Where: Around town, into the mountains, into the forest, wherever they want to run
Summary: Yuffie's bored so to keep her from getting herself in trouble (or dead) trying to find something to do, Duo's offered to race her around. The point of the game is to catch Duo.
Rating: Usual PG13-R rating for Duo's mouth

The sun was bright overhead, making the day warm already. Duo flicked his braid back and forth as he waited for Yuffie to show up. He was excited for the upcoming race. Life in Luceti was almost boring without experiments and it was starting to get to the pilot. He'd stretched and warmed up that morning, getting ready to race his friend around. This was going to be fun.

"Ow..." Duo reached up to rup his face and head. "Found the barrier I guess. Damn, feels like I ran inta a Gundam." He sits up and shakes his head, wobbling as things move a little. That freaking hurt and it ruined their game. "I'll be fine. Just a headache. Don't think I got a concussion."

(ooc: Do we have any specifics on the barrier, what it looks like and what it does? If not, I'm going with what I usually see about magic barriers.)

"You gonna be okay?" Yuffie stood up, and reached her hand out to help him up. Maybe going this far into the forest wasn't their best idea for this game? Ah well, they still got a decent amount of exercise, right?

"And...what's a Gundam?"

[ooc: Yanno...I wouldn't really know. I would guess that we can see it, but I'm not totally sure...]

"Yeah, yeah." He took her hand and pulled himself to his feet. He paused a moment, turning his head back and forth to look at the barrier blocking their way. It was weird, like you couldn't focus on it and could really only see it out of the corner of your eye. The air on his arms stood on end from where he was and he now realized it was a warning that he was too close to the sheet of magic.

"Hard. Big, hard, and somethin' ta don't wanna run into even if ya don't hit it." He sounded distracted as he continued turning his head and studying the barrier. His hand came up to rub over it and his entire arm tingled. It was like touching a solid wall of electricity.

"Reminds me of the barrier at the northern cave!!" Though that barrier was a bit different...if you got to close to it, it could even blow up Cids' Airship!!

Yuffie kicked it lightly a few times. She wanted to know just how thick it was, if it could be broken, anything. This is really her first time seeing this, even though she spent more than most of her time in the forest, and in the mountains. She always decided to steer clear of the barrier because she was always alone...but now was a good time! She had somebody with her!

"Hey! Wanna look around for a little bit?! Couldn't hurt!!"

He turns to look at her. "Ya know, that's the kinda thing people wanna know before they smash their face inta somethin'. A well, looks like I'm still lucky and didn't get blasted. Don't wanna explain ta Has why I have no face."

Duo slid his hands up and down the wall before stepping back and looking around for a rock or something. "Sure, just wanna try something." He grabs a chunk of wood and backs up a little more. The wood go flying high into the air toward the barrier... and flys through. Duo squints and picks up another piece of wood, wondering if it could be that easy. The second piece goes flying and passes though about the same place Duo slammed into. "Dammit. Knew they wouldn't have been that dumb. Looks like they made it so animals and stuff can go through, just not us. Good piece of work, the bastards."

He shrugged and walked back to the barrier. "Sure. Let's walk along this. Nothin' better ta do while I wait for the buzzin' in my head ta go away."

(ooc: I'm making up a lot of stuff about the barrier without knowing what anyone else has said. I do think I saw something about animals being able to go through so I assume trees and other things can as well or there could be a line of dead trees and stuff. Anyone has a problem with it, let me know.)

Yuffie stared at the barrier for a few moments. She was starting to wonder how high the barrier actually went up. There also has to be someplace where the barrier opens, right? But thinking along the lines of how well this barrier is made, there might not be an opening that is open all the time...might be able to open up whenever only they want it to? Eh, might be something good to figure out sooner or later.

"Alright! I also wanna check something out too! I heard there was a stream running through the barrier! Who know?!" She was pretty much talking to herself with that sentence, so she started to walk. Though she did look back to make sure Duo was actually following her, and not on the ground.

"Sounds like a place ta start lookin' for a way though. It's gotta be constantly lettin' the water through." He followed after her, keeping his hands on the barrier and feeling his way along it. He was thinking there might be a place away from the generator or whatever was keeping it up that might be weak. It was a long shot, but it was a shot. "Could use a chance ta wash the sweat off too. I'll jump in and check the barrier in the stream."

(ooc: So I guess their in the north part of the forest and heading east toward the mountain if they're actually going to run into the stream?)

Yuffie laughed. "You're sweaty from just that?!" She wasn't really, so that's the only reason she had to laugh at that!!

She looked from side to side as she kept walking.She hasn't been here, so something around here might help, right?

[ooc: I already suck at directions...I'll just go with that XD]

Duo laughed and looked at her kind of funny. "Have ya seen what I'm wearin'? Two shirts, one a turtle neck, and thick pants. Gets hot in here on a good day." His hands move up and down the wall, pushing and trying to find some weakness. Eventually his arms started to tingle too much and he'd pull them away and shake them.

(ooc: I can't find my way out of a coset without a map and guide. We need a new map. I should comment about that. We have more houses than are on the map.)

Yuffie kept smiling. "And that's why I don't wear clothes like that! Maybe you should find something a bit lighter?"

