Just when you thought you couldn't get lost in Luceti
Who: Albert, Frey, Raine, Jade, and Sheena
What: 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids' shenanigans
When: April 14-16 (Days 6-8)
Where: Starting in the tea shop, then outside
Summary: Sometimes these wide-scale shift experiments create big problems. And then sometimes they create little problems. Very little problems.
Rating: PG-13 for tiny adventures
Despite the fact that the village is in a flurry of activity because of the number of Shifts affecting everyone, the Celsius' Tear tea shop still manages to have quiet moments now and then in the week. One of those quiet moments becomes even quieter when everyone inside the tea shop is inexplicably hit with a shift that shrinks them to the size of ants.
To make matters worse, they are then transported right out of the village and into the forest by a teleporting shift.
Where, exactly? When you're the size of an ant, that's more than a little difficult to figure out.

ooc notes
Examples:
- Albert comes down with a cold on Day 7
- The temporary shelter built on Day 6 is trampled by a rampaging bunny in the early morning on Day 7; Frey and Sheena are injured
no subject
- Albert will be affected by his curse wound on the 16th. He'll be visibly tired and stressed.
First Day (April 14)
poofing to the forest
Uh... [That is her best effort compared to the degree of her shock.]

The fall in itself isn't what makes it terrifying; he's flown and fallen throughout his time in Luceti, especially with that giant owl of his now in the enclosure. The confusion of not knowing where he is, what had happened, and the sudden, intense smell of greenery and earth do little to help his regain his wits.
When he hits the slick length of a weed's leaf stalk, he slides--tumbles--along it all the way to the ground.
In reality, it would have been maybe two inches of height at best. He's more than a little disoriented and can't quite look up to see where Sheena landed.]
no subject
Then she looks down, and it's a long hop. Maybe more of a slide...until the leaf doesn't bend the way she thinks it should. Sheena no longer weighs enough to bend a leaf.
So she lands the jump with surprising acrobatic ability, into a roll and finally a lying-flat-in-the-very-large-dirt. Oof. Not a good idea, let's not try it again. But she is unhurt and stands again, brushing herself off and looking around.]
Um, Albert?
no subject
There's surprising levels of shade far beyond the tre-- no, it had to be a plant. He has to correct himself as he remembers they were shrunken down to these tiny sizes just minutes ago.
He averts his eyes from the slivers of brightness above to look at Sheena.]
Good to see you're in one piece.
no subject
You're okay, right?
no subject
Dizzy. Nothing's broken, fortunately.
[He frowns as he tries to look beyond Sheena and their immediate surroundings, only able to see the thick blades of grass that more resembled tapestries that disappeared into the sky from his current angle.]
no subject
What the hell, Albert?
no subject
What is it? We seem to be the only ones here.
[He wasn't entirely sure how to feel about that at the moment. On one hand, at the very least he wasn't alone out there; on the other, there was no way of knowing if the others had been thrown out into the forest in their equally tiny forms.]
no subject
[She thinks she heard other voices shouting when it happened, but she can't be sure, and won't lead Albert to question her sanity.]
no subject
Somewhere with plants. Which doesn't help in the slightest.
[He snorts wryly, checking his pockets for his gloves.]
It seems we were hit by another shift right after the last. I knew these broad shifts could stack their effects, but this is certainly a first.
no subject
We weren't alone in there. Think everyone else hit the same bad luck we did?
no subject
[And he sounds so thrilled saying that.]
In a situation like this, we should see if there's any landmarks we can make our way to. But that requires a viewpoint.
[As he says that, he once again looks up, towards the tips of the grass.]
no subject
[Albert's back is covered in this gross sticky stuff, and she can see the matte sheen of it on the plant beside him. It's pretty tall. Tall enough?]
I think I can get most of the way up there.
no subject
Take every precaution you can, if you do intend to try it.
[While the plant had a sticky residue along it and the vertical ridges that were its fibrous structure, it didn't seem very climbable to him -- but perhaps Sheena with her experiences could see things that he couldn't.]
no subject
A piece of really sticky and not enjoyable cake; none of Sheena's three attempts succeed in getting her more than a few ant-heights off the ground. At the last she slides down in a huff, speaking without looking at him.]
Got any better ideas before I really start to panic?
[That. That might be a warning.]
no subject
At the question, he turns to look at her.]
Do you have anything sharp?
[Even as he asks, he starts searching his own pockets. His journal. Pencil. Notepad. A teaspoon.]
no subject
Nothing that I think I can use. What about you? Or we just look for something else to climb. ...Raine and Frey and that guy with the glasses are probably here somewhere, too.
no subject
Am I correct in assuming that you don't happen to lace your tea supplies with particularly strong hallucinogens from time to time? [He asks quite casually, as falls into line beside her while also looking upward. The sight is quite unbelievably sensational.]
no subject
It's definitely just tea. Sorry.
no subject
The Malnosso are the ones who owe us an apology. This is quite the impromptu field trip. [And because of his horoscope, excessive dandruff drifts from his hair.]
no subject
They don't apologize. The ones that do get...sent to the busywork department or something.

