What: A wedding and reception
When: Sept 14, All Day
Where: Cherry Blossom Hill / The Battle Dome
Summary: Pepper and Tony are getting married finally officially finally.
Rating: PG/PG-13 max? There's at least one kid here.
The decorations on the hill are simple ones; they've chosen this spot because it's naturally beautiful without the need for embellishments. Chairs have been set up for the expected guests, with a clear path laid out for the wedding party. And of course up front there is a place for those people to stand, in sight of everyone gathered so Tony won't be able to tell Pepper "I told you so" as color commentary won't be necessary.

After the ceremony everyone will be invited to go to the Battle Dome for the reception. There Tony's programmed an expansive hall with tables and seating enough for everyone. There's also a dance floor, which everyone is encouraged to take advantage of. The atmosphere is warm and vibrant, clearly intended to help all in attendance have a good time. Dinner will be served, and there's an open bar, with rum by request of the officiant.

Just don't get too rowdy, okay kids?

Alas, Suki, this Slayer was once the woman in charge of planning your engagement party. But she'll stay mum on that subject for as long as is necessary -- understanding that previous entanglements can be sore spots. For now, she focused on taking the compliment with lots of grace and ego-boosting. Buffy gave a playful bow.

"All but the groom, I'd like to think." Because Tony looked very spiff and it warranted pointing out. "Though Jack usually looked more put-together for weddings. I have no idea how he forgot his pants, today. My money says he did it on purpose."

A beat, then: "You sure know how to rock green."

"Trust me. You looked better than he did, or ever will." Someone clearly does not like Jack at all, and doesn't even care to hide it. Suki even glared in his general direction.

But her comment made her smile. "Thanks. I like to think that it's my color."

"Yikes," she commented -- just a little deadpan. "What'd he do now? 'Cause I know that look. That look is no good."

"He was just rude to me." She crossed her arms over her chest. "Really bad first impression."

"Y-yeah. He kinda...mucked that one up with me, too. You probably think I'm an idiot for being so hung up on him."

She gave Buffy a look. "I do question it. What did he do to win you over?"

"...Do you want the long version or the short?"

"Maybe the short one? I'd hate to take up all your time right now. Maybe if we weren't at a wedding."

For a moment, her attention slipped across the room. She stared -- briefly -- at the man in question. Certainly, he was making a fool of himself. Certainly, Buffy felt some knee-jerk instinct for second-hand embarrassment.

"Hm. The short version. Let's see. He's a far better man than he wants us all to think he is." He died for someone -- someone very important to me. "He's more loyal than I deserve, probably. But most of all? I've never felt so wonderfully normal as I do when I'm with him. I'm not Buffy the Vampire Slayer or the World Saver or the College Drop-Out or the anything else. I'm just...me."

Suki's glare at him turned into a more sincere one. She gave Buffy a smile.

"He is really good at hiding that better man part of himself." She laughed. "I'm not saying I don't believe you, but I just haven't seen it yet. That does sound sweet though. You're relationship with him."

"I'm not sure I've ever had anything like it."

This relationship -- it was strange and scary. And long. Longer, by far, than any relationship she'd previously experienced. And how novel to not have to worry about all the little things. About the loss of souls, about the threat of violence, or about where to find normality. "For what it's worth? Whatever he did or said, I'm sorry. I'm fully aware of how much of an ass he can be. I think we went a whole year where I hated his breathing guts."

Suki just smiled.

"He just said some sexist thing, then just ran away when Sokka and I told him we weren't together anymore. I think that was the most awkward part of the conversation."

"...Whoops. Sorry. That was probably my fault. I never actually passed on the gossip about you two. So he probably -- hah. That must have been a bit awkward."
