Summary: Billy returns from a kidnapping feeling a bit, er, different. A white light envelops the village for just a moment, and when it fades... well. All kinds of things are different, actually.
Rating: Varies, anything above R take it elsewhere!

It starts off so innocently, early on the morning of October 1st. A burst of light, a warm rush of energy that consumes everything it touches, and it's gentle enough to feel like stepping out into sunlight from the shade. It's so brief that some people might not even notice it happened. But there are certainly... differences. Some subtle, some not. And those changed won't even understand the problem.

After all, why would perfection be a problem?

The truth is, there are no problems. There can't be. It's perfect, Billy thinks. Believes it. His belief is his reality, and now, it's their reality. It all has to be perfect; they deserve it, all of them, for one reason or another. And he'll do whatever he has to protect that perfection from being tainted, ruined, taken away from them.

Teddy died so this could happen, after all.

[ He drops onto the couch beside his brother, dropping the book on his lap. ] I'm getting all this holiday crap out of the way before all the good stuff is snagged.

[ UNCERTAINLY MAYBE HE WAS JUST SCUBA-DIVING FOR MEANING. He skims through the book. ]

These myths have a lot of badass female archers, don't they? [ Maybe it's a dumb idea is it a dumb idea what is spontaneous gift-giving when there's no dollar value on things. ]

[Billy takes it back, perusing the index to see what's there. It's not... bad. In that sense it's thoughtful. Tommy's just a little rusty on the whole courteous gift-giving thing.]

There are, yeah. But Kate's more of an action girl than a big reader. Are you taking her out?

Of course. Can't miss date night.

Well, what are you doing for it?

Maybe a movie? [ She probably doesn't want to go training. ] Or a picnic.

Work the book into a date night with a theme. Find a movie with a badass lady. Archer bit's optional but ideal. Or even take the mythology route. If she likes it, you'll know that the book's a good choice.

[ rubbing a hand over the back of his neck. ]

Yeah, yeah. [ God. ] You and Teddy make this sappy, perfect couple thing look so easy.

[Billy doesn't answer for a long moment. He glances over his shoulder - Teddy's there, because he's never far anymore, he can never leave again - but it's... different. It feels strange when this Teddy touches him. They aren't particularly sappy right now.

But it's perfect, isn't it? Everything's perfect. It has to be.]

...We've... had practice. You'll get there. You're doing fine, Tommy.

[dickmoves]

[ He gives a lazy wave to Teddy. This Tommy isn't particularly bothered by sharing soul-secrets with his brother, the boyfriend might as well be a wall fixture that sometimes makes annoying comments. ]

I just want to make her feel special. [ Because she is and even if he'd rather be a coy asshole about telling her, she should know it. ] Anyway. Thanks for the tip, Bro. [ He ruffles Billy's hair obnoxiously. ]

[The ruffle makes Billy smile rather than feel exasperated, and he nudges Tommy with an elbow in response. For them to be actual brothers in Tommy's perfect world is more heartwarming than he can ever safely admit, so he fully intends to appreciate it silently as much as he can.]

Kate knows you well enough, she understands. But it does help when you tell her by doing stuff like this.
