Who: OPEN to all!
What: Movies, movies, movies! And games and food too.
When: All day Saturday, June 7th (starts 11ish)
Where: Rec Center
Summary: Ginia throws a movie marathon at the rec center for entertainment and post-draft distractions.
Rating: PG-13 for some of the movies shown, but let's keep it around here or lower.

On Thursday, flyers were posted around the village with another notification of the movie marathon and the list of movies that will be shown:

The Sword in the Stone
Grease
Robin Hood: Men in Tights
Moulin Rouge
The Princess Bride
Jurassic Park
Clue
Rocky Horror Picture Show

Come Saturday, the list can also be found outside the rec center. Inside the center, there are tables set up filled with food: fruit and veggie platters, cookies and cake from the bakery, sandwiches, packages of popcorn (with a microwave nearby), and an assortment of packaged candy. As food begins running low, runners will be sent to the stores to bring back more. There are also drinks - water, sodas, juices, tea, and coffee. Alcohol is bring your own, but Ginia also has a small table set aside with some gin, whisky, vodka, and mixers.

Besides what seating is already in the rec center, additional chairs, large cushions, and even two beanbag chairs have been brought in. For those who want to hang out but not watch movies, there's still pool, board games, and a few deck of cards.

Enjoy, relax, and try not to think about the draft.

Up to you. If you were facing ol'Tasky then I would say most definitely.

[Ginia has a hunch if "ol'Tasky" was around, she wouldn't have begun playing against him.]

Oh my god, you have some awesome games here.

[Sam approaches Evan, grinning widely as he looks over the selection. Better than they have at Abel where they've had to jury rig together enough pieces.]

Yeah, he kind of cheats at skills though. Can mimic any physical skill. Doesn't stop me from kicking his ass though.

[Mostly because he doesn't follow a set pattern, and occasionally will just dance in battle]

[A necessary reference if ever there was one]

[Someone who can mimic any physical skill. It reminds Ginia of Kakashi's ability and she briefly entertains the idea of the two of them having a copy-off. That'd be interesting to see.

The reference makes Ginia smile slightly and huff softly. She waves her hand at the table. Go on, clear everything off.]

[Deadpool proceeds to do so, just sort of sinking balls in a casual manner]

Bullseye is decent at pool too, though darts is obviously the game where he is the undisputed master.

[Ginia stands out of the way and watches the balls go in one by one, flagging Deadpool down to get his attention when there's a moment.]

/Sounds like you cross paths with interesting types./

Yeah, at various times we've been allies, enemies, drinking buddies. My social network is rather hit and miss.

[He shrugs. A good part of that was the job, and some of it was his fault]

[There's something Ginia can relate to. Surviving as a hunter came down to personal skills and having a good network and set of connections. Ginia had a good network of allies and contacts, a few set of good friends, and people she'd share a drink and maybe a bed with. Enemies she tended to avoid, though differences could always be set aside for joint operations.

Ginia feels a small tug of nostalgia as she begins collecting the pool balls. Having Evan here was a nice reminder of her group back home, but there was also no going back home.

With the last ball sunk, Ginia shakes off her thoughts by setting up an easy starting trick. Six balls forming a straight line across, two balls on the other side.]

[Saori nods at that, and for an instant almost asks if Ginia did the same until she remembers the speech thing. She's gotten a little better at catching herself instead of asking impulsive, and sometimes insensitive questions with obvious answers.]

And what about you? What's your profession?

[Ginia distracts herself with a drink of her gimlet as she tries to figure out how to answer. It's silly; she's been teaching Saori how to shoot and the goddess saw her cut someone down in the draft so it's no secret she can fight and kill. And it's not a secret anyway. It should be easy.

So why is she hesitating? Ginia takes a long drink of her gimlet before setting it down.]

/I'm a bounty hunter. Or was, I retired years ago./

[Saori doesn't know. In fact, she thinks it's outright strange to hide one's profession. Even if you are a potter or something. But while Ginia dithers, she finishes her drink and pours another.]

A bounty hunter? You look for criminals for money, right?

/Basically, yes. Normally it was people that jumped bail, but it's expanded to tracking down and apprehending criminals among other fields. It's not as exciting as most people think. Lots of reading, gathering information, trying to think ahead of the person./

[She smiles and nods at that, not...entirely understanding all of it but getting the gist.]

That does sound like a job I did for a while when I visited America.

[Really? Ginia's brows raise, also glad to pounce on a new topic that doesn't have to do with herself.]

/Who were you looking for? Or what?/

I was just learning about America. But that was...oh...I don't remember the dates very well. It was after the black sails came, maybe the 1860s? Over a century ago, by my time.

[She pauses, thoughtful.]

I...posed as a human, but some people figured out I was something more after a few incidents. And I was approached by a man from a strange organization asking for help tracking someone. A bandit and thief. A very bad man, really.

[Time is truly an ephemeral thing. What's a day in a year? A year in a century? What would it be like seeing the world change over the years, decades, centuries? Would centuries blend together for a goddess like years blending together for a mortal?]

/Any luck finding him?/

[Saori's eyes glaze over for a moment, a glassy look to them as she searches for the answer to the question. A few seconds later, she nods.]

Yes. Mister Pinkerton and I did eventually catch up with one of them. The one they wanted most.

/No more details? Just that? Or am I prying too much?/

Hey, Ginia loves a good story. Can't be blamed for wanting more details.]

I know, a mystery, ain't it? [Ok, he'll admit, Remy was drawn to movies that showed heists, even if just to mock them for what they did wrong. He needed a hobby...]

'nd can't turn down a good laugh, hein?

That's right, this movie's a comedy, not a drama. Yeah, it's good to have something to laugh over. [she agrees, friendly.]

[After such events, which they hadn't really caught up since the draft.]

How ya doin' Jeanie? [Places a hand on her knee in a friendly gesture, the tone of flirting gone from his words now.]

Holding up. [Her response is honest, though still on the light side of things. ] Things are less than awesome, but they're definitely better than they were. so I can't really complain. ... You?

[It was good to hear, if some what of an understatement.]

Survivin'. [Also honest, if not bringing back memories of how he got himself and others to survive during the draft.]

Heard Scotty went back, sorry cherie.

[Her expression visibly saddens. Yep. That's what she's been trying not to think about.] Yeah. Well. It's not like he went on purpose. Really, he's probably the lucky one. [She shrugs, as if to say it's not important, but her expression is unmistakably distressed.]
