The first step is the one you believe in

Who: Pepper Potts, Tony Stark, and everyone who has gathered there today.
What: A wedding and reception
When: Sept 14, All Day
Where: Cherry Blossom Hill / The Battle Dome
Summary: Pepper and Tony are getting married finally officially finally.
Rating: PG/PG-13 max? There's at least one kid here.
The decorations on the hill are simple ones; they've chosen this spot because it's naturally beautiful without the need for embellishments. Chairs have been set up for the expected guests, with a clear path laid out for the wedding party. And of course up front there is a place for those people to stand, in sight of everyone gathered so Tony won't be able to tell Pepper "I told you so" as color commentary won't be necessary.

After the ceremony everyone will be invited to go to the Battle Dome for the reception. There Tony's programmed an expansive hall with tables and seating enough for everyone. There's also a dance floor, which everyone is encouraged to take advantage of. The atmosphere is warm and vibrant, clearly intended to help all in attendance have a good time. Dinner will be served, and there's an open bar, with rum by request of the officiant.

Just don't get too rowdy, okay kids?

{{ooc: Visual references and details can be found here. Link is very image heavy. There will be separate threads for before the ceremony, during, and the reception.

EDIT: Now with a sign up to catch the bouquet!}}

[As productive as ever, Eugene hadn't been able to miss out on Vastra's presence, still feeling an odd sort of attachment to her-- of the parent-to-child variety, even if after all was said and done and they were back to their own minds and roles. So he'd taken efforts to help her, likely been scolded off by her if he gets in the way or tries to be too helpful.]

See, now this is what you meant by dressing up nice? You look great.

[And, since the cake had been cut into, Eugene was taking the initiative in making sure Vastra got a piece. Or at least, to offer it to her in case she couldn't eat dairy goods]

Kind of sad this isn't my wedding, heh.
eversohungry: (I shant be needing dinner)

[personal profile] eversohungry 2013-09-17 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
[Vastra's glad to see Eugene enjoying the party now, she had to shoo him off of plate-duty and make him dance with Jack. But she'll accept the cake at least.]

And why is that? You've had a few wonderful months with Jack, haven't you?

You can't say you wouldn't have enjoyed planning mine and Jack's wedding.

[He had plans to dance with Jack, it had been too long, and he'd make sure Vastra knew when they'd be doing it. There was a moment he wondered about Vastra, if she were perhaps living vicariously through them or attempting to cover up her own sadness at being here alone without... Being alone here would certainly make him a bitter person, and he wouldn't wish that on anyone.]

We should... have tea sometime. I'll come round to yours.
eversohungry: (The Doctor is not kind)

[personal profile] eversohungry 2013-09-22 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
No I cannot say that. I would have very much enjoyed it, but you would have hated me by the end of it Eugene. [She laughs and grins at him, completely unaware that Eugene has more or less nailed Vastra's delight in watching young people in love. She was sad and lonely, but she liked watching people who deserved happiness commit to one another. Jenny would have loved it too.]

[The transition seems a little odd, and Vastra nearly loses her smile trying to parse it out. But she eventually nods.]
Of course, any time you like.

I don't know about hate but I'd be glad it was over when it was. [Enough melancholy thoughts, she'd agreed to have tea with him and she was here, having what he presumed was a good time. Which prompted him to then glance around before leaning in a little closer]

Well, since it's not my wedding and you're here enjoying yourself, how about a dance? We're both on the working side of things, I doubt anyone would judge you for one dance at least.

[He might even give the servers a break from her watchful eye. They'd appreciate a brief break]
eversohungry: (she's definitely a girl)

[personal profile] eversohungry 2013-09-23 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
I thought you'd never ask. Jack has already given his poor 'mother' a dance, I could only hope you would do the same soon enough. Even if you would be glad to be done with a wedding I had planned. [She smirks and offers him her hand.]
z_jay: (All dressed up)

[personal profile] z_jay 2013-09-23 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
[His grin was sincere as he took her hand and led her away and on to the dance floor.]

Only because it would be extravagant and probably exquisite. I dunno, I like some pomp and circumstance, but in the end, me and Jack are just two fairly average guys. I'd be happy with a simple wedding.

[A simple wedding that Vastra was involved in would be... perfect, actually. Not that he was... was planning on it or anything. He and Jack were married before it was cool to be married]

Simple, yet elegant...
eversohungry: (It always begins with the same two words)

[personal profile] eversohungry 2013-09-28 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Elegant and simple is the fashion nowadays, I suppose. [Vastra smiles faintly as she pulls Eugene into the waltz position and starts them off.]

I don't suppose I ever told you what my wedding was like. But it was very simple as well. I wouldn't call it elegant, but I've never forgotten it. So it must have held some power, not being weighed down by... frills, and menus, and what the bridesmaids should wear.

[It was not often he was pulled by a lead, but he could fall into step easily enough. With a fair amount of confidence, in fact. It was nice to have a strong, lovely lady like Vastra to dance with. And he let her know that with the smile that wasn't entirely abashed shown her way]

I didn't think you'd be the lady so wrapped up in details or... frivolous stuff. When it comes right down to it, the things that matter are there. Right? No need to decorate those.

[he did make an effort to hedge their way closer to the cake. Now much more eaten into, but still there]

What about rings?
eversohungry: (was I being insensitive)

[personal profile] eversohungry 2013-10-01 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, rings are very important. [Vastra smiles and shows Eugene her left hand. Sure enough, there's a plain gold band on her ring finger.]

The Egyptians believed that there was a vein in the fourth finger of the left hand that went directly to the heart. And while perhaps that is not strictly true, it is romantic enough even for me.
z_jay: (Bashful)

[personal profile] z_jay 2013-10-05 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Directly to the heart, huh?

[Even if it might not be strictly true, there was something to be said for the sentiment behind it. A ring, he'd seen Pepper and Tony's rings and it had gotten some cogs starting in his own head. He and Jack had something to link them to Zevran, but... to each other? It was their radio show, but even that had taken a back seat...]

Did the ring come with you from your world?
eversohungry: (was I being insensitive)

[personal profile] eversohungry 2013-10-06 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
Fortunately. It was with my clothes. [She looks at it wistfully for a moment, then replaces her hand on Eugene's shoulder.] It has made my separation from her a little more bearable.
z_jay: (Security is key)

Y'know what else might help is some cake.

[Worry would do no good if he kept on searching for a response that she was likely to keep most private. He could respect that and the strength she showed despite the adversity. Drawing in closer, he smiled and remembered when he had to huddle with her, to give her warmth. What seemed like many shifts ago]

Promise me you'll have a piece. Tell me if it's up to snuff.
