Christmas tiiiime
Who: Bioshock Family House! (and friends)
What: ITS CHRISTMAS! And they're going to be civil to each other dagnabbit
When: Christmas?
Where: The Bioshocker House!
Summary: Everyone is happy! Food! Presents! Puppies? Proposals! WAIT WAHT?!
Rating: P for words starting with P.
Tree? Check. It's pathetic and almost half the pine-needles are missing from getting dragged into the house.
Ornaments? Check.
Christmas dinner? Well...there's food, at least! Robert and Booker might have raided the supermarket for all the microwaveable and appropriate foods to have for Christmas. There's microwaved chicken, microwaved mashed potatoes, microwaved green beans that are really soggy and smell funny, microwaved rolls, and microwaved ham. Because there should be variety, damnit. There's also a pie sitting in the microwave, waiting. And vanilla ice cream.
Booker wouldn't call it a feast or anything but it's not like there's absolutely nothing to be seen.
They haven't gone all out or anything for the first Christmas they're spending together, nobody here really has the Christmas spirit to do it. Either the Luteces don't remember how to do Christmas or they just don't care - the latter is more likely and Booker hasn't done Christmas in decades so it feels off to even find a tree. Booker doesn't know if Elizabeth ever got to celebrate the holiday in her tower but as far as he's concerned this should be good enough.

She blushed rather profusely at the comment about the front closure, though she was very pleased Gai noticed. "It does look very nice, coming off. I will say that." She'd tried it a few times, just to get the hang of it in case Gai looked horrified by the mechanism when it was presented to him.

At her comment about how it looked coming off, however, he couldn't resist the urge to pick it up and try unhooking it for himself, just to test it out. With one hand. That was likely how he'd be doing it when they put it to actual use, after all.

"Um... right. Sounds like the Malnosso, doesn't it?
"Wait, one more! And as fun as that one is, this one is more important."
Elizabeth set a long box down on Gai's leg, this one with great reverence. It was slightly heavy, because it contained a cast iron key.

Still, the curiosity was evident on his face as he unwrapped it to find the key. Lifting it out, he turned it this way and that for a moment until the significance dawned on him: the bird matched the one on the choker she always wore, and she'd mentioned Booker being the "man with the key"...
When he looked up at her, it was with reverence in his expression. "Elizabeth..."

"It's the key Booker gave me, that let me out out of my tower." She curled her hands over Gai's shoulder and laid her head down. "You've shown me things I never imagined I would see outside of Columbia. I thought I would grow old here, alone, avoiding touch, mistrusting everyone. You taught me differently, you let me learn to love you.
"You've been another 'man with the key' to me. You've opened up another life to me, something richer and fuller." Elizabeth's voice wavered a little, and she passed it off with a laugh. "And now it's going to be our life, together. The fullest life I could have asked for."

He trailed off, slipping his free arm around her to pull her closer against him. "If I hadn't met you, I would've lived my entire life here the same way I had back in my world-- fighting, because that was the only thing I knew how to do. You showed me that there's more to life than just that, and that I wasn't too damaged to be able to have it for myself."
It was something he'd never dreamed of, had never even imagined was possible. "You gave me a world too, Elizabeth. The best one I could ever have hoped for."
no subject
"No, no you were never damaged, just like I was never damaged. We just needed a purpose, someone to walk and dance with, someone to be happy with." She couldn't keep it contained any longer. Elizabeth pressed her eye into Gai's shoulder and let out a little happy sob. "I couldn't say yes fast enough. I will wake up and say yes every single day, and we'll have the world together."

So there was only one thing to do: pull away just enough so that he could lean down and press his lips to hers, expressing through his actions what he couldn't say in words. There were no worries of her misunderstanding this, or of him somehow saying the wrong thing. No, there was no mistaking the emotion behind this kiss. He was going to make that much very clear.

"I don't care if everyone is still here--" she whispered between kisses. "--I'll be quiet, just take me to bed. I want to wake up next to you tomorrow."
no subject
"They can't exactly complain now that we're engaged," he murmured back. "Besides, we're allowed to celebrate that fact if we want. And I did make you a promise..."

She was awful, and Gai was going to take his ring back at this rate.no subject
He simply leaned in to kiss her again, stopping any further commentary she may have had with his own lips on hers.

"We'll still do the lights at your apartment tomorrow--I won't have to be quiet there."

"I'd be disappointed if you weren't. After all, I have to maintain my ego somehow."

But that didn't mean he wasn't about to let her tug him into the bedroom-- it couldn't have been more clear that this was exactly what she wanted right now.

She grinned in the darkness and stretched up to nuzzle under Gai's jaw. "Shut the door for me...?"
no subject
Still, when she asked him to shut the door, it was a matter of a mere second for him to reach behind him and do so, carefully turning the lock until they were rewarded with a soft click. There, perfect.

Door shut, she still spoke at a whisper. But her hands were wandering to the closures on Gai's clothing. They had never done this in near-complete darkness. It was a little exciting, just feeling her way.
