'm not much of a dancer.

[tryit]

It really isn't all that hard. [Kate tilts her head, eyeing him with a little bit of doubt.] Especially if you have a partner who's a pro at leading.

[He blinks in surprise and chuckles.] Are you offering?

Really, though, when I say I'm not much of a dancer, I mean I can't dance. At all.

Why not? There are only so many times I can dance with Billy or Teddy without the other interrupting.

[Not that she minds. In her opinion, they're hope for the future that love can persist.

Kate flashes him one of her brightest smiles.] So? Want to give it a shot? I promise, all you'll have to do is follow my lead.

[That receives an honest laugh.] I can imagine. You can't blame them though. [There was a time when all he'd wanted was a chance to dance with Peggy. Even now they still haven't gotten around to it.]

I don't know...I wouldn't want to embarrass you.

[tryit]

[She smiles a little. No, she can't blame them at all. She never would. Billy and Teddy are good together.

At his next words, her grin softens into something a tad more sincere.] You're in luck, then. I don't embarrass easily.

[Growing up in a family like hers? Among the rich and elite of New York? Developing a tough skin was almost necessary.]

[It doesn't seem like she's going to let him evade her. He's starting to think that maybe it would be easier to just let her have her way and get it over with.

But then he remembers that he hasn't even gotten her name yet.]

Let's hope I don't change your mind once I get started. But I think we should introduce ourselves first. I'm Steve. Steve Rogers.

[She's about to hold out her hand in introduction. Provide her name and smile a little coquettishly, just like she would with any cute man met at one of her father's functions. But this is one name that makes her stop short. Her hand is left hanging. Because she's an Avenger (okay, technically a Young Avenger). She knows that name.

What good superhero fangirl in the 21st century wouldn't?]

Holy crap, you're... young!

[Oh shit, did she just hit on Captain America?]

[Steve looks confused by her reaction. He's not any younger than he'd been at the start of their conversation. He goes back through their conversation in his head, searching for something that would explain her reaction. The thing that gives him pause is that she knows Billy and Teddy.

Who happen to be from another world that has another him. Oh. Well...]

Um...thank you. I take it you know who I am?

Uh, yeah.

[She moves that dangling hand up to scratch the back of her thread, hoping that the action makes her look a little less like an awkward idiot. This is possibly worse than the last time she really talked to Captain America for the first time. Telling off the Cap is way better than asking him to dance.

Way to go, Katie.]

I don't think there's a single person where I come from who doesn't know who you are. Granted, you're not really this... [Right. No calling the Cap shy, Bishop.] You look, y'know, older. ...How old are you, by the way?

[He notices her sudden nervousness. Or maybe it's embarrassment. Steve almost wishes he'd introduced himself earlier. Maybe he could have saved her some of the awkward back-lash.]

I turned twenty-six this past July. I don't generally count the years I spent in ice. Seems a little morbid to me. [He's not sure why he mentions that. Maybe he's just looking to share the embarrassment?]

[She chuckles a little at the joke. It's corny and definitely a little bit morbid but somehow it helps to put her at ease. This isn't the Captain America who she had scolded for not providing the Young Avengers with the training they needed. Just like the Hawkeye here wasn't her Clint.

Alternate dimensions. She really is starting to despise them just as much as time traveling.]

I don't blame you. It's not as if you were awake to live them.

[He grins a little in return. She's laughing. That's an improvement.]

So, would I be completely off base to assume you know Teddy and Billy because you're one of their teammates?
