[Sure, people can stick to their own rooms and everything, but the problem is that unless they're willing to climb out the window or something, they're going to eventually encounter at least one of their neighbours, whether it's just in the hallways to the elevator and stairs, or the shared kitchen and laundry.

Someone better not be running the washing machine in the middle of the night, though. Seriously.]

[The way Jean's describing it, it sounds like it would've been hilarious to watch. That's why Marco's fighting hard to suppress a smile.]

Well, at least neither of you really got sick.

[I dried your clothes, didn't I? But he keeps that petty thought in his head, finishing his fish instead. Turning from the conversation, he moves to put his plate in the sink, reaching for the dishwashing liquid.]

My late grandmother used to say idiots can't catch colds.

[Which clearly doesn't apply to himself.]

[Don't think he can't see you trying not to smile, Marco. That story was supposed to invoke sympathy, not humor, okay.

He's about to throw a very indignant response back to Haruka, when he becomes aware of the beautiful flaw in that insult and now he's smirking wide.]

That would make you an idiot too, you know.

[Yes, nailed it. Nailed it so hard. Take that.]

[And here Marco was, hoping those two would be friends. So much for that. It seems more like Jean's found a replacement for Eren to argue with. He'll step in if things go too far, but for now he'll just keep a close eye on the both of them.]

[Haruka just washes his plate and the grill with the efficiency of someone who's done it hundreds of times before.

So you admit it? But he keeps that thought to himself; he shouldn't have made that comment in the first place. There's just something about Jean that rubs him the wrong way, and now he's irritated at himself for allowing himself to be baited by Jean's bluster.

He stays silent, intending to finish his dishes, take off his apron, and leave for his room.]

[...Seriously? Nothing? The stupid grin drops and he just sighs, the loudest and most obnoxious sigh possible, before shifting his attention back to Marco.]

You just get back from some training? [He shoves another fishy bite into his mouth and grimaces a little.]

[For a few seconds, Marco's gaze is stuck on the way Haruka's cleaning his... cooking plate thing. Honestly, he doesn't know what all these appliances are called or what some of them are even for. It'd be nice to learn some day, maybe.

He gets snapped out of his thoughts again by Jean's question, turning to face his friend instead.]

Ah, yeah. I guess I lost track of time. [He grins sheepishly.] Do you mind if I go use the shower?

[Training. Haruka's shoulders tense at the mention of that. But now that he's done with the dishes -- he's not going to wait until Jean's finished his food -- he makes his exit; the conversation doesn't interest him.

Bye, kids.]

Go ahead.

[He notes Haruka's abrupt departure with mild annoyance, but it's seriously not worth starting something over. See how mature he can be?]

Hey, let me know before you head out next time. Maybe we could go to the Battle Dome, figure out how to work the simulations. I've watched Silver set it up a couple times...shouldn't be too hard.

[The moment he realizes Haruka's headed for the door, Marco throws a quick "Bye!" after him. The other two might not be saying anything, but that won't stop him from using common courtesy. After that, he turns his attention back to Jean.]

A simulation, huh? So it wouldn't be a real scenario, it'd just seem real, right? [The whole notion of the Battle Dome's been blowing his mind from the start, but he thinks he gets it. Sort of.]

Yeah, it's crazy... It even simulates enemies for you to fight, so it's more realistic than going for wooden targets. But since they're not real, there's no risk.

[But never in a thousand years is he gonna even consider fighting against simulated titans. Fuck that. Fuck that so much.]

That sounds perfect. It's like having all the training with none of the mess.

[And they could simulate their own environments too. Not just forests, but towns too. Maybe even something else that would work even better with their 3D maneuver gear.]

And it'll be real nice to be able to stay inside, since it only seems to be getting colder out.

It really is, huh? I wonder how bad the winter can get in this place...

[Not too bad, he hopes. He was never that good with cold. On the bright side, there's unlimited thick clothing in the store and unlimited heat in the apartments.]

Dunno...already seems plenty cold enough to me. [And it's only November.]
