Even now, there are only embers...
Who: Vegeta, Saori, and Cliff (and maybe a few others)
What: Fairy Tale RPG Adventures
When: During the 2014 Total Recall Event
Where: All over Luceti
Summary: Saori and Vegeta are stuck living out a Fairy Tale RPG adventure with Cliff as an overlord. Shenanigans ensue?
Rating: PG-13? Possible violence and language. Maybe.
Lazeria, a once peaceful barony, is a land under siege by dark forces and hellish magic. The baron, a noble and kind (if somewhat oafish) man named Cliff has been cursed by black magic during a feast. A sorceress appeared and transformed him into a beast-man and the once bright land fell into shadow. The streets darken, strange creatures randomly attack passersby, and the baron himself hasn’t been himself for some time.
Enter two strangers from another land, intent on completing a mysterious quest. A fortuneteller had directed the pair to Lazeria, telling them that if they could defeat the accursed lord of the land that not only would light return, but that wealth and power beyond imagining would be their reward. That draws them in like moths to a flame, and the duo arrives in the dead of night, eager to figure out how best to overthrow Cliff and claim their prize.

And just to make sure, she cast out her awareness, feeling for any animal that might come after her or any magic. She knew him, he'd try something.

"Hold on, I think we've got our mark. Sooner than I expected. Come on, the sooner we get this over with the better." Taking off, he starts hiking forward, moving quickly. He doesn't want to be out here any longer than he needed to, especially just to kill some animal.
no subject
"Do you know how big it is?"
no subject
"No. I don't know much else other than it's ravenous and supposedly dangerous. I'm sure we're more than enough to handle it." Moving through the woods quickly, he stops up against a tree, checking his tracking magic.
"It's not too far up ahead. Make sure you're ready, Saori."
no subject
"This had better be one powerful ape, to drag me this far out into the forest. If I didn't know better, I'd say you just wanted me alone," she muses darkly.
no subject
Looking back in the direction of where his magic was leading, he moves forward again, only much slower, trying to keep the padding of his feet as silent as possible. They finally reach a small clearing, though he doesn't step into it- instead, he's making sure to hide in the treeline.
"I don't see it, do you? It's supposed to be here..."
no subject
Once they reach the clearing, she looks at him, and then at the ring of trees, and then back to him before stepping out into the open. Her sword is ready for a lightning draw, and her senses cast out for this mysterious ape...
"I don't know..."
no subject
"Don't tell me that stupid tracking spell decided to malfunction at a time like this, I can't even imagine how it could mess up this badly."
His hands glow again, and the little light appears from out of seemingly nowhere, zipping toward Vegeta until something stirs in one of the trees...
A shadow, quicker than the eye can follow pounces on top of the little orb of light, cancelling the magic and leaving Vegeta shocked and speechless. The creature, not large at all, looks to be eating the very magic he'd been controlling, shoving it in its mouth happily until it turns its gaze on them.
And then proceeds to walk over happily. There's no doubt that it's a normal sized monkey. But it just ate his magic.

Before whatever it is reveals itself. An ape. A monkey no bigger than normal, and it's dancing around in the moonlight, and gobbling up the spell Vegeta had cast to find it.
"...or...that the monkey just ate it."
What the hell...a magic eating monkey?
no subject
"Hey, that must be the thing we're looking for! What are you waiting for, go on! Or am I going to have to do the honors myself?!"
Though it's no sooner that Vegeta's spoken the words that the monkey has trotted over, sniffing Saori's leg and going to try to go climb up on her shoulder.
no subject
She does, however, hold it like a child in her armored arms.
"Are you seriously afraid of this thing?"
no subject
The little thing squeaks in Saori's arms, moving its head over to her gauntlet and begins to gnaw on it, giving it a taste test. Is this magic? It will start to eat it if it is.
no subject
"You just want some of it's hair?" she asks, tickling it and eliciting a gurgling response. "Because if that's the case, there's no need to kill it."
no subject
"If you won't do it, I will."
no subject
no subject
Of course, his face twists up in disgust and he quickly yanks it away, hiding it from the little one. "Ugh, voracious little devil."
no subject
"Do you want me to take some of his hair, then?"
no subject
The monkey looks back to him, eyes wide. That was its food, where did it go? It looked so yummy.
no subject
"How much did you need?"
no subject
no subject
"Alright, I think I got it."
no subject
Because who would end up feeding him? Vegeta would. And he is not going to put himself through that.
no subject
She'd feed it, but she doesn't really want to keep it aside from a way to mess with him.

Only now the monkey starts squirming and hops out of her arms and right at Vegeta, grabbing hold of his arm and giving his fingers a tentative lick. And then it squeaks in delight!
Dinner, it seems, is served.
