Where: Around town, into the mountains, into the forest, wherever they want to run
Summary: Yuffie's bored so to keep her from getting herself in trouble (or dead) trying to find something to do, Duo's offered to race her around. The point of the game is to catch Duo.
Rating: Usual PG13-R rating for Duo's mouth

The sun was bright overhead, making the day warm already. Duo flicked his braid back and forth as he waited for Yuffie to show up. He was excited for the upcoming race. Life in Luceti was almost boring without experiments and it was starting to get to the pilot. He'd stretched and warmed up that morning, getting ready to race his friend around. This was going to be fun.

Duo cursed when he turned to see everyone just standing around. They should have been panicked or something. He almosted missed the war and the fear a running kid could cause. At least they could have been like L2 and not even noticed, instead going back their business.

Yuffie smiled as she kept on running. At the very least he could've pushed someone! That would've gotten everybody to move!! But she's happy he didn't, that would've messed with her! "You ruined your own plan there!!"

"Hey! Not my fault people here are weird!" Duo thought about taking off into the mountains, but after seeing Yuffie make that jump, he doubted he'd be faster than her on the rocky terain. His eyes swept back and forth, looking for some way to disappear. he spun around another corner at full speed. There! Someone'd left a window open. Duo only prayed that no one was home as he launched himself though the window and into the house. He didn't take time to look around as he rolled to his feet and back tracked through the house.

"Nah, it's the Malnossos!!" Yuffie followed him around the corner with another jump off a close house. But when she didn't see him when she got there, she thought of stopping, but that would only give Duo even more of a gap! So, she decided to jump onto the roof of the house that had that open window, even thought she didn't notice it, and she looked around for him.

She looks round in all directions as quickly as she could, but she doesn't spot him!! If she doesn't see him within a few more seconds, she's going in the house below her!!!

Duo's head jerked up at the clattering on the roof and cursed again. Dammit, she wasn't supposed to jump up there, she was supposed to continue on thinking he was just around the next corner. His fingers went to one of the small, distraction explosives he kept in his overshirt, but shook the idea out of his head. This wasn't his house and he wasn't going to blow his way out just to distract Yuffie.

Cursing again, Duo made his way to the front door and slipped out as quietly as he could, pressing himself against the wall and waiting until he thought Yuffie was looking another way. He took off again.

Yuffie sighed. She really didn't want to jump in the house, because probably as soon as she did, he would probably end up running straight out! So she just kept on looking around as quickly as possible, fully prepared to jump off at any direction.

And maybe if he didn't see her first, she could tackle him!!

Duo continued running, feet light and trying not to make a sound as his braid fluttered like a flag. He couldn't hear Yuffie behind him and he really didn't want to take a chance to check on her. He was running full out, trying to make up his lead again.

Yuffie, thankfully, spotted him as soon as he dashed out into her sight. But, there were still people on the ground, and now he has a bit of a lead, so now, she's going to be using the roofs.

She easily jumps from roof to roof without having to slow her pace to do so. And even though there is a slightly bigger gap now, she won't use her wings until it was fully necessary!

Duo's feet raced over the ground as he continued running around houses. He couldn't figure it out. He couldn't hear Yuffie behind him, couldn't see her when he looked, but he still felt like he had to keep running. Something was wrong.

Duo broke from the houses and made for the river. He needed somewhere he could look for Yuffie and see her coming with enough time to take off again.

Yuffie smiled when he left the village and took for the forest. She could use the trees easily without Duo being able to hear or see her.

She quickly took off to a couple houses away from where Duo was running, thought she still managed to keep an eye on him, and jumped into a tree. And she easily made her way closer to him, though still keeping enough distance that he shouldn't be able to either her or see her unless he stopped, and looked for at least half a minute.

Trees raced past Duo and he had to watch carefully to keep from tripping on the leave litter or a root. This still wasn't right. His instincts were screaming at him that he was being chased, but he couldn't figure out where. Trusting his luck, Duo started twisting around trees, leaving the river behind and plunging into the thicker trees. When he felt it was right, he ducked behind a thick one and stood stock still. Shinigami settled over him and his senses cast out into the forest trying to find the young woman he was running from. He smiled as he panted, but otherwised stayed quiet.

Yuffie was completely surprised that he had stopped!! If she could stay quiet, and not make any leaves fall, this chase would soon be over!!

She quietly, quickly, and carefully jumped through the trees. When she got to a tree behind him, she smiled. She was up high enough so that more than 97% of her body was covered by leaves, though she could still see him quiet clearly.

Now she had to choices! Either jump him from above, or get to the ground a get him then. But she was going to wait a few more moments to see what he ends up doing.

Duo cast around, looking for anyb sign of Yuffie. Leaves falling wouldn't have made much difference to Duo since he'd spent so little time in the forest. It was the same sense that made him good at B&E, that told him when a guard was on the other side of a door that had him pushing away from the tree and making a break for it. "Not gunna make it that easy for ya Yuffie!"

Yuffie sighed quietly. If he didn't run that soon, she could've gotten him!!

But she quickly followed him again, using the trees, trying to keep as quiet as possible.

