Iiiiit's Monday, and that means it's time for class!

Who: All the fine students of Luceti U!
What: IT'S TIME FOR COLLEGE, YO.
When: September 8 - 12th.
Where: All over "campus".
Summary: It's the first week of class for all you wonderful students, both new and old! Enjoy catching up with friends, trying to find your classes, engaging in all aspects of college life, and... let's not forget about the upcoming game.
Rating: PG-13 at best, guys. I know this is supposed to be college but if you're going to engage in the more... racy aspects of college life, take it off-comm!

This is the general catch-all log for the event. You know the drill by now. There's a separate log going up that will be used for Featherbook. Please feel free to use the two logs in tandem with one another. In fact, we encourage it!

/Your words, not mine./

[Though to be fair, a guy who has a scholarship named after himself... yeah.]

/Likes owls a lot too. Not that there's anything wrong with that, owls are very majestic animals.

[And contrary to popular belief, not very intelligent at all.]

[She laughs faintly, gesturing over towards the portrait of a crow on her wall.]

And not nearly as intelligent as crows.

/Few birds are as intelligent as crows. C-O-R-V-I-D-S are a very intelligent family. A-T-H-E-N-A picked the wrong bird./

She surely did. It's really interesting to see just how crows are perceived, too. Symbols of death...but also the sun, and life. Mysticism and magic.

Far more fascinating than owls. They're just 'smart'

[Including airquotes!]

/O-D-I-N had H-U-G-I-N-N and M-U-N-I-N-N, A-P-O-L-L-O had his ravens, The indigenous people of the Pacific Northwest had raven, creator and trickster god./

[Ginia pauses and huffs softly, realizing she's gone off on a tangent.]

/Maybe my major should have been cultural anthropology and lore./

Oh, I don't mind. Folklore studies was my minor when I was in school. Did you know in my country, crows were responsible for all messages between the earth and sky? And for guiding the first people to that land? Or...so the stories go, anyway.

/I didn't know that, though I admit my knowledge of Asian myths are lacking. I'm hoping to fix some of that with Japanese history and culture classes this semester, but do you have any suggestions on books to read?/

There are some anthologies by Yei Theodora Ozaki. They're standard first year reading, so give them a look.
