Maybe, maybe not. [ He'd like to think it is. But honestly, he knows it won't be. This is a memorial he's erecting, but it's a memorial which is probably on the plum opposite side of this stupid planet from where Luceti is. chances are, they'll get it up and he'll never see it again. In a way, it's thus just as ephemeral as if they had died in a more conventional manner. There's no closure, it's not like a grave he can burn their favorite foots at. Hell, he didn't even know what Davis liked to eat. Or Anthony. Or anyone else who might have gone into the void.

He didn't even know what the void was. Not really. His frame of reference is at best what Shikamaru's mentioned (which isn't much) and at worst guesses. ] I once told you there isn't "finality" in this world, and to some extent, I think that's still too. Nothing's solid enough to reach an end, and soon enough I know this memorial I'm making is just going to be a memory of the people here.

[ But even as he says that-- he chances something. He makes to reach out a hand and put it on Crystal's shoulder. The contact is far from intimate, through their somewhat bulky hazmat suits. But it's still something he wants to do ]

Well fortunately for us, I sort of get the feeling Zompania's on the edge of a tundra. No big things here to bridge over.

[He holds out his hand in greeting, and he has a little something else in mind too. A trick he'd picked up from Piccolo, ages ago.]

[Shikamaru hums at that and, with no pockets in these hazmat suits to stuff his hands in, folds them behind his neck instead. Truth be told, that's the only thing that really bothers him about the suits but oh well. They'll be gone tomorrow.

Keeping his ears pricked for the sounds of any animals out here he continues to wander about, stopping every now and then to examine the trees.]

[ He won't as where they're going - he can think of one or three locations. Apparently, Davis and his fellows died out here somewhere, sacrificed in order to allow them time for their "victory" - it's possibly Shikamaru intends to see if there's anything left at that sight. Or anything left at the place where the cultists had a base. Or anything left in the ruins of crashed airships. Who knows, it could be any of none of those. For his part, he's actually mildly curious which one it'll be. Or maybe it's just none of them, and something totally random.

[It gets darker the further they get from the camp, and while he could find his way in that just fine (it's his element, so to speak), he knows Masaomi won't be able to see as well. Once they get further into the thick of it, he unzips his suit just enough to pull out a flashlight, than pulls it back up. The beam switches on, cutting a clearer path for them ahead.]

[She takes it -- it's been a while since she got to shake someone's hand. Everyone here seemed to subscribe to bowing.]

It's limiting her Iron Tail, which is the biggest problem. She can't really make a blade if she's protecting herself.

[ So the demolition is held back just a bit. Not overly so, but enough that it's been bugging her. A sentiment she would return if not for the fact that she's in her ball at the moment ]

[And with the contact? Krillin does something unexpected! His hand glows slightly with a white light and he sends a bit of his ki her way. She should immediately feel revitalized and refreshed...because his power level? Way, way over 9000.]

No, that's better than you'd expect. The material must not be retardant or conductive, but then... it's meant for Shifts, so who knows. Apparently, she's just been zapping herself a little in the process.

That's lucky. If Iron Tails are too much of a pain, you could just take her to other areas. Though I guess it doesn't matter much, now that we're nearly finished.

[He rolls the scroll of his back, and works at opening it. It's harder through the gloves of these hazmat suits. They're not cumbersome where it counts, but there's a bit of a one-size fits all to their design in places around the hands.]

...You were one of the guys who helped find a way into the city the last time we were here, right?

Yeah, we're just closing in on putting up that monument, right?

[As he pauses to glance up at Shikamaru, he shrugs an arm up to wipe the sweat dripping down his temple - before remembering the protective gear that encases his whole body.]

Yeah, it's ready. [He heaves the last shovelful of dirt over his shoulder, then slaps the shovel up onto the earthen rim surrounding the hole and hoists himself out. The hole is about as tall as he is. Just short of the proper length, but the best he can mass produce under time constraints. Hole after hole for body after body.]

Who's even going to see a monument, out here? Wherever here even is.

[Jean's quick, and pretty strong too. Shikamaru would have offered him a hand up out of it, but oh well. Up topside, he's already taken out the bodies he brought over from his scroll and laid them out neatly for burial. There's about twenty of them (as much as he can fit in one trip), so hopefully that many holes between Jean and the other grave diggers.]

You need a break? I can take over for you for a stretch after we get these guys in the ground.

Clinic might, though. We have one of those set up here, right? [Someone's bound to get injured bringing buildings down, he imagines.]

Who knows. Not everyone lives in a bubble, and some of these guys were MSF. If they had any loved ones, some of them might fly out to see it.
