Mission: Burying the Past in Zompania
Who: Anyone who volunteered
What: A very special mission that will bring you honor. Or maybe just traumatic memories. Whatever.
When: July 20th - July 24th
Where: Zompania, or what's left of it
Summary: Mission detailed here. There are graves to dig and buildings to raze, and plenty more for the volunteers to stay busy with.
Rating: PG-13 for probable mentions of gore and other sad things
Direct further questions here!

[Man...]
What world and/or time period are you from?

Japan, the second year of Keio. Which is uh... 1866 in the western calendar, I think?

Well at least we're from the same country and I don't have to go asking about some other weird, less technologically advanced world.
2004 here, grandpa.

Hn. Over a hundred years - how much has changed? [The question is half-rhetorical, because he suspects the answer is 'a lot']

[No really, please don't make him talk about political upheavals. He yawned through lessons you no doubt consider very important.]

I do, but there are probably people more willing to give it. [there's a hint of teasing there because Isamu is, clearly, still a kid, even by the definition of Hijikata's time. He didn't really expect a full recitation, particularly not in the middle of a mass graveyard]

In fact there's an actual school. I'm sure there's someone with Japanese history knowledge there somewhere.
[He has no idea, really. He's been avoiding the place.]

Hn. I'll ask around when I get back. [Maybe Souji knows. He's been here longer]

[This conversation has been a nice diversion from the task at hand, but now he sighs and looks back down at the dirt.]
Well. Before they start yelling at us...

[Hijikata nods slightly]
Mm. It was good to meet you. [And he finds he actually means that]

[He gives a small salute.]