[ooc: Lol, I'm mostly the same way...I'd luv anybody that drew a detailed map~]

"'s good for work. Protects my nice ass and stuff. Also good for hidin' stuff and hidin' in shadows." He scuffs some dirt through the barrier to see if it feels any different.

(ooc: I'd love them too. I wish I could do it, but I really have no skill for it.)

"What the heck would you need to hide in your clothes here?" She watched the dirt go through, and that annoyed her. Why could everything else but them get though?!

[ooc: If someone would give me like...a week, I might be able to do it?]

That earned her another weird look. "Lots of stuff. Food colorin' for when Kam comes back to make sauce for me again, explosives, flash bombs, candy, B&E tools, some candy, feather from Has, and whatever else I feel like carryin'."

(ooc: I don't see why anyone would stop you.)

Well that made her shut up...Usually if she needed something, she would rush somewhere to go get it. The only things she usually carried was her shuriken, and materia! She couldn't stand loose clothes, and she really figured that out when she had to borrow clothes from her guy friends when she actually turned into a guy! Those clothes got stuck on everything!!

"So where's this stream supposed ta be?" The tingling got bad enough again he had to pull his hands away and shake them for a couple steps. "I'm startin' ta go numb and I haven't felt this thing weaken at all."

(ooc: And that double candy thing is what happens when I'm interrupted while tagging.)

"Heck if I know. Sephiroth was the one that told me about it. I wasn't gonna ask him directions!!" By now...she was seriously thinking of trying to run up the thing! But...she's not to sure about how that'd work.."Maybe...if this thing is run by generators, then there is more than just one?

[ooc: I was gonna have Yuffie say something about that...good thing I thought not too XD (I just revised mine...I got interrupted too XD]

Duo laughs at her and sticks his tongue out. "So we're wandering around with no idea where we're goin' 'cause you don't like the guy enough ta ask what he's talkin' about?" The sun glinted on his hair as he shook his head.

He thought about that for a moment. "Could be. It's big enough ta need a more not ta mention it's selective. That's gotta take more power and programmin'. What kinda generator makes this though? I don't know shit 'bout magic. If it is a generator like what I'm used ta, I know I could bring this thing down if I got my hands on it. Take the thing apart and make the Malnosso bastards eat it."

(ooc: Thank you for not saying anything. I could have tried to save it by having Duo pull out several kinds of candy, but I'd really rather ignore it.)

"Pretty much! But it's not like it should be that hard to find, right? We just gotta follow the barrier!" She frowns. She never did like asking for directions anyway...

"It...could be run by magic though... That would explain why it doesn't have any weak points." This really did remind her of Sephiroths' barrier! And it was annoying already!

"Not hard ta find when we get near it, but don't know how big this barrier is. We could be walkin' for a while. Sounda brought snacks." Of course Duo was thinking with his stomach again. He was getting spoiled by this constant supply of good food.

Duo pressed his hand against the wall again, trying to think about that. "If it's magic, doesn't that mean that someone has to keep it up? What happens if they get tired or somethin'? Does it get weaker? Could we distract the Malnosso enough that whoever's makin' this thing lets it falter a little?"

She laughed. "If we start fainting from hunger, we can go back!" She was already used to not eating much. She was usually really busy, so she didn't always have time to eat!

"That would depend on what kind of magic. Usually once it's set up, only the one that put it up can get it down...unless something really, really strong hits it! And it's not like we can make a huge laser here, right?"

"But what if I'm hungry and not fainting? What am I gunna do then? I'm a growing boy. We need food." Duo softened his whining by grinning at her. It wasn't like he'd had to go entire missions without eating, but it was something to tease Yuffie about.

"They don't need a constant energy supply or attention? Damn. If we got a laser, no one told me and I doubt we got the parts ta make one." He sighed and switched hands again. "Wish I had 'Scythe. Bet a thurmal beam'd go through it."

Yuffie smiled. Usually she was the one doing the whining! "Then find something in the forest! Just don't eat any random mushrooms!!"

"I'm...not really to sure! Ugh, this would be so much easier if we actually knew what was keeping this thing up!"

He blinked at her for a while. "You eat stuff outta here? Are you serious? That's so weird... fresh food's one thing, but eatin' stuff outta a forest? That's way too weird."

He shurged at her. "Beats me. I'd rather think it's an actual generator 'cause there's a chance they'll have ta shut it down for maintenance at some point."

(ooc: Up to if and when they run into that stream... I think this is an example of the muses taking on a mind of their own. Weren't they supposed to be racing?)

She looked at him, slightly confused by that statement. "What? You sayin' you just starve if you're out in a forest for like a week? There's a lot of food out here!" She only knows this from experience.

She sighed. "But knowing the Malnosso, they might end up having back-up generators."

[ooc: That's fine by me! XD It'll give Yuffie a chance to go for a swim! XD]

Duo stared back at her. "No, I'd pack rations -nasty as they are- and eat those. Otherwise I'd have to slip into a town and nick somethin'. You can really survive out here for a week without rations? People on Earth are even more strange than I thought."

"And they're probably smart enough ta have the spare timed ta switch on and be runnin' before the other fails. Could still hope that the thing blows up or somethin' unexpected." Duo was losing hope that the barrier would fail. He wondered if there was a way to create enough interfereance to disrupt it enough to let someone through.

(ooc: *sigh* I need to pay more attention. That was supposed to say it's up to you.)
