Rue (Hunger Games)
[There'll be a bit of a commotion in the household as Rue wakes up to find a new companion gifted to her by the Malnosso; a mockingjay. There'll be some shouting, crashing around, and chirping as the bird flies around the room and Rue does her best to catch it and calm it down. After the black-and-white bird is calmed down and content to perch on Rue's shoulder or head, she'll give the bird the merry tour around the house and meet-and-greet to anyone who is awake.
Just... no meeting-and-greeting with Buttercup.]

[By the afternoon, Rue will be out in the village squrae as she takes her first foray into the world of being a pet owner. Oh sure there were mockingjays all around District 11 and few well her knew enough to perch on her shoulder, but she never had to take care of them.
Her first stop is the bakery to pick up some bread for the bird.
At the item shop, she'll be looking for something to use as a perch and containers for food and water.
And finally, the library to see if there are books on taking care of birds. And of course, music book. Gotta teach the mockingjay songs to sing after all.]

As for her present, she didn't even open it right away. She wasn't expecting much, considering who it was coming from, and her daily routine was long over by the time she sat at the side of the fountain and ripped it open without much thought. It was... a photo album? Seriously? What a sappy, sentimental gift. She opened the album with a put-upon sigh. There were a lot of pictures in here, actually. More than she remembered, and they were even pictures of her and the people she knew instead of being something insulting. There were pictures of her friends, of course, and there were recent pictures of her family as well. In other words, it was unsurprising, although having them in her possession was nothing to complain about.
After flipping a few pages though, she got to the pictures of the past and present orphans of Court Seim. Had it really been almost two years since she had seen them last? And now she had something to remember them by. Jane smiled to herself, not wanting to acknowledge that her eyes were starting to sting a little, but that was before she flipped further and found some old pictures of her late mother.
Damn it, she really needed to get out of here at this rate. How lame of her--!]

Still, it won't stop Rudy from approaching Jane when he sees her - and with some kind of gift, it looks. He can't really see what's inside it from where he's standing, but Jane seemed really taken by it. Without really thinking, he'll speak up from behind her.]
