When Negotiations Fail
Who: Wan Shi Tong, Loki, Thor, the negotiators.
What: The Library Issue!
When: May the 4th (be with you)
Where: The School and the library for the negotiators.
Summary: While those who are attempting to come to a solution for the library problem meet, Wan Shi Tong goes over to the school to take matters into his own claws.
Rating: PG-13 at the most I would think.
It's evening, and while those who are attempting to find a solution are meeting, Wan Shi Tong only listened for a short time before eventually slipping away in silence. He has been more than patient. It's been over a week now and this empty library was threatening to drive him mad. As far as he is concerned, the negotiations have failed. He will wait no longer.
Leaving the library, the great owl spreads his wings and lifts into the air. Flying in silent stealth towards the school.

No, the bit where he tried to kill me was reason to kill him!
He'll be back in seven days, so you needn't weep. Truly, if you thought this fight might have finished otherwise, you are as great an oaf as that bird. That owl as more stubborn than I have seen even you!

[His hand being bat aside only riles him more as he snaps his hand out again, not to strike but to grab at Loki's uninjured shoulder and give him a shake.]
Seven days or no he will remember who killed him- the village will remember who killed him, he seemed as though he was fit to speak before you lept from the roof to strike him the first time! Stubborn is not impossible to reason with, Loki!

You're certainly belying your own point right now!

[He doesn't scream. He doesn't shout. He bites down on a grunt of pain, glowering at Loki.]
I am not being unreasonable. I am being sensible. There was uproar enough when you took the books- over you mocking the Owl! Killing him will not aid you in the slightest!

I let them have their attempts to negotiate, and little good it did. Should the owl come back and wish for a rematch, as annoying as it might be I shall take time away from my own books to deal with it.

Did you miss the bit where the opposing opinion meant instigating a fight with you? Did you sleep through that? It's certainly how you were fighting.

Tis but an OWL, Loki! What great harm could an owl, knowledgeable or no, lay upon me?

My sincerest apologies indeed for daring to intervene while you played cat and mouse with a giant bird! But fine, have it your way! The next time I think to protect my precious brother's hide, I shall wait to do so until you get around to asking.
I shall bet you all the mead in my stores that what the owl was about to say was nothing that would have proven sweet to your ears. [This is an easy bet to make, considering he and Thor drank all of his mead on the day the idiot owl had moved into the library. But he's figuring Thor won't know that.]

[An old, old argument ripped up from the roots from frustration- but this is a frustrating scenario only doubled by the presence of droids fetching the corpse of Wan Shi Tong. Thor lets Mjolnir fall to his side and gestures emphatically at the lot.]
Choose your battles wisely, brother. This was not a wise choice! This was a pointless battle, a pointless death!

Who is the warrior? Who knows the tides of battle? Oh, surely not Loki, who had the owl pinned and at his mercy with a single blow until some dolt decided to interfere. I couldn't possibly be a warrior, I don't bellow enough!
[He pokes Thor firmly in the chest with his finger.]
I think I made my point abundantly clear to the idiot owl, despite your attempts to muddy the issue!
no subject
[Chest pokery? Oh no. He will not stand for the chest pokery. He lets his hammer slip from his fingers, Mjolnir landing with a dull thud as he takes Loki by the lapels and shakes him.
Gently. Almost gently. He is injured though Thor is paying less and less mind to the fact.]
Your point might be made with words rather than knives, or are you not the son that learned proper diplomacy? Tis a strange day indeed when Loki wets his blades and Thor attempts to speak reason!
no subject
[Being shaken or no, there is more chest poking. More emphatically. He may be getting a little angry about this.]
I shall tell you a lesson well-learned in honorable Asgard, brother! When your enemy pushes you, he will take a shyness of violence not as mercy or wise forebearance, but as an invitation to push further and harder! I bid us stand and defend in the foolish hope that the contemptible owl would have the sense of a little green apple and decide to not make this a fight. Well, I have no interest in being the mountain that this bird will try to batter down with his rock-filled head.
Your diplomats have had eleven bloody days to worry that bird down to a nubbin with their kind, their gentle, their so terribly sweet and conciliatory words. Or is this a compliment, brother, that you think the silver of my tongue worth so much more than theirs? Hah! You already heard the bird say it would not negotiate with the likes of us. And I am not fool enough to waste my breath upon an owl that has not the sense nor comprehension to consider its inferior position and ask for parlay!
