What: First Annual Luceti Tournament
When: May 2nd
Where: Battle Dome
Summary: Peony has made good on his promise to set up a tournament and today is the day for all the action.
Rating: PG-13 for the violence/fighting/possible language.

Finally the promised day has arrived! As competitors and audiences alike gather for the start, the whole outside area draws the eye to the grand carpet and banners with symbols for every event. There is also a table being restocked with free snacks and water bottles for those waiting around or still finding their way. Most notably, though, is a signboard with the times for all the events and competitors.

Whether you're competing or here for the entertainment, however, it's hoped you'll enjoy the events and fight or cheer hard! Now without further ado, make your own threads or comment around and let the games begin...

I dunno. I like to think it is.

[His tone was amused in his reply, but he didn't allow himself to get distracted. Falling into old habits, Cliff took up a ready stance and kept a sharp eye on his opponent. He didn't know much about this kid from the journal-- only enough to suspect that he may have been around this town for a while-- but he recognized the look in the kid's eyes and the deceptive ease with which the kid moved. He couldn't have been older than Fayt, Cliff realized, but he was probably just as familiar with fights as his friend was before they embarked on their little adventure.

That is to say, more familiar than a young man with a clean nose shoud be.

The bell rang, signaling the start of their fight. Cliff moved immediately.]

Hey, kid. Head's up!

[He charged, fist aimed for a blow to the gut.]

[ Holy shit that was fast. Masoami's brain processes that and only that before he makes a quick pivot on one foot to the side, narrowly avoiding being winded in the first movement. That was way faster than someone with his bulk he ever expected to see move. Still, he did avoid it, and he might as well try to counterattack, throwing a mildly off-balance return kick to go with his movement.

He can't really expect that to connect to any real blows, but it might make him back off. ]

[The retaliatory kick was easy enough for Cliff to dodge, but he had to admit that he was impressed with the kid to a small degree. He hadn't expected that level of alertness and agility from such a skinny guy-- clearly, he needed to be a little more careful.

Cliff slipped back out of the kid's range and swung out with a sweeping roundhouse, planning on using his greater height to his advantage in this little spar.]

[ Fortunately, a roundhouse kick is a sort of movement that's telegraphed before actually lands, and quite extensively at that. Masaomi's able to drop into a low crouch to get out of the way of it- and all the better for it, because the air movement from it implies that would have hurt a lot. Now crouched, he makes to slide off off to one side, so he can stand from a new position ]

[It would've hurt. Despite his words, Cliff was still playing at a decent level out of respect for his opponent. He was very agile.

Relaxing his position, Cliff pounded a fist against his palm and grinned.]

You're not doing so bad, kid. How long've you been at this?

Ah...haha. Well, I've got some experience, but I'm thinking it's pretty clear that I don't have the same level of umf some folks can muster.

[ He says all this sheepishly while rocking on his heels, looking generally relaxed and jovial. He even makes to itch his hand behind his head, to complete the image. Despite this, his eyes are still sharp. And--]

[ He lurches forward with the same hand he made to go behind his head curled up in a fist to come in with what he hopes will be a surprise sort of swing at Cliff. It's a little underhanded, maybe, but it's also a test to see if this guy can react as fast as he moves ]
