[It's October 10th and birthday preparations in the Uzumaki household have been finalized. Since Naruto had invited the whole village and there's no way that many people could fit inside their house, they opted for making the back garden party-ready instead.

Picnic tables have been set up outside, decorated with confetti. There are separate ones that hold all the food and drinks, and the entire garden has been decorated with balloons and streamers.]

That does sound pretty interesting. But what is it you do that brings you into contact with gods and sea monks?

Me and my classmates are exorcists, and we were the ones on hand to handle that kraken's attack on the shore.

Exorcists? That's a hefty occupation for a young man like you. But...do you not wear your robes of office here?

[She's got some pretty old school ideas of what an exorcist is.]

Uh... I got a uniform, yeah. But I don't usually wear it around. ...Shiemi and I are still in training, honestly.

Oh, ah, that makes sense. How long until you're fully ordained?

Whenever we graduate but in my case... I'm pretty sure once I get home I've gotta take the exam within a year.

Why's that?

Some circumstances. Sorry, I don't really wanna get into that at a party.

Oh, sure. [Must be sensitive.]

So, you're friends with Naruto?

Uh... sorta. I mean, I've met the guy, but he didn't even recognize me next time.

That seems normal for him. His mother is a friend of mine, and I only know him in passing.

If you only sort of know him, then how can you know that about 'em though?

He takes after his mother, and she wears her emotions on her sleeve.

Oh... yeah, that makes sense. [He nods, even] Anyway, yeah, that's why I'm here- Shiemi wanted to come and wanted me to make some ramen with vegetables in it, so I figured I might as well come too.

That's fair. I thought much the same, and I guessed that Kushina would like it. So...that was why I came.

Regardless, it's nice to meet you, Rin. But I think perhaps we should go mingle a bit more, don't you?
