[Closed] A Terrible Time to Fall in Love
Who: Sokka and Eleanor
What: An attempt at a rather romantic date
When: Backlogged to a day or two before the Red Guy tells them they're going home
Where: At the Restaurant and then that cabin in the mountains
Summary: Sokka fell for someone at perhaps the worst time, but he doesn't quite know it yet. But since he knows it's on borrowed time anyway, he's going to be celebrating things to the fullest. So, naturally, he's going to be all nice and charming.
Rating: PG-13 at the worst. Whatever that is in TV ratings.
Sokka has dressed up for the occasion. After being in Luceti for almost a year, he's finally gotten used to this definition of fashion that comes from worlds that aren't his. So Sokka isn't dressed up in blue at all. There's not a speck of the colour on him. Instead, he's found some nice normal slacks and a fire red shirt with a black tie. The tie is going to be... a mess of a knot since he's never had to tie one of them himself before, but hey, the effort is what's important, right? Right?
And with the beginning of spring, well, there aren't many flowers to speak of, but Sokka stopped by Azelia anyway and picked up some cloth flowers. After all, it seems proper enough. And of course, he told Eleanor that they would be going on a surprise tonight well in advance. After all, it's been a month since they've started dating, and... okay, so maybe it's not exactly an anniversary or something else, but Sokka doesn't know how many milestones they're going to get to celebrate, so it's a special occasion anyway.
With that, Sokka comes to pick Eleanor up, right on time: six-thirty PM sharp. He knocks on the door and waits for her to answer. "Knock, knock!" he calls out afterwards, as if to make it all the clearer that he's here.

"Ah...just a moment." She called out, looking around the room for some sort of distraction she could use to send him away. It wasn't that she didn't want to go, it was just...such a terrible idea. Going on a date? She didn't date. She couldn't date! Dating was something normal girls did. And Eleanor would never get to be that.
Yet she had gotten dressed, she thought, as her eyes fell in the mirror near her door. She actually looked nice, with a swishy ankle-length dark blue skirt and a simple white blouse. Well, nice, but still much too thin in her estimation.
But all that was besides the point. She couldn't go, and that was that. But...Sokka would be awfully disappointed, wouldn't he? He was standing outside the door right now, waiting. Probably looking cute, even, in whatever he wore. Could she do that to him? Accept him and then reject him in the span of a week?
No. That was something her mother would do, like a game. She couldn't do that. So she had to go on the date, even if it was a terrible idea, so he wouldn't be disappointed. Right? Right.
"Ugh." She groaned at herself, shaking her head, and then sucked in a breath and tugged the front door open, managing the best smile she could.
Yup. There he was. Looking cute.
"Hi."

This is going to be yet another instance of Sokka "convincing" Eleanor to do something she kind of sort of didn't want to do, isn't it?All things considered, Sokka didn't mind waiting. After all, he'd learned to wait on girls getting ready. Less so his sister, though that had happened sometimes, though when Suki needed to put on all of her makeup, well, he knew how long it took for her to get into her warrior's dress, even if she was much more expedient at it than he'd have originally given her credit for.
Of course, Sokka is none the wiser of the internal struggles Eleanor has been facing in the many many minutes leading up to his knock at the door when she finally answers. Of course, he probably knew by now that she was going to be on edge and worried about things—par for the course really—but he wasn't going to bring it up unless strictly necessary. He just wanted to try to show her a good time. And, maybe, just maybe, he could convince her that she was more normal than she thought.
"Hey," he says with a happy smile. Perhaps a cute smile? She could be the judge of that. As for her, well, "You look... wonderful!" He looks back to her before suddenly remembering that he's holding a bouquet of sorts. "Oh yeah, I wanted to get you some real flowers, but... it's still a bit early for them sadly. So hopefully these will do. At least you don't need to put these in water, huh?" Hey, if anything, he would always try to joke around a little bit. She seemed to like that.
"Do you want to leave these here before we go?" Because they are going, right? Right?
