Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.

Who: Wanda Maxiomff, Kate Bishop, + Anyone who wants to show up
What: Club HQ's grand opening
When: January 31st
Where: HQ (Across the road from house 14)
Summary: Kate and Wanda finally unveil their Nightclub.
Rating: PG to PG-13.

[After a lot of preparation, opening night for Luceti's newest club is finally here. The music is loud and insistent, the kind where you have to shout a bit to be heard above the noise. Flashing, moving lights above reveal the purple decor, mostly devoid of chairs, and plenty of room to dance. A well stocked bar should be able to provide liquid courage to anyone too nervous to shake there groove-thang sober, while a patio out back affords a space for anyone wanting to have more intimate (or just quieter) interactions. There's also a coat room, for anyone looking for a warmer spot for intimate interactions.

The doors open at seven, and will stay open until two am-- plenty of time to drink, dance, talk and generally have a good time. When the DJs aren't spinning, a house mix is put on, so there's never a quiet moment.]

[A point of interest between them, always good.]

The console is similar to some of the technology in my world, but the overall technology is far more advanced.

[And because it has to be asked:]

Rapture?
notyourutopian: (Restless Nights)

[personal profile] notyourutopian 2014-02-06 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Right. Whoops.]

Ah...the city I come from. In the sixties, under the North Atlantic. Technology there was mostly gears and machines. Nothing with circuits or anything like the battle dome. I understood those, I could take them apart and put them back together easily, whether it was a turret or a radio. But this stuff...

[She just shrugs.]
whiskytraitorfirefight: (STATUS: Stunned)

[personal profile] whiskytraitorfirefight 2014-02-06 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
[...Okay, hold on, Ginia needs to process that. Because a city. Underwater. In the sixties. Granted, it may not be Earth, but North Atlantic and sixties feel fairly specific.]

You're from an underwater city?
notyourutopian: (Distant and considering)

[personal profile] notyourutopian 2014-02-06 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
[A small nod.]

Yes. No one else has ever heard of it though so I think it might be unique.

[Well, except for Elizabeth but that was a mess.]
whiskytraitorfirefight: (STATUS: Shocked)

[personal profile] whiskytraitorfirefight 2014-02-06 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
It sounds like it. I can't imagine what it would be like living underwater or even the logistics behind building such a place.
notyourutopian: (Resigned)

[personal profile] notyourutopian 2014-02-08 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
...It was built in the forties, before I was born. I...I do understand some of the principles they used. [For reasons she'd really not get into.]

But it was...impressive. The city itself.
whiskytraitorfirefight: (STATUS: Understanding)

[personal profile] whiskytraitorfirefight 2014-02-08 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
It sounds impressive.

[A city under the sea, built into the forties and lasting into the sixties, assuming Earth is a remarkable feat.]

You mentioned the Atlantic, but are you from a version of Earth?
notyourutopian: (Thoughtful)

[personal profile] notyourutopian 2014-02-08 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
[She nods.]

Yes. As far as I can tell, a fairly ordinary earth...except for Rapture.
whiskytraitorfirefight: (STATUS: Peaceful)

[personal profile] whiskytraitorfirefight 2014-02-08 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
I think your own world always feels ordinary while other worlds feel extraordinary.

[Ginia smiles and pours up a glass of water for Eleanor. Staying hydrated always helps the following morning.]

I imagine it'd be beautiful down there.
notyourutopian: Do not take! (Suspicious)

[personal profile] notyourutopian 2014-02-08 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
[Eleanor takes the glass and sips it, then blinks at it for a second.]

Water?

[And then right, the subject.]

Oh, it is! Well. It was. There was a pod of whales that would live near my apartment every spring, I would watch them through the windows when I was little.
whiskytraitorfirefight: (STATUS: Pleased)

[personal profile] whiskytraitorfirefight 2014-02-08 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Water. It's a good idea staying hydrated when drinking alcohol.

