Mission: Burying the Past in Zompania
Who: Anyone who volunteered
What: A very special mission that will bring you honor. Or maybe just traumatic memories. Whatever.
When: July 20th - July 24th
Where: Zompania, or what's left of it
Summary: Mission detailed here. There are graves to dig and buildings to raze, and plenty more for the volunteers to stay busy with.

Viewing an arm on fire should be more shocking than the interesting that it is, but their practises with flames safely covering the body takes away any worry that might've been there.
Venusaur and Snorlax both stopped in their places to watch, no particular expression on Venusaur's face than the usual, but Snorlax ends up turning back to his building with a grunt. Red, however, shows more of an impressive appearance on his face - and he is impressed.
A power like that... think of what it could do.
But any moment to spare to make a comment is taken when Snorlax roars out in his lungs, fists out and clenched tightly. Venusaur gets the right idea to begin backing out of the hole made by their previous building, growling out a word of warning to the other pokémon. But whatever, he'll do what he wants.
Which - while his attitude is always apparent when not sleeping - he shows his intent through a glowing in one fist. He backs up the arm, even taking a step back as an amount of power accumulates into that one area. A not well-trained attack, but that won't stop Snorlax from using it right now.
It works at least when he sends the punch straight into the side, and it sends the whole building exploding inward - mostly. Unfortunately, the roof has other ideas, an obvious sight to anyone watching. Venusaur's preparing to light up an energy ball towards it, while Red - who has to force himself to stop moving forward - takes that clever(???) idea of trying to slow down the rubble from reaching his pokémon, calling out his name.

omfg][The sound of Snorlax's roar catches Karis's attention, and she turns to see the Pokemon throw his fist into the building.] Did he just...
[By the archmages. Well the roof didn't like that, and Karis would quickly find her feet moving her toward Red and his Pokemon, almost out of instinct.]

goes the roof on top of Snorlax's head.
There's not enough to bury him, and Snorlax's noggin' bobbing to getting knocked can be seen through the dust.
But let's not fear, for when that dust does settle, the pokémon will be standing on his feet. Still, until he makes loud intakes, one after another, after another...
And he sneezes down into the dust, kicking up more. UGH. Time for him to rub his nose and kick his feet out of the rubble and get onto the street, ready to sneeze again. ]
Snorlax! [ At least Red was covered in a suit and didn't have to worry about the dust. He pats down his pokémon's large stomach, his complaints echoing in his overalls. ] Don't do that, okay? We're not just here for a day, so be more c--
[ And with Red knocking up the dust in Snorlax's face, the pokémon releases his sneeze over his trainer.
....sssiiigghh. ]

But once he's not so focused on that or the fact he pokémon recklessly pushed up the building, Karis's amusement does cause a pinch of embarrassment and amusement in one. ]
He's such a show off... [ heh. Snorlax doesn't even care, coughing into his hand and then waving it as he goes to the next building, Venusaur growling at him as she follows. ]

It's okay. [ She does make him try to brush himself off more though. ] It's not going to be any good out here anyway.
[ Oh, but speaking of items, and that Red's been reminded of Karis's way of controlling her magic. ] Have you got enough stuff for your magic? I've seen weapons laying around.

[ He mumbles by the last word, thinking about the littered weapons here and there. It wasn't that long ago - didn't feel that long ago, standing back in these streets - that they were being used to strike people down -- bashed into his pokémon too.
Were there any here now in rubble of what was around them now? He eyes more closer, both lost in some curiosity and lost in his thoughts. ]

Okay. Hi Karis. ]
Do you know how to use a weapon?

Firearms is the guns, right? I know magic is a weapon, but...
[ But it wasn't exactly what he meant. ]

[ Firearms is still such a new thing to this boy...! ]

Have you ever faced off against a shift hunter and used invisibility to try and get away?

Red had enough of that for one draft.
The air becomes louder as the pokémon work to take down the building, care given now to how they fall with Venusaur there to remind Snorlax to be more thoughtful. Red tangles his legs down into a cross-legged position as he decides to sit on the hard ground; there's some dust, but the pokémon are far away enough from them to not be shooting up his nose. Pikachu takes the space in his lap with his trainer's decision, his electricity no good on the buildings.
Unfortunately, being here in Zompania makes Red's mind wander more to the city than being in Luceti had, to the fighting. It was odd too, though; this was Zompania, wasn't it, but it was more empty and slow - no need to rush around, no constant surprises or tough moments - and for that it was like a totally different city. Blood and weapons were still scattered around, and the corpses that once laid in the streets were now waiting to be buried side by side far off, but it was still not the Zompania Red knew. That place was being laid to rest as well. ]

It felt strange, to view the state of a place after a battle, one that felt like it lasted far longer than it truly did. It also left a bitter taste in her mouth. From all the previous battles she had been in, not once had she returned to see the condition in which those fields lay in, and thus, Zompania marks the first. If there ever was another draft like this one, and cleanup was needed, Karis would more than likely not go, not after this.]
Hopefully...this place will brighten up a little in the future. [This was said in attempt to possibly comfort herself, it didn't really help much, though her voice didn't hold much confidence, especially with how small it was at the moment.]

Do you think they'll rebuild here again? [ His voice is softer than before. Do people do that? Ground down buildings and restart again in the same place? ]

However, I have heard that, sometimes, when certain events leave a place in ruins like this, it stays in ruins...it never recovers. [And she hopes from the bottom of her heart that Zompania recovers in some way shape or form.]

But how close was Zompania to Luceti? How close was one place to another? You couldn't leave to go to one place to the next except in situation like these as far as Red knew.
Did Karis know differently? He wonders, but then remembers that she hasn't been around that much longer than himself. ]
Who lived here? [ Out of anywhere his thoughts could go, that comes to him. ] Did they always live here? Did they come from another world like us?
[ ... ] When all the fighting's over and people can go back, is there going to be anyone still here?
[ Red pats a hand to the ground beside him, fingers - suited fingers, but fingers all the same - dragging up the fragments of dirt up over them. He's not really asking Karis but - he needs to say it. He doesn't want to keep his thoughts inside.
But an answer would be nice. Maybe not from Karis, but someone. Someone who could see a better future, and more. What did he even see? Him, himself, here for this world.
Why does he think he could be a person to help? ]
