Summary: Ginia throws a movie marathon at the rec center for entertainment and post-draft distractions.
Rating: PG-13 for some of the movies shown, but let's keep it around here or lower.


On Thursday, flyers were posted around the village with another notification of the movie marathon and the list of movies that will be shown:

Come Saturday, the list can also be found outside the rec center. Inside the center, there are tables set up filled with food: fruit and veggie platters, cookies and cake from the bakery, sandwiches, packages of popcorn (with a microwave nearby), and an assortment of packaged candy. As food begins running low, runners will be sent to the stores to bring back more. There are also drinks - water, sodas, juices, tea, and coffee. Alcohol is bring your own, but Ginia also has a small table set aside with some gin, whisky, vodka, and mixers.

Besides what seating is already in the rec center, additional chairs, large cushions, and even two beanbag chairs have been brought in. For those who want to hang out but not watch movies, there's still pool, board games, and a few deck of cards.

Enjoy, relax, and try not to think about the draft.

[For a day that's suppose to be about relaxing and having fun, Ginia finds herself busy. She's been at the rec center since the morning, getting things set up, making sure everything was working (with all the weird shifts going on, she's a bit leery), checking on food and throwing away any pieces that suddenly rot. Keeping busy is her way of keeping focused and keeping her mind off the draft.

Ginia can be found all day. A few times she'll step out to run out to get more food (or direct someone to serve as runner), but she's around. If she's not watching a movie or keeping an eye on the food and drink tables, she can also be found by the pool table.

And late into the night, don't be surprised if she's dancing along to the Time Warp or mouthing along with the songs. Old habits die hard.]

[Deadpool had already run some simulations early on at the Battle center and had showered off, and was wearing something a little more casual, though he still wears the mask and gloves. Surprisingly nothing too outrageous, just a plaid shirt and some blue jeans. He chalks up and holds the stick as he sets up]

[A simple question out of curiosity. It's not too unusual; Kakashi always wears a face mask so hey. Ginia sets up the table for standard eight-ball before grabbing her cue stick.]

[He's not really sure about this "movie" stuff, but he's curious, so he's willing to give it a try. He could use a way to get his mind off things. And--there's food. Food is always important. Farlan settles on the sandwiches, as they have meat, and meat is his favorite. Once he has enough of them, he takes a seat. Well, how often does someone get a chance to see how people entertain themselves on other worlds? This shouldn't be too bad.]

[When Farlan arrived Evan had been busy taking care of some things that a passing shift had messed with. However, that soon taken care of, he spots the newcomer quickly enough. Seems they have helped themselves to the food already so that was good.

Evan makes his way over, before pulling up a chair next to Farlan. Luckily the opening credits were just rolling.]

Hey, welcome! My names Evan, I'm helping run this show, so, glad you could make it.

[Plenty of sandwiches to go around. Thankfully cold cut sandwiches are easy to put together in mass quantities. Ginia catches Farlan over by the food table and offers a friendly wave before the usual cellphone comes out.]

[All to happy to help out with the preparations and movie selections, Evan is still rather put off by the sudden changes that keep happening. Ginia had called them shifts, which made sense, but every time one happened he stared blankly at the result for a moment before sighing. C'est la vie!

Evan can be found all day when not being ordered around by Ginia. He'll greet each newcomer with a wide smile and his name before pointing out all the things that were available. Food! Drinks! Movie Seating! Pool! Board games! Cards!

When not avidly watching a movie (and singing quietly along to the music), Evan can be found playing with a deck of cards at a nearby table.]

[ Red doesn't come until later in the day, but if Evan is still giving greetings -- well, the sight of the man is a surprise to the boy! Who is not accompanied this time by Pikachu. ]

Oh my god, you have some awesome games here.

[Sam approaches Evan, grinning widely as he looks over the selection. Better than they have at Abel where they've had to jury rig together enough pieces.]

