Zompania Draft: Coming Home

Who: Anyone drafted to Zompania, or recruited as reinforcements, or left behind in the village. SO. Everybody!
What: The draftees and reinforcements return to the village.
When: May 26, early early in the morning
Where: Back in Luceti
Summary: Most draftees and reinforcements return to Luceti in the very early hours; now, instead of a medevac site for the draft, the village is a welcome (?) refuge from the nightmare of Zompania for its own. There's a high likelihood it still looks a lot like it has in the past few days; those in the fight didn't even get a chance to shower before returning.

Would you like some cake?

[She should probably ask that before he falls asleep again.]

[Wan would love to have some cake.
But he would also love to have some sleep.

But before he had to make the very difficult decision between the two, his body decided for him. He's... asleep again. Who would have thought several days of sleep deprivation would make it difficult to stay awake?

... he might've muttered something about loving cake as he drifts off to sleep if that counts.]

[This time, she kneels down and shakes his shoulder a bit.]

Why don't you go sleep in your bed? I think it would be a little more comfortable.

[He opens up one eye. Exactly one eye.]

I don't think I can make it

[Wan is only the tiniest bit dramatic.

...he would add that he is perfectly comfortable sleeping on the ground and he has never even had a bed until arriving in luceti a few weeks ago but... nah.]

That's all right. I can help you.

[She holds out her hand.]

[There is a brief moment where he doesn't get up, or really respond in any way. Because this ground was definitely comfortable enough for him. But then there was this nice lady who is offering him cake and now wants to help take him home. He can't just... be a jerk and tell her to go away already.

So there is a pause, followed by a sigh of resignation before he'll take her hand and pull himself up. Blinking a couple times and shaking the dust out of his wings. Between the sluggish state and his smelly, torn clothes, and a nice layer of don't-want-to-know-but-mostly-blood, he looks like the walking dead.]

[He may look like the walking dead, but that doesn't deter her even slightly. In fact, without hesitating, she wraps an arm around his waist. Feel free to lean on her, Wan: she's nearly six feet tall in her heels.]

There. That's better.

[Grune will have no trouble supporting him. Wan is... pretty short for his age. He's also underweight. Having to scrape by with whatever food you can steal most of your life will do that to a growing boy.

He's shaky on his own legs after the hunger, exhaustion and trauma of the draft.]

[He almost wants to ask why she's being so nice to him, but he keeps that to himself. He'll go wherever Grune wants to lead him.]

[Oh dear. She could probably carry him back to his home (because in addition to being tall, she's also strong). Maybe if he gets too tired, she will.]

You're welcome. [She smiles at him from the short distance that separates them.] Let's go home.

[And he's going to walk... though it would be much easier to point out where he lives if he could consistently keep his eyes open for more than a few minutes at a time. But... he's always had a good sense of his surroundings so they shouldn't get lost so long as he can stay at least a little awake.]

[Good thing he has a good sense of direction, because Grune sure doesn't--most of the time, anyway. But they'll get there eventually. And it isn't like she'll get tired supporting him, either.]
