What: A wedding and reception

Where: Cherry Blossom Hill / The Battle Dome
Summary: Pepper and Tony are getting married finally officially finally.
Rating: PG/PG-13 max? There's at least one kid here.
The decorations on the hill are simple ones; they've chosen this spot because it's naturally beautiful without the need for embellishments. Chairs have been set up for the expected guests, with a clear path laid out for the wedding party. And of course up front there is a place for those people to stand, in sight of everyone gathered so Tony won't be able to tell Pepper "I told you so" as color commentary won't be necessary.

After the ceremony everyone will be invited to go to the Battle Dome for the reception. There Tony's programmed an expansive hall with tables and seating enough for everyone. There's also a dance floor, which everyone is encouraged to take advantage of. The atmosphere is warm and vibrant, clearly intended to help all in attendance have a good time. Dinner will be served, and there's an open bar, with rum by request of the officiant.

Just don't get too rowdy, okay kids?

Seriously. I'm too young to get into clubs anyway. Besides, the fancy stuff is gorgeous! Have you ever seen an acrobatic tango?

God, I wish. But I need a willing partner to throw me around to even try it, and Teddy's not as into dancing.

...He isn't?

Well, it's not like he's totally unwilling. If I asked him, he'd probably try it. But I wouldn't want to force him to do something he's not interested in, especially for this. A dance like that would take hours and hours of practice.

[herotypical]

You should compromise it. Find something you're not all that hot about, and trade it for a few dance lessons. [ because buffy summers is all about the relationship economy. ]

[selfhelp]

[Hmmm. Sounds good in theory.]

I don't know what I'd have to do to convince him to try it out, but... I guess it's worth a shot. The worst he can do is say no.

Nothing ventured; nothing gained.

[ and with so prim a verdict, she slipped her hands in his and dared to lead him into the first few steps of a dance. ]

[He grins and nods, accepting her leadership and moving easily with her. He's done both roles by now, so he's pretty used to it. Even if his leading partner usually isn't so short.]

...You're pretty close with Tony, aren't you?

[ the question is quiet as they whirl away from the floor's centre. ]

[That makes Billy pause, though he doesn't quite miss a step.]

We're friends, yeah.

[Confidentiality between patient and therapist-kinda-sorta makes everything else a big secret.]

[ don't worry, she's not planning to get invasive.

at least, not overly so -- ] And -- if I'm not mistaken -- you know him from home but not the same him, or something like that?

[He's still iffy about the direction of this conversation, but at least this is familiar ground to him.]

Yeah, it's... alternate-reality, I guess? The Tony Stark of my world is really different from the guy I know here.

[And then, more tentatively, he adds:]

Why, has he told you about it?

[herotypical]

In passing. [ she leaps upon his tentativeness. ] Nothing dire. Just, y'know, conversation between friends.

[selfhelp]

[It's not like he'd expected Tony to have told her more, but... well, it's a relief. He relaxes at once, his smile returning.]

That makes sense. He doesn't really like to be compared to some version of him that he doesn't even know.

[herotypical]

I wouldn't blame him. Hell, sometimes it's hard enough being compared to your own version.

[ at least, buffy feels a lot of concern on that point. on living up to her own legacy. ]

God, I can only imagine. I'm thanking my lucky stars that I apparently don't have any alternates, at least so far. Though with the way my team keeps avoiding talking about the future, I keep wondering what the heck happens to me.

...In my experience? It's a mystery usually better left unsolved.

Hence why I haven't started begging my brother to tell me what I'm missing. Though knowing him, he'd just say something annoyingly cryptic and zip off before I could ask again.

Yeah, just this month. After a whole year he just shows up out of the blue... typical Luceti. Or typical him, I guess.