[Well, given that Saori realizes she needs to socialize at least a little bit and is in theory loaning Ginia some of the movies, it's probably good for her to turn up. She even sits through most of the movies, focused more or less on that than the other activities. Cards are dull, pool is dull, but she might be convinced to play a board game if anyone wants to. Traditional games or more modern children's ones are a preference. After all, she's got a Hungry Hungry Hippos rivalry going with Kushina...

Throughout the day, Saori is prone to vanish for a few moments, drifting outside to get fresh air and stretch, as summer is making her generally restless temperament even more so than usual.

Food wise, she eats sparingly, preferring fruit and other sweets to any of the salty things. She has brought her own bottle of something strong smelling that she keeps on ice till the evening. Once that comes out, she's more or less drinking it like water, but seems more than fine, and happy to share as well. If someone thinks they can handle what she's got, anyway.]

[Ever the good host, and thankful for Saori loaning some movies, Ginia greets the goddess when she arrives, makes small talk throughout the day, sets aside a container and some ice for Saori's bottle. It's a day to relax, for people to enjoy themselves or distract themselves however they want so Ginia doesn't linger too long.

But toward the evening, when Ginia has already finished one drink and is on her second (gimlet, heavy on gin), does she take a seat by Saori.]

[When Evan first spots Saori, it's from the corner of his eye as he turns to check on the food levels. It is understandable then that he freezes, his mind jumping to crazy conclusions. The glace is too brief, to give him a solid ID, yet a single name beats in time with his heartbeat, which has jumped to a ridiculous pace as his whole body tenses for flight or fight.

Cynthia, cynthia cynthia cynthiacynthiacynthiacynthia!

It takes all his self control to turn carefully, not whip his head around and stare blatantly. Almost immediately he realizes his mistake. A shaky exhale. No, it wasn't her. Most people might have made a similar mistake, if they knew Cynthia and saw Saori from a distance, but Evan's long time familiarity with his oldest friend means he sees the difference very clearly, now that he is looking properly.

It still hurts though.

However he takes a deep breath, shoving everything down. He's not dealing with it today. No, today is fun and movies dammit.

So he pulls up a smile, perhaps a bit smaller than his usual friendly smile, but genuine, and approaches Saori.]

((ooc; So, sidenote. Evan is a member of no religion in particular but has participated in the worship of various Chinese and Japanese gods. I don't know if you'll want to do anything with that knowledge but feel free to ignore or expound at your will. Just wanted tp add it in because it feels like it could be important??? Maybe? Also he's pretty aware of Eastern Mythology, but not of Saori in particular. Mainly Taiwanese/Chinese myths, with a sprinkle of Japanese.))

[God knows the Cajun liked a good distraction, and a movie night really did fit the bill. It would help to break up tension from the draft, try and return everything to as normal as Luceti could be.

Most of the night Remy lazing around and enjoying the movies he's interested in, and for those he weren't he splits his time between the pool table and teaching any of those willing to take him on at poker a thing or two.

As Rocky Horror starts playing, he absolutely makes the most of having memorized the songs. Who didn't love the Time Warp?]

Evan had seen the Cajun around, but had not gotten around to greeting the man. However seeing him at the table with a deck of cards gave him a great chance. So he wandered over, a friendly smile on his face.]

Hey. Wanna play a game?

[ Red isn't entirely engrossed in any of the movies, and it's through one -- having glanced a few times at the pool table when it was played before -- that he decides to get up to go over to it. He waits until the man's taken a shot though to speak- ]

Do you mind if I watch?

[When Jean shows up, she's grateful for the opportunity to socialize. The draft had been awful, and coming home to find Scott just-- gone again had been devastating. She knew she should deal with those feelings, sooner rather than later, but for now? For just one evening? She was going to pretend like everything was ok.

Spotting Remy, she saunters over, making no real attempt to be sneaky as she approaches him from behind, putting one hand on his shoulder, and the other over his eyes, both loose touches.]

