Luceti Projects Mingle
Who: Anyone and everyone interested in Luceti Projects.
What: Luceti Projects meet-and-greet!
When: Backdated to the 22nd. Begins at noon, lasts all day.
Where: The barracks.
Summary: A few LP members have organized a get-together at the barracks for those with an interest in Luceti Projects to talk, eat, and relax while socializing.
Rating: PG
[ Quite a bit of thought and elbow grease has been put into preparing the barracks for this event. A banner is tacked across above the entrance that reads, "Welcome to Luceti Projects Opening Celebration!" in green paint. It's not exactly the sort of arts and craft masterpiece it could have been had they enlisted the help of one of the kids (such as Ikki), but it's better than nothing.
Just before entering the main festivities is a table with a sign-up sheet, manned by different members of Luceti Projects on a rotating basis, to answer questions or encourage sign-up.
Through the open doors of the barracks' largest hall, long wooden farmstyle tables have been set in rows to encourage mingling, placed adjacent to tables filled with food and drink that hug the walls. A wide range of different appetizers, snacks, and larger entrees have been set out for attendees, with plenty of plates, utensils, cups, and napkins. As a way to encourage more cultural exchange, the cuisine, catered by Okumura Rin, includes a little from different worlds -- cheese and crackers; sushi and yakitori; pasta and roast chicken; salads and other vegetable dishes, including a vegetable and potato stew, heavily featuring corn. A few sweets, such as cookies and a few cakes, sit alongside the savory dishes, next to which sits a very large bowl of non-alcoholic fruit punch (courtesy of Ms. Ginia). There is plenty of water, soft drinks, teas and coffee, and milk.
For those interested in trying out a more communal dish, placed about every five feet of table is a hot pot, specifically for sukiyaki, inside which vegetables, mushrooms, tofu, thin-sliced beef slowly simmer in a delicate broth of soy sauce, mirin, and sugar. Under these simmering ingredients is a base of udon and shirataki noodles to soak up the broth. Small bowls, utensils, and condiments such as soy sauce and eggs for the sauce, sit alongside each pot to encourage communal sharing.
On the other side of the hall is a wet bar (wo)manned by Ginia, with plenty of booze and an alcoholic variety of punch. Coolers filled with beer sit on the floor behind the wet bar. Martinis and other mixed drinks will be served in biodegradable plastic cups.
The smell of charcoal and wood burning wafts through the open back doors, from the glow of a respectably sized bonfire built behind the building, alongside which a long table is set, its surface filled with an assortment of graham crackers, chocolate, marshmallows, large sausages, kabobs with different meats and vegetables, and skewers for roasting.
A few yards away are the outdoor training grounds where a rather large array of weapons, both lethal and non-lethal of the wooden variety, have been set out for anyone who would like to spar. Some dried-out logs have been repurposed into a spectator area. The only rules posted: no use of magic or anything else that could critically harm opponents or spectators. No guns, except in the target practice area. Absolutely no killing. ]
(OOC: Assume that your character will be served drinks by Ginia at the bar, so use the bar area to mingle with whomever else, unless you’d like a thread. If your character would like to man the sign-up area, feel free to just drop them in on anyone. If they don’t know how to answer a question, just have them direct anything to either Erwin or Kakashi. Most importantly, have fun!!
Also, if your character hasn't voted about the LP leadership structure, the poll is still open over here! Even if they don't want to make a comment on the post itself, they can definitely still vote!)

What are you doing? [He asks, with a teasingly chiding tone and a shake of his head.] You are not meant to understand a single word from my lips, let alone express your agreement aloud.
[Blasphemy! Flicking a glance left and right, he then lowers his voice to a velvety purr, his expression bland and almost bored but for a slight lift to his eyebrows.] Have your friends not warned you of my complete and utter madness~? They shall surely think you a lunatic for wasting your time attempting to find reason in the words of a demon frothing at the mouth. [And as is often the case, he can't help but laugh and almost gleefully at his own jab.]