[A pod of whales, that would have been a sight to see.]

Can people freely travel between cities on land and Rapture?
notyourutopian: (Voice from the Radio)

[personal profile] notyourutopian 2014-02-10 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. [She probably should've known that. Still, she takes a sip of it, the bartender would know best.]

No. Well. Maybe, before I was born. But when I was a child, you had to be invited, had to be necessary in some way.

When I was older, no one would have wanted to come to Rapture.
whiskytraitorfirefight: (STATUS: Observing)

[personal profile] whiskytraitorfirefight 2014-02-10 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[Invite only. It makes sense; a city under the sea would have limited resources. It would probably be more of a gated community than some open vacation spot.]

What happened?
notyourutopian: (Restless Nights)

[personal profile] notyourutopian 2014-02-11 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
...Same thing that always happens. There was a war.

[She's a little jaded for being seventeen.]
whiskytraitorfirefight: (STATUS: Understanding)

[personal profile] whiskytraitorfirefight 2014-02-14 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
[There always seems to be war. And a man and a lighthouse. And a war at an underwater city, with probably limited resources, ways in and out, it sounds horrific.]

Sorry to hear that.
notyourutopian: (Thoughtful)

[personal profile] notyourutopian 2014-02-15 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Eleanor gives a short, tired laugh.]

Me too. But it didn't really matter. Rapture was awful anyway. Except for the view.

[A beat.]

Where are you from?
whiskytraitorfirefight: (STATUS: Calm)

[personal profile] whiskytraitorfirefight 2014-02-16 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
Davenport, Massachusetts from one version of Earth.

[It's still a little weird thinking of multiple versions of Earth. It's also a little disconcerting not being able to find Davenport on some maps of the United States.]

Small city, not sure what to say about it.

[A lie; she knows what there is to say about Davenport and her world, but it's nothing she likes talking about without being prompted.]
notyourutopian: (Reaching Out)

[personal profile] notyourutopian 2014-02-17 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm. Must be nice to be from somewhere normal.

[She'd dreamed of being from somewhere normal.]
whiskytraitorfirefight: (STATUS: Uncertain)

[personal profile] whiskytraitorfirefight 2014-02-18 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, I'm not sure how normal it is. Crime was a big problem in my city. Lots of theft and violence.
notyourutopian: (Frustrated)

[personal profile] notyourutopian 2014-02-20 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
I thought crime was a problem in most places?

[Not that she has much experience with it, really.]
whiskytraitorfirefight: (STATUS: Understanding)

[personal profile] whiskytraitorfirefight 2014-02-20 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
It varies from place to place, but looking through some of the history books about Earth here, it seems the Earth I'm from has a higher crime rate than others.
notyourutopian: (Restless Nights)

[personal profile] notyourutopian 2014-02-20 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm.

Rapture didn't have a lot of crime. It was...too contained for it, I think.

And we don't have much here, either, now that I'm thinking about it.
whiskytraitorfirefight: (STATUS: Working)

[personal profile] whiskytraitorfirefight 2014-02-20 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
One reason is probably because everything is provided for.

[Because how different would things be if supplies were more limited? If things were doled out in rations, or if they had to purchase things with money? Would classes be formed between those with a lot of money and those with very little, or would be people more willing to help each other out?]
notyourutopian: (Thoughtful)

[personal profile] notyourutopian 2014-02-26 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Probably. [A hesitant pause.] I wonder what would happen when that changes.
whiskytraitorfirefight: (STATUS: Uncertain)

[personal profile] whiskytraitorfirefight 2014-02-26 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
[It's something she's thought about. From the guide, it sounds like something similar happened before, yet no one seemed to learn anything. It could be bearable or it could be a catastrophe.

When Ginia answers, she veers toward honesty.]

It depends on how long it lasts and what people do. If people begin storing food and growing food, a food shortage could be manageable. There are animals in the woods to hunt too and plenty of water.