Alright! [Kurt is trying his darndest not think about the draft; and he is all over this. He plops himself down, ready to go through all the movies. He even brings a satchel filled with some of his own DVDs in case there's time for more.

He also spends some time generally mingling, trying his best to forget the trauma of the draft as he snacks on all of the sweets. He may even try to make some sneaky passes at the alcohol.]

[Evan regard the alcohol table out of the corner of his eye. He was not one for drinking, but he understood the allure, in an abstract way. The idea of loosing any self control was a bit on the scary side though.

Still, he understood why people turned to it. Even if he thought is was weird. Besides it tasted so gross.

However when he sees someone who looks a bit younger than the legal drinking age approached it sneakily, well, that just won't do. Not that he actually gets why underage drinking is a 'big deal' but hey. Social norms, what can you do.

This in mind, he stealthily approaches the young man. Once standing directly behind him he speaks:]

[Eleanor hadn't seen many movies in her life, and the ones in Rapture had been...very different from what people watched in Luceti. Black and white, old, romantic or ridiculous, they'd just been...they'd never really held her attention on the few occasions she'd even been allowed to see them.]

[Which was part of the reason she was here, really. She needed to get out, get away, but also she was curious enough to pop over and see this 'Jurassic Park' at least.]

[It was just an added bonus that she saw Kurt there, in his disguise of course, and she offered him a faint, friendly wave.]

[A silver-haired boy in a school uniform wanders in at some point.

He has no idea what is going on.]

[Seeing as he is a gracious and helpful host, Evan immediately notices the kid who seems a bit lost.

This must be corrected! Evan walks over, giving a friendly smile.]

Hey, welcome. Did you come to watch a movie?

[Evan's not sure what is playing at the moment, but all of the movies are good.]

[This. Is. Awesome.

Janine doesn't let them have movies on the big screen that often, and it isn't like there's anything new coming out. It's just nice here to meet up, have a social event. Like when he'd gone to the cinema with people at home.

He brings a few packs of beer, a bottle of something harder for later, and they really have put together a good list.

He finds a seat, even if he's seen all the movies before. He might even be found singing along with the songs to Rocky Horror. Shame he forgot his makeup.]

[A good old mixed movie marathon, a little taste of home in a world where all homes come together. Ginia has a grin and a friendly wave for Sam when she spots him before she types up a message.]

[ MASAOMI IS HERE. He proposed one of the movies, he knows a lot of the people scheduled to come, and he likes to socialize. Thus, he's here and here's going to live it up in terms of socializing. His attention is rapt for the musicals (and Jurassic Park), but it does admittedly wane a bit with some of the older movies on display here. So while he does sit and watch and maybe sing along or chat up for a lot of the time...

When his attention wanes, he makes to use the other things in the Rec Center. Like the Air Hockey table if anyone willing to go for a game (oops hope that isn't too loud) or checking out things on his journal. He's got no real reason to not camp here all day, and it's evidenced by the fact that he brought Linda, many apples, and one of the bento lunches Cilan made the other day.

Oh and he will try to flirt with the ladies but what else is new ]

[Ssshhh pretend I'm not late. Cilan is here, and he seems...rather invested in all of the movies being shown today. He doesn't really seem that interested in doing anything else other than watching the movies, he's perfectly content to sit there and watch every single one of them that's being shown today. It might take some serious convincing to get him to actually do something else instead, because otherwise he seems permanently glued to his chair when the movies are playing, only getting up and wandering away for a second or two after a movie ends and before the next one begins. At some point, one of his Pokemon might make an appearance to watch something as well, even Stunfisk who takes to sitting in Cilan's lap and just stares at the screen with a blank expression on it's face.

But hey, he'll talk with people if they want to chat...provided it's not during the best part of the movie, and if you get him talking about the movie or movies in general? Then buddy, you better be in for a long chat about why movies are so awesome because Cilan happens to be secretly really passionate about this sort of thing.]
