Zompania Draft: Coming Home

Who: Anyone drafted to Zompania, or recruited as reinforcements, or left behind in the village. SO. Everybody!
What: The draftees and reinforcements return to the village.
When: May 26, early early in the morning
Where: Back in Luceti
Summary: Most draftees and reinforcements return to Luceti in the very early hours; now, instead of a medevac site for the draft, the village is a welcome (?) refuge from the nightmare of Zompania for its own. There's a high likelihood it still looks a lot like it has in the past few days; those in the fight didn't even get a chance to shower before returning.

[Sokka, for better or ill, doesn't know specifically what Zuko has gone through. For that matter, he only knows things weren't going particularly well. Sokka's had that experience more than once. So all of this will come as a rude awakening… very… very soon. Perhaps now.

Despite Sokka's particular fondness for sleep, his sense of responsibility urges him awake the moment the door is opened. He doesn't see Zuko's almost-glare at him because Sokka's first instinct is to protect the home from invaders. He immediately grabs the first weapon at hand—a copy of some textbook from his former future self's room—and prepares to fling it in the direction of the doorway. At least, that's the case before Sokka's sleepy stupor realizes who it is just came through the door.]

Zuko, you're back!

[Sokka rubs his eyes a little bit, shaking the sleep from them. Of course, he's got nothing to be complaining about, but…]

[Zuko doesn't at all miss the fact that Sokka just woke up with intent to throw a book at him.]

Nice to see you too, Sokka.

[He's clearly very irritable, moreso than usual. Plus he looks like crap.]

[Yikes. It's like Toph returned instead of Zuko. Sokka, remembering he's still holding the book, drops it instantly, letting it fall to the ground with an unceremonious thump. It finally registers what Zuko looks like, and the irritation that was in his voice is profound. Sokka weakly points between him and the journal that had fallen onto the floor when he abruptly woke up once or twice before finally speaking.]

So… did you guys… win?

[If Sokka gets close enough he will probably notice that Zuko smells terrible too.

He goes quiet for a moment. The question being much deeper than Sokka probably realizes.]

I guess you could say that.

[Sokka asking a deep question? That would almost never happen intentionally. And Sokka almost certainly won't realize how deep the answer is either.]

Awesome. Congratulations, Zuko. [Sokka yawns a bit here as he starts to come closer.] You look like a saber-toothed mouse-lion had its way with you. And... pfew! Is there anything I can do for you before you get some shuteye?

[Yes, he can tell Zuko needs sleep.]

No.

[And with that, Zuko just continues on. He really doesn't want to talk about the draft right now. He just wants to get cleaned and get some sleep.]

[Sokka watches Zuko head on upstairs by himself. Sokka's got loads of questions, but he also knows that there are sometimes where you just can't bombard them on someone. And it was stupid early in the morning; for that matter, he wasn't necessarily in the mood for that either.

Sokka lets him go.

But he smiles, content that the Avatar House won't be empty for long… and glad that Zuko made it back alive and well.]
