When: March 6th
Where: The Hot Springs
Summary: Relaxation, thawing, and socializing.

That announcement goes out early in the morning, and by the afternoon the party is at least set up, snacks, beverages, extra towels, etc, are provided for enjoyment and use for any that come. By the way she finally gets to spend her time someplace warm, deep, and wide for herself, with her whole body almost entirely sunk in the hot water with a drunken expression, she is enjoying herself too much.

There's a good natured smile on Lupin's face as he addresses Daisy, mercifully not in the water and wearing a pair of swimming trunks. She has no reason to kick him, unless she happens to be in the nude and is shy about people seeing her.
He's hoping that they can meet on decent terms this time, and believes that making peace with his neighbors is important. An interesting girl like her? It's best to be on her good side.

"Lupin... Sir."
Fortunately for Lupin, the Spartan's unisex military background was a little more permissive towards this sort of thing, and she has enough common sense to go to a public spring party in a red bathing suit.

He sits down on the grounds next to her, dipping his feet in the water. The heat of everything had made him light headed, so he was taking a little break from the pools to cool off. It was...interesting, seeing her this relaxed. He smiles. "You look like you're having a good time."

She still sounds drunk. Mind you, Spartans do not drink (dictated by military law), and there are no bottles of alcohol anywhere. But judging by how her head and hair lowers back into the water and doesn't even seem to mind that Lupin's dipping his feet into the water, somehow, Daisy found a way to reach that state of mind.

He wouldn't have minded even if she was literally drunk--it was far better than getting kicked, and it gives him a chance to make nice with his upstairs neighbor. Though she's quiet, she has him deeply intrigued--intrigued enough to play nice, take things slow.
"How did your mission in the desert go, anyway?" It's an attempt at small talk, but he is genuinely curious.

"Our team returned well. We completed our objectives." When it concerns the Malnosso. "I expected a harder mission."
For her, however, it was much more. If only they got a chance to apply what she learned from that abandoned facility.
no subject
...You've gotta wonder sometimes why they have us do these missions at all, though. They have enough people to mess with our lives. Don't they have enough to do their own work?"
no subject
"Besides... I don't think they would've been as smart to survive out there."
Especially so judging by the critical missions. The Malnosso overestimated their knowledge of shifting, Daisy just learned.

Some say warfare is the legal act of stealing, and strategy often involves stealing from the enemy.
"I only steal during Ops against an enemy, but..."
Daisy once again falls into her warm ecstasy. In spite of that cloudness of her mind, at she gets to use some of it.
"You were a criminal."
She only states, but not accusingly. Matter-of-factly or that's-cool-I-don't-mind. Some friends here are pirates.

The lack of judgement is greatly appreciated. He's taken to lying about his profession half of the time because some of the lawful citizens take it upon themselves to give him a lecture--as if he were just a petty thief. They had no idea that he was so much more than a back alley thug. "I use different tactics when I'm on a job, usually involving stealth or distraction. Warfare is a completely different set--at least I've read Sun Tzu's 'The Art of War'.
That still doesn't leave me with much, though."

"It's a bible not only for military..." She remembers being told that even businessmen were taught to memorize it word by word. Spartans abide by it. "It's a lot of help in a lot of kinds of work..."
And competences.

[She's not easy to miss, even sunken down. Luke waves politely from a respectful distance, not sure how comfortable the giant soldier would be with a strange male. He'd made that mistake with Ami once already, and wasn't eager to repeat it]
no subject
She seems a little surprised to see him here, before she slowly responds.
"Better than when I arrived from the desert."
Bliss.

You were on a mission, then? Did it go well? May I ask what the Malnosso had you do?
no subject
Her head rises a little from the water.]
It did. Our only problem was settling back to the cold. [Correction: Is.] They just wanted a map of the area and let us explore as we saw fit. They didn't want to risk it with the shifts on the area and the Shift Hunters wandering around.
[And for what it was, it was an easy mission. All it did was leaving her wanting more difficult ones.
Dozens of notes and sketches from an abandoned Malnosso installation, as well, but all in time.]

[They do seem overly cautious, sending out such large groups...which means at least that THEY take the Third Party seriously. Luke, for his part, finds that oddly reassuring]
Shift Hunters don't seem like particularly menacing creatures, really. Have you been on many missions, or drafts? I've found myself willingly going on several, just to get out and honestly fight again. The Battle Dome isn't quite the same
no subject
...
[Her body sinks a little back to water.]
I know what you mean with the Dome.
no subject
[He pauses, curious]
Did your training include much hand to hand combat?
no subject
I've corrected that in here, but sometimes I wonder if I should further expand that.
[Besides, she got to request a plasma sword in the draft of June.]
no subject
[What he's saying is he'd like to have someone big and strong like you help him practice!]
I would, of course, be willing to help train you with the use of blades.
no subject
That, and she always likes having sparring partners. The combat AI's of the Battle Dome rarely compare with blue matter.]
I am. ... All I'll need is a bigger sword.
[Perhaps one fit to her size. Lina's short sword looks like a knife when she wields it as it is.]
no subject
Why don't we try and arrange that for next week? It should be warmed up nicely outside by then.
no subject
Swords and dresses, check.
Her head rises from the water... Eager.]
Of course, sir. I'd like it. I'll ask for a longsword sometime. [Still too small.] Maybe a claymore.