[The tea shop seemed like the place to unwind after an exhausting week of impersonating the love of his sister's life. But it looks like the Malnosso would have none of that. It was almost as if he'd done something worthy of karmic retribution.
He arrives along the ground, looking up towards a giant mushroom, with a cloud of horoscope-induced dandruff drifting from his head.]
My, I have to admit that I didn't quite expect this. [And, as he looks around, noticing the others, remaining as coy as ever.] Oh? It seems I'm not alone. I didn't know that the tea shop offered character-building field trips. Or perhaps we have our old friend Jingleheimer to thank for this.
[Afternoon]
[Jade spends some time exploring the surroundings to try to find any landmarks and chart the area to an extent. He may not have any writing materials, per se, but he has faith in the mental map he's building. He forages for food at the same time. Anyone is free to tag along; he heads back to the group several times before heading off.
On one trip, however, he manages to stumble across a praying mantis whom has just consumed her mate's head. And she seems hungry for more. Anyone want to help the colonel fend off a mantis?]
[Night]
[If any help is needed erecting a fire, Jade would make a big deal of using a fonic arte to supply the job. Otherwise, he remains restless and stays on watch throughout the night. There's lots of creatures that creep in the darkness, after all.]
[night]
Albert watches Jade that first night. Though there was a distant familiarity there, he had not really interacted with Jade beyond passing on information from his previous time in Luceti.
Interacting with people who had previously been in Luceti tended to be tricky.
He speaks as he moves over to stoke the fire, averting his eyes to the glowing embers.]
How long have you gone without sleep, in the past?
[night]
There was no way around it now, though. Albert was one of the handful of people whom he'd have to invest some level of trust in to survive this shift. Jade remains alert and on guard, because the forest at night might be one of the most dangerous places to be when you're this small.
Once Albert speaks, Jade quietly glanced at him through the fire.]
Are we comparing records? I can't say that I have an exact number prepared. [Or he just doesn't want to disclose it openly.] But rest assured, I'm capable of acting for several days off of little to no sleep.
no subject
I was looking for an estimate; I don't doubt you can handle yourself for a few days, as someone with a military background.
[He is silent for a moment as he considers their situation. If drafts had been structured as they had in the early years, he knew that he would have more of an idea about how Jade worked; as it was, the most he knew now boiled down to what he could glean from tea shop activity.]
I know surprisingly little of you. That's all.
no subject
And here I had assumed that you were the resident Jade expert. [He says it in a very light tone; he can't help but dig at the time Albert swooped in with his own report.
He actually feels more comfortable with the knowledge that Albert doesn't know him very well. They can get to know each other on his own terms, which is much more to Jade's liking.]
Well, I suppose that now would be as good a time as any to start getting to know each other. [It could be crucial to planning out their survival here.] It seems that you at least know some general basics about me.
no subject
And for that matter, she hadn't even been to the teashop since it all had happened. Maybe once, maybe twice, but not for too long. Today was an attempt at reclaiming normalcy, and yet -
there's no real time to think when you're free-falling right smack into an early blooming wildflower. Unless she's assisted... somehow... it'll take her a little while to work her way out of it once she comes to her senses.
Then of course it's time to meet up with the others. ... If there were others around. She's shaken, but that's to be expected. ]
no subject
He'll soon be reaching the wildflower that serves as Raine's prison. But he can't quiet see her predicament yet, can he?]
no subject
Though she's currently attempting to get out of the flower by not destroying it utterly, trying to push the pollen aside and gently flatten down the petals with wind magic. So he may notice it seeming to bend oddly. It's just ... a big job. ]
no subject
no subject
She tries earth magic next, trying to see if she can get the flower to obey her wishes instead. If she could coax it to lower just enough, hopefully she'd have enough time to hop down without being sent flying off... though it's during one of these moments that Jade might at least spy what's behind the flower's odd movements. ]
no subject
Raine?
[It's a troublesome manner to be sure. He tries to brainstorm his own way of helping her down.]
no subject
The hair's too long to be Albert's, and not the right color, anyway. There's a glint - glasses. It must be Jade - she thought she had seen him arrive before everything went crazy. Good, so she wasn't entirely alone out here, though that didn't make this predicament any better.
There are some varying items along the ground if he looks, all which might be too large, but possibly of some use. Twigs, of varying lengths and thickness, mushrooms, pebbles, limp stalks of grass... ]
no subject
no subject
no subject
Once it seems quite long enough, he'll use the pebbles as footstools to climb up the mushroom, then he'll reach out his link of sticks to see if it's long enough to reach Raine's position.]
no subject
So she'll settle for steadily lowering the flower, trying to get in enough range so that Jade's plan at least has some kind of feasibility. Hopefully there's nothing buzzing around to distract them. ]
no subject
Otherwise, he just watches, fretting slightly at his twig chain's inefficiency.]
no subject
Lower, lower... finally she manages to get in range of the chain. This next part requires some trust -- if she falls, all of that work would have been for nothing. But can it support her?
Carefully she'll move to take hold of it. Though then ... was she supposed to slide down it, or attempt to walk down it? ]
How should we do this? [ Projecting her voice at least isn't difficult. ]
no subject
no subject
Even the blades of grass around them seemed overly thick. Zipping down? Maybe she could use her coat, or try to navigate a leaf... it would have to be a quick movement, anyway. Too much time thinking could ruin the whole process. ]
It should, by the look of it. Hang on -- [ Carefully, she removes her coat, and tries to see if it can be held around the twigs. Barely, but it'll do. Hopefully it wouldn't be too messed up from the endeavor. ] Ready? Here I go!
after everyone regroups
Finding potable water. Finding food. Setting up shelter.
They could bring potable water to them with help from Sona, but storing it and using it for drinking or cooking had to be figured out. Albert can be found looking at the numerous huge plants as they walk, trying to figure out one way or another how to take care of their basic needs.
Later in the day, he helps with finding anything that may be used for a campfire.]
