[Being convincing can be hard for Aang, especially in a complicated sitiation like this. How he wishes he could bend Shikamaru out pf thin air so that he could explain better.]

I'm sorry, too... that I don't remember. But I don't think it's a matter of memories being right or wrong... just different.

Either way... I'm not really busy right now. If it's okay with you, I hope to really get to know you two... all over again for you. [He knows ut can be hurtful getting to know people who don't remember you, but he wants to leave that option out there.]

[She's uncertain, truth be told. Her son is easily placated most of the time, since he's well aware of how memories can shift. It's possible that one more round of the spinning-ball game and a bit of distraction will perk him right back up. But the game of forgive-and-forget-and-befriend is exhausting the more often it occurs, and she worries, sometimes, how that can affect someone over the long term. She's felt it plenty.

It's no reason to give up, though. It's never good to give up. She doesn't want her son to learn that lesson, ever.

So after a long moment she manages a small smile. Start with a slow truce, work from there. She can do that.]