But... it's true, isn't it? My friend Rosalind Lutece explained it to me pretty much the same way.
I don't know if you were in the village, but there was a four day gap in almost everyone's memories a few months back. My best friends was missing, and one of the walls in my bedroom had been completely torn out, and no one knew why.
Back in my world, I had a protector. A violent protector. He killed anyone who tried to keep him from taking me back to my tower. I don't know what happened, but I was certain that all the damage and Booker's disappearance was because he showed up in Luceti and tried to take me away. And Booker probably stood up to him and lost.
For the longest time, I thought it was my fault. My protector never wanted to hurt me, if I had just gone with him nothing would have happened to Booker. But... I know he made a choice, one that I probably had no control over. I can't protect him from himself after all. And once Rosalind made me realize that... I did feel better. I still missed him, but I didn't feel so responsible anymore.

You see… [He huffs a sigh] ...my point was that the vast majority of humans to whom I have spoken cannot begin to comprehend how I could possibly be so cruel as to suggest such a thing. [He presses a hand to his chest.] They argue against me, as if the fates of their friends lie in my hands and I am tearing their loved ones from their very arms myself. That makes you… [A knowing smile crawls across his lips] a delightful anomaly.

[She smiles and shrugs her shoulders a little, taking the 'anomaly' comment as a complement (even though it sounds eerily close to what Gai had said about her when they'd first met).] I had a lot of... fantastical ideas about the world when I was younger. But it's a lot more complicated and darker than what I'd originally thought.
[She looks balefully into her glass, then around at some of the people talking in groups. They looked so naive, all of a sudden.]
Maybe it's not their fault, though. Maybe they've just always lived in a world where bad things never happened to good people, or when bad things did happen, there was someone there to right it.

[He says, following her gaze as she regards the others, and there isn’t a trace of happiness in his voice. Many things he has learned to imitate and falsely project as much for his own survival as his own amusement, but he can't muster a tone of warmth towards these bystanders that isn't poisoned with sarcasm or envious resentment.]
'tis no excuse for them stopping their ears and gnashing their teeth because they are much too pained to acknowledge what they hear. Denying the existence of something does not make it disappear. But many will try and mightily to prove me wrong. [A giggle bubbles out of him.] ...How dare I speak the truth and crush the little beliefs they hold so dear?

[Elizabeth looks back at Isaac--she can't stand to look around anymore.] Did you see what Gai posted after our mission involving the Iron Eye? About the shift explosive? ...any moment one of those could land on us, and then... then there may not be anything we can do at all. No amount of hoping will prevent it.

But he smiles still. Smaller, thinner, because it's what he knows to do. It's what he has to do. Someone's watching.]
Elizabeth... [He offers her a look begging the question, ‘what ever am I to do with you?’] ...you are worrying again. Must I pour a glass of wine down your throat?
no subject
[She huffs and looks at the glass she's been carrying around as a prop instead of an actual intent to drink.] Maybe you do, this party is getting steadily more and more depressing.
tw: Isaac is an amazing conversationalist
[He plucks a raspberry off a plate of fruit, reminded of goosebumped flesh as he shamelessly pokes his tongue into the hollow where there was once a stem. Of course, he just can't eat it properly until he has explored its texture with more delight than he ought to be having. It's soft and sweet between his teeth.]
What is it that humans do to amuse themselves in Luceti? Pick the filth clogging their ears and gather dust for their collections? The better half of you would not know the meaning of excitement even if it were to lodge itself up your anuses. [Nonchalantly popping another raspberry into his mouth.]
Wow Isaac, Elizabeth is totes a lady here. 8[
Some of us have had enough excitement. As much as I'm able, I'm treating this like a vacation. [She tosses her head a little to get a bang out of her face, then contemplates her watered down drink a little.] But I still amuse myself, quite a bit actually.
[She considers her sex life very amusing. In a good way.]
hurrhurr

[Maybe it was the fact that Gai's birthday had been yesterday, and she had... spent the night, so to speak. And the image was still fresh in her mind. And this was Isaac she was talking to, he never let up with the sexual innuendo.]
[So she squeezes her glass a little too hard in embarrassment, and the condensation causes it to pop right out of her hands. Attempting to catch it only soaks her sleeve and the glass still hits the ground. Mercifully it doesn't break.]
The innuendo strikes back
And now I have gone and gotten you wet. You would not be the first woman.
