House of M - The Beginning

Who: Billy Kaplan + Anyone who wants to be involved in the House of M Plot + Related CR + Anyone Really
What: Um. The House of M Plot.
When: October 1st-7th
Where: Literally anywhere in Luceti, yo
Summary: Billy returns from a kidnapping feeling a bit, er, different. A white light envelops the village for just a moment, and when it fades... well. All kinds of things are different, actually.
Rating: Varies, anything above R take it elsewhere!

Still accepting last minute sign-ups, if anyone is interested.

It starts off so innocently, early on the morning of October 1st. A burst of light, a warm rush of energy that consumes everything it touches, and it's gentle enough to feel like stepping out into sunlight from the shade. It's so brief that some people might not even notice it happened. But there are certainly... differences. Some subtle, some not. And those changed won't even understand the problem.

After all, why would perfection be a problem?

The truth is, there are no problems. There can't be. It's perfect, Billy thinks. Believes it. His belief is his reality, and now, it's their reality. It all has to be perfect; they deserve it, all of them, for one reason or another. And he'll do whatever he has to protect that perfection from being tainted, ruined, taken away from them.

Teddy died so this could happen, after all.

So what is your new reality?

[Loki drops by, Anja held easily in one arm. She's a bit too young for playdates, perhaps, but he thinks Auntie Vastra might like a visit...]
eversohungry: (I shant be needing dinner)

[Auntie Vastra always wants a visit. Her profession is practically Visiting now.]

Darling, that's not a real train, let Mum answer the door-- [When Vastra opens the door, Thomas is hanging off the back of her bustle with both hands and she looks a little hassled. But she immediately brightens when she sees Loki with Anja.]

Loki! Come in, please come in!

[She opens the door wider, backing up and trying not to knock Thomas backwards at the same time.]

Giving Rogue a bit of an afternoon off? [Then over her shoulder:] My dear, Loki is here with Anja!

"I practically had to wrestle the baby away from her," Loki said, grinning. "But I wager she'll be taking a nap by the time we get back home. We," he gave the baby in his arm a calculating look, "seem to be teething."
eversohungry: (oh stop it)

Vastra grinned back as she closed the door after Loki. "Oh are we? How exciting--solid food is on the horizon, Anja."

"I'll be right in, Loki, I'm just putting on the kettle!" Jenny's thick Cockney accent came out of the kitchen, Vastra's wife apparently already in full Hospitality Mode and pulling together something to feed Loki. "Does the little love need something to bite on?"

"We've already discovered bananas," he commented. "Only she doesn't really seem to want to eat them so much as absorb them through her hair." He was fairly certain he didn't do any of that nonsense when he was a baby.

"My thanks, Jenny. And yes, if you've anything that could stand a bit of drool, otherwise she might try to chew on your furniture." He supposed a grin. "She might try anyway, really."
eversohungry: (And this is my wife)

"Well, we caught Tom-Tom bouncing on the sofa again yesterday, I think it can take whatever Anja has in for it," Jenny said, coming out of the kitchen with an apron on. She lifted Thomas off of Vastra's bustle, looking momentarily shocked by what the child weighed. Vastra had a tendency to just pick him up as though he were still tiny, and Jenny had a tendency to forget her wife was slightly stronger by nature. Thomas squirmed in protest and Jenny let him go so he could get his maps of Luceti--probably to show Uncle Loki. "Got a towel chilling in the ice box, I'll pop it out in a few."

"Shall we, then?" Vastra gestured to a cozy little sitting area with the aforementioned sofa. "I am glad to hear that Mother is doing well, but how is Father doing? Exhausted?"

"My thanks, Jenny." Loki followed Vastra. Once over by the couch, he set Anja down on the floor, intending to let her crawl around a bit.

"Oh, you know I'm made of sterner stuff," Loki said, then flopped down on the couch. "In a word, yes, utterly. Ruling an entire realm is easier than trying to keep up with an infant, I swear."
eversohungry: (And this is my wife)

"Oh it's no trouble dear," Jenny smiled and took a seat in the chair next to Vastra's. No point in watching the kettle, it would whistle when it was ready. Tom, meanwhile, had fetched his maps but was far more fascinated by watching Anja crawl.

"Well, she is your infant, Loki. I would be very worried if she didn't display the same tendencies you do."

"And, generally speaking, most of the people you look after are adults, aren't they? Capable of lookin' after themselves."

"Well, let's not get carried away, my dear."

Loki eyed the maps with a certain resignation. He'd already seen everything the boy owned, he thought, but he was still going to take a shot at being encouraging when the inevitable show and tell came. His skills at politics and poker served him well when it came to dealing with childish enthusiasm.

"We should all just feel lucky she takes after her mother in looks." Though he was pretty enough and knew it, he would have felt a bit disturbed if Anja had come out blue.

He laughed. "Adults, yes. Capable? No. I'm lucky to have such dedicated ministers, since I don't think I could stand the endless boredom of grown warriors who can't figure out how to wipe their own noses." He might start stabbing people again, and Rogue wouldn't like that. She didn't quite seem to understand or accept that a king got to stab whoever he bloody well felt like stabbing.
