Zompania Draft: Coming Home

Who: Anyone drafted to Zompania, or recruited as reinforcements, or left behind in the village. SO. Everybody!
What: The draftees and reinforcements return to the village.
When: May 26, early early in the morning
Where: Back in Luceti
Summary: Most draftees and reinforcements return to Luceti in the very early hours; now, instead of a medevac site for the draft, the village is a welcome (?) refuge from the nightmare of Zompania for its own. There's a high likelihood it still looks a lot like it has in the past few days; those in the fight didn't even get a chance to shower before returning.

[Immediately Emil bends to help ease her to that sitting position as carefully as he can, giving her one more quick check for any injuries as he does so. Good, she doesn't appear to be hurt anywhere.]

Just stay here and I'll be right back.

[Once he's certain that she'll be able to sit up on her own, he darts into the closest building and emerges a couple of minutes later with a glass of water, which he offers to her when he kneels back down beside her.]

[Karla waits, resting her forehead on her knees, lightly dozing off again. She does manage to jerk awake as he returns with the glass, though.]

Oh...thank you...

[And she begins to sip, hoping this will help tide her over until she can get to her bed.]

Don't mention it-- I'm just glad you're okay. Try not to drink it too fast so you don't choke or anything.

[Then, realizing that he probably should remember his manners and actually introduce himself, he smiles a little.]

By the way, I'm Emil. What's your name?

[Karla takes another small sip and, despite the advice, she ends up choking anyway. She stops for a moment, coughing water and dirt from her mouth. She catches her breath when the coughing subsides.]

I'm...Karla.

[Emil watches her, concerned and ready to thump her on the back if she seems to need it. But she recovers on her own, so instead he relaxes and just lets her drink at her own pace.]

Where do you live? I can help you get home once you're feeling a little better, or I could take you to the clinic or the Welcome Center if you think that would be easier.

Ice Building...

[She doesn't know where that is right now. She takes a slightly larger sip, letting the water wash down her throat.]

I just...need to sleep. I don't care where we go...

[But the closest place would be easiest.]

That's kind of far away... the Welcome Center would be the closest.

[He looks up and across the plaza, gauging the distance between them and the building.]

If you're really tired, I could probably carry you there on my back. You don't look like you weigh that much.

[Emil, you do not say things like that to girls.]

[Karla doesn't mind at all, especially since it's...kind of true.]

All right...you can carry me...

[She does NOT want to get up and risk passing out again.]

[Nodding, he holds out his hand to take the glass of water back. He'll just leave it sitting on the ground for the moment; he can come back for it once he's gotten Karla somewhere she can rest.]