Trees flashed by Duo as he ran between them. He'd really hoped he could have gotten Yuffie's location out of her by yelling. Clearly she already knew he was and it was pissing him off. His fingers brushed against the flash and smoke bombs in his overshirt, but he dropped that idea when he realized he didn't know where Yuffie was and he'd be upset if she caught even an edge of that blast.

Tingling started to spread over Duo's skin. It was a warning, but not one he knew. He turned to look for Yuffie when his body crashed into what felt like a brick wall. Pain spread through his cheek and chin as he bounced back to the ground, feeling a little fried and smashed.

Yuffie wasn't expecting him to crash into anything. That completely made her forget about the race, and she jumped down from the trees and raced over to him.

When she got over to him, she crouched down beside him, and stared at him. "Hey, Duo!! You better not pass out on me!!" She was a bit worried, but she was going to guess that he could stand running into something...even if it was at a pretty high speed.

"Ow..." Duo reached up to rup his face and head. "Found the barrier I guess. Damn, feels like I ran inta a Gundam." He sits up and shakes his head, wobbling as things move a little. That freaking hurt and it ruined their game. "I'll be fine. Just a headache. Don't think I got a concussion."

(ooc: Do we have any specifics on the barrier, what it looks like and what it does? If not, I'm going with what I usually see about magic barriers.)

"You gonna be okay?" Yuffie stood up, and reached her hand out to help him up. Maybe going this far into the forest wasn't their best idea for this game? Ah well, they still got a decent amount of exercise, right?

"And...what's a Gundam?"

[ooc: Yanno...I wouldn't really know. I would guess that we can see it, but I'm not totally sure...]

"Yeah, yeah." He took her hand and pulled himself to his feet. He paused a moment, turning his head back and forth to look at the barrier blocking their way. It was weird, like you couldn't focus on it and could really only see it out of the corner of your eye. The air on his arms stood on end from where he was and he now realized it was a warning that he was too close to the sheet of magic.

"Hard. Big, hard, and somethin' ta don't wanna run into even if ya don't hit it." He sounded distracted as he continued turning his head and studying the barrier. His hand came up to rub over it and his entire arm tingled. It was like touching a solid wall of electricity.

"Reminds me of the barrier at the northern cave!!" Though that barrier was a bit different...if you got to close to it, it could even blow up Cids' Airship!!

Yuffie kicked it lightly a few times. She wanted to know just how thick it was, if it could be broken, anything. This is really her first time seeing this, even though she spent more than most of her time in the forest, and in the mountains. She always decided to steer clear of the barrier because she was always alone...but now was a good time! She had somebody with her!

"Hey! Wanna look around for a little bit?! Couldn't hurt!!"

He turns to look at her. "Ya know, that's the kinda thing people wanna know before they smash their face inta somethin'. A well, looks like I'm still lucky and didn't get blasted. Don't wanna explain ta Has why I have no face."

Duo slid his hands up and down the wall before stepping back and looking around for a rock or something. "Sure, just wanna try something." He grabs a chunk of wood and backs up a little more. The wood go flying high into the air toward the barrier... and flys through. Duo squints and picks up another piece of wood, wondering if it could be that easy. The second piece goes flying and passes though about the same place Duo slammed into. "Dammit. Knew they wouldn't have been that dumb. Looks like they made it so animals and stuff can go through, just not us. Good piece of work, the bastards."

He shrugged and walked back to the barrier. "Sure. Let's walk along this. Nothin' better ta do while I wait for the buzzin' in my head ta go away."

(ooc: I'm making up a lot of stuff about the barrier without knowing what anyone else has said. I do think I saw something about animals being able to go through so I assume trees and other things can as well or there could be a line of dead trees and stuff. Anyone has a problem with it, let me know.)

Yuffie stared at the barrier for a few moments. She was starting to wonder how high the barrier actually went up. There also has to be someplace where the barrier opens, right? But thinking along the lines of how well this barrier is made, there might not be an opening that is open all the time...might be able to open up whenever only they want it to? Eh, might be something good to figure out sooner or later.

"Alright! I also wanna check something out too! I heard there was a stream running through the barrier! Who know?!" She was pretty much talking to herself with that sentence, so she started to walk. Though she did look back to make sure Duo was actually following her, and not on the ground.

"Sounds like a place ta start lookin' for a way though. It's gotta be constantly lettin' the water through." He followed after her, keeping his hands on the barrier and feeling his way along it. He was thinking there might be a place away from the generator or whatever was keeping it up that might be weak. It was a long shot, but it was a shot. "Could use a chance ta wash the sweat off too. I'll jump in and check the barrier in the stream."

(ooc: So I guess their in the north part of the forest and heading east toward the mountain if they're actually going to run into the stream?)

Yuffie laughed. "You're sweaty from just that?!" She wasn't really, so that's the only reason she had to laugh at that!!

She looked from side to side as she kept walking.She hasn't been here, so something around here might help, right?

[ooc: I already suck at directions...I'll just go with that XD]

Duo laughed and looked at her kind of funny. "Have ya seen what I'm wearin'? Two shirts, one a turtle neck, and thick pants. Gets hot in here on a good day." His hands move up and down the wall, pushing and trying to find some weakness. Eventually his arms started to tingle too much and he'd pull them away and shake them.

(ooc: I can't find my way out of a coset without a map and guide. We need a new map. I should comment about that. We have more houses than are on the map.)
