Who: L (
mysweetjustice) and B (
seeyourtime)
What: L meets his demise
When: Sometime after his entry has been made
Where: Light's apartment in community building 2.
Summary: To put it bluntly? A bloodbath
Rating: R
L had no idea where Light had ran off to. Perhaps he went to go see if Misa was alright because of the current situation they were in. Indeed it was one that wouldn't turn out for the best. Especially not for L. He had a feeling that something would go wrong and that's why he barricaded himself in the apartment. He was currently hiding out in Light's room. Besides the door of Light's room being locked, there was a rather large oak desk now positioned in front of it to block anyone from gaining access easily. L crouched upon a chair in the middle of the room. It was completely dark except for a small candle that had been lit and placed in a black holder which was sitting atop of the nightstand.

"I'm not going to give up that easily, B."
He says and picks up the lighter that was sitting on top of the nightstand and walks over to the door, standing a few feet away from it now. He flicks it open, a flame dancing from off the mouthpiece of it.
"Don't think I won't. If you even try to stick your hand through that door..."

"I'd really rather not, B."
He noticed another open window right beside him that lead into a different apartment. It must have been luck. No, not luck. Possibly fate? But were those things even real? Perhaps. Anything is possible at Luceti, anyways. He climbed into the window, ending up in a different apartment. The kitchen of one to be exact. But it was dark inside. Fingers began to search for the lighter he had pocketed

"Why don't you just stop while you're ahead, B! Quit this nonsense. Lets drop this and just pretend like it never happened. We can forget all this, move past it, and work on getting out of Luceti together!"

He didn't even hesitate for another minute. He lunged at B, acting as though he was going to stab him, but instead dropped the lighter at his feet, flame still open, hoping that it would be enough of a distraction to make a quick escape as he dashed towards the door.
Always try to distract your opponents when it comes to fighting so they don't see your next move. What was L going to do after this? Run and keep running. Possibly hide. Both. He wasn't about to give in that easily.

He could either go towards his right which held even more darkness. Or he could go left. If he went left, there was a few lanterns in the windows and he could see where he was going or at least somewhat see where he was going.
Left was turning out to be a fairly good choice right about now, so that's what he decided upon. Besides, running back into the darkness would only prove to be troublesome. The only reason why he didn't stay and fight B was because he didn't feel right about killing someone, let alone one a someone that was supposed to be one of his successors.

He remembered that his journal/communicator was hidden in the back of his pocket and he figured that maybe if he had enough time to contact Light, he could do something, anything. L needed time. That's what he needed. Just a little bit of time. He darted off into building four, the lantern that had been placed in the doorway of the complex gave off an eerie glow.
He flipped open his journal/communicator and pressed the audio button. "I don't know if anyone can hear me right now....But if you can..I fear this is the end..I..If you're out there, come to building four...Quick..He's...He's..." He whispers and stops instantly when he feels that if he doesn't be quiet he's going to be found sooner than later. He still, however, has the audio button switched to the on setting.

To cower in fear before a serial killer had never been something that he did. He was always the one to catch criminals. Always the one to lock them away. A shaky breath passed his lips, eyes closed tightly for a brief second then opened and he could feel the impending doom begin to surround him. This was it. This was his end and he would face it honorably. His eyes opened and he took one step and then another from out behind the staircase. There was no more running. There would be no more taking off and no more avoiding B now.
"If you want me, then come on.." He said to the younger man. His voice was flat and emotionless. He knew how this was going to end. His knife clutched tightly in his hand. He would stab B this time if he had to. He would defend himself to the very end even though it would probably be an attempt which would not turn out in his favor. "To pursue someone until they give in..That is what you've been taught..And even though you may not think so, you've done well."

No, L couldn't. No matter what. He couldn't bring himself to do such a thing. And with that he let go of the knife he had held so tightly in his hand. His eyes fixed upon B's and instead of the look being one of hatred and malice. It was one of understanding and concern. "I know, B...I know..." He said softly and drew in a ragged breath then exhaled. "To live under the shadow of someone else...To try and follow in someone's footsteps and falter...To feel the pressure of the world...I know.."
He said, and could feel himself starting to get dizzy. That gut wound was fatal and he closed his eyes again for a moment. "I only wanted him to succeed...I only wanted you and everyone else to...And upon doing so...I pushed you too hard....There is no amount of apologies that could ever make up for it...No amount of time.." He said and his eyes opened. "I'm sorry..."

"I may not know your heartache...But I know how it feels like to be under pressure...To grow up in a world where people expect so much out of you..To always wonder if you're letting people down...To distance yourself from others...To have no one to turn to...I know what that's like..." He said and drew in a breath. "If I could right the wrongs that I have done..If I could have been there for you....For him...I would...But I can't..." He said and brought up a single hand then placed it on the side of B's face gently.
"And for that, I'm sorry.." Emotions were swelling inside of him as blood bubbled within his throat and spilled passed his lips. "Go...Before they find you....Go...." He coughed and gasped for air as he lowered his hand, feeling so incredibly weak now and a a few stray tears slipped down his cheeks. He could feel the cold arms of death begin to wrap their arms around him so lovingly and the pain that echoed within himself was indescribable.

"We were brought up to think that failure..Is not an option...To struggle...To strive in life....To win...But how can one win....if one never truly lives....? There are some battles...That simply cannot be won.."
He said those words, coughing up blood in between them and the audio faded out after, as he drew in a breath then exhaled slowly. His body started to tense up and heartbeat began to slow. His mind becoming numb and the hands of death gripped him, not having any intention of letting go. He drew in his final breath, exhaled, and let his eyes fall shut.
Like a candle snuffed out by a cruel harsh wind.
It was over.
