House of M - The Beginning

Who: Billy Kaplan + Anyone who wants to be involved in the House of M Plot + Related CR + Anyone Really
What: Um. The House of M Plot.
When: October 1st-7th
Where: Literally anywhere in Luceti, yo
Summary: Billy returns from a kidnapping feeling a bit, er, different. A white light envelops the village for just a moment, and when it fades... well. All kinds of things are different, actually.
Rating: Varies, anything above R take it elsewhere!

Still accepting last minute sign-ups, if anyone is interested.

It starts off so innocently, early on the morning of October 1st. A burst of light, a warm rush of energy that consumes everything it touches, and it's gentle enough to feel like stepping out into sunlight from the shade. It's so brief that some people might not even notice it happened. But there are certainly... differences. Some subtle, some not. And those changed won't even understand the problem.

After all, why would perfection be a problem?

The truth is, there are no problems. There can't be. It's perfect, Billy thinks. Believes it. His belief is his reality, and now, it's their reality. It all has to be perfect; they deserve it, all of them, for one reason or another. And he'll do whatever he has to protect that perfection from being tainted, ruined, taken away from them.

Teddy died so this could happen, after all.

So what is your new reality?

“Horns?” Pepper arched an eyebrow as she considered it, then shook her head. “I think you’re underestimating just what would look flattering on you.”

The vanishing paper didn’t get so much as a second glance; magic was of course something that existed in this world, and Pepper had no issue with it. To such a degree, in fact, that Rogue’s insistence had her curious. “Really? That’s a little surprising.” Then again, look at how much effort Pepper had put into researching medicines and treatments before letting them anywhere near Susanna.

“Oh, I’m sure she’ll find a way. They always do. Don’t you, sweetie?” Pepper smiled down at the baby again, delighted by how she gurgled in reply.

"It's not supposed to look flattering. It's supposed to be intimidating." He grinned.

He shrugged. "I suppose it's all a bit strange if you haven't grown up around it. My mother was quite the sorceress. Is, rather." Since things had gone so well, he was back to being his mother's favorite son.

"Always." His smile became ridiculously paternal for a moment. He was happy, happier than he'd been in centuries. "I hear I ought to store it up for when she breaks my heart later."

“The terror of every tea party?”  Someone’s priorities were skewed, although Pepper still favored Loki with a teasing grin of her own.  All too soon he’d learn just how a daughter’s charms would have him act the perfect princess if that was what Anja wanted.

He made a fair point, though.  Pepper hadn’t exactly adjusted to the presence of magic well until she embraced it for herself, taking advantage of Luceti’s spirits to learn some basic Shifting techniques.  It came in handy when there were scraped knees or bruised elbows.  “Well, hopefully the medicine works out for you.”

Oh, but she knew that look he wore.  Pepper had seen it on Tony’s face, time and time again, every time he realized that he was a father.  “Sounds like good advice to me.”  She stepped closer to Loki, silently offering to hand Anja back if he was ready to take her.  “Especially considering who her parents are.”

"The most terrible." He laughed. It was really more that horns were his signature. "And Anja quite likes my helmet. Maybe she'll do me a version with flowers on it when she's a bit older." It would look utterly ridiculous.

He took his daughter back, smiling at her for a moment, a warm and open expression that still seemed almost alien to his face: true happiness. "Thank you for your help, Pepper. And I don't know what you're implying. I was a lovely child, and I'm sure Rogue was too."
