Zompania Draft: Coming Home

Who: Anyone drafted to Zompania, or recruited as reinforcements, or left behind in the village. SO. Everybody!
What: The draftees and reinforcements return to the village.
When: May 26, early early in the morning
Where: Back in Luceti
Summary: Most draftees and reinforcements return to Luceti in the very early hours; now, instead of a medevac site for the draft, the village is a welcome (?) refuge from the nightmare of Zompania for its own. There's a high likelihood it still looks a lot like it has in the past few days; those in the fight didn't even get a chance to shower before returning.

[At least they are doctors and not gossips. Mia's hands find Kari's again and hold on gently.]

Do you feel up to drinking a little water? You won't have to sit up. [Catch her at the right moment and Mia thinks the greatest new invention she knows in Luceti is the plastic straw.] Don't force yourself, if you think you can't.

[The thought of having to swallow it sounded unpleasant, but she needed to get used to it eventually. She couldn't exactly go without eating and drinking, and at least water would go down smoothly.]

I'll go get you some. [She pats Kari's arm once on the way out of the chair.] Don't fight sleep, if you feel too tired before I come back.

[Between the injuries and the pain medicine and the healing, it won't surprise Mia in the least if she comes back to a sleeping patient.]

[Kari nods, but won't be falling asleep just yet. The pain had settled a bit, but was still a little bit too much for her to try and sleep just yet. And besides that, it was comforting having someone nearby. She didn't want to go back to sleep only to wake up alone later.]

[Mia returns with a cup of fairly cold water sporting a bendy straw. Finding Kari still awake, she smiles as she sits, holding the cup close enough to her that she need only turn her head a little to drink from it.]

Take some really small sips, please. It might hurt to swallow at first. [It might be counterproductive to say so, too, but she thinks Kari ought to know. What a terrible surprise, otherwise.]

[Oh, Kari knew it would hurt. But she also knew this wasn't something she could put off -- she wasn't going to get better, otherwise. But at least for Kari, she was used to pain. This wasn't the first time she was seriously injured, after all.]

[So with a notable wince, she sips at the water. Though she'll only manage about half of the cup before she has to stop.]

[That is about twice as much as Mia expected she would be able to drink. At half she intended to put the water down no matter what, worried over the possibility of Kari getting sick to her stomach. The cup goes on her night table, maybe for later.]
