Summary: It's that special time when the Malnosso collect all their recent experiments and apply them all at once to measure effectiveness. Although invaluable as research, it tends to leave the subjects looking just a bit mad.

[Day 7]

[Today, if you're walking about in the village, you may hear a snap. If you pause, you'll hear it again, and again then... there's one last snapping sound coupled with a scream. Maybe it's beside you or maybe it's a little bit away from you, but either way, a kid has just fallen out of a tree and landed on the ground.

And he's not moving either.]

[Day 8 - 10]

[For the rest of the time, little Naoi will be in a bit of a daze. He isn't sure if he's really dead or not. His mom always told him about angels and how they have wings. And he was, after all, in the hospital...

You can spot him around the school's playground, swinging on the swings there or sitting under a tree close by with his knees up to his chest and on the verge of crying.]

Day 7

[Saleh hears the snaps all right. Once he spots the kid lying on the ground, he wastes no time in rushing over to help. He kneels down beside Naoi, checking for any vital signs.]

Hello? Can you hear me?

[He waves his hand in frot of the boy's face, watching for any kind of reaction.

[Naoi's eyes are open when Saleh comes over to him but it's only when he speaks is when he blinks. His back definitely hurts and he's... trying to take in what just happened but he's all right.

So he nods just very slowly.]

[mountain_sage]

[Saleh continues to look him over, trying to assess how badly he's hurt.]

How bad is it? Can you move?

My... back hurts... [His voice is small. Almost at a whisper.

He takes a look around, tilting his head to the side to see where he is since... this definitely isn't a hospital room.] Where are we..?

[mountain_sage]

[An injured back? That sounds serious.]

This is Luceti. We're out in the forest right now. Don't move. I'm going to heal you, so just relax...

[Bringing out his staff and releasing his magical healing glow...]

[nothisbrother]

L-Luceti... ? [He flinches when he sees the glow and tries to move away]

W-Wait, what are you doing?

[mountain_sage]

[Saleh continues to cast his healing magic.]

Calm down. I'm healing your injury. It should ease the pain.

[nothisbrother]

K-Kay...

[He's a little nervous about whatever this guy is doing, but if it'll make the pain go away then he'll stay still]

Day 7?

[The snapping catches her attention; by the time she turns her head, the boy is already on the ground. Mia runs over, kneeling beside him with a worried frown when he doesn't move.]

Are you all right?

[nothisbrother]

[A voice? It's... a girl's voice but not his mother's. It's not anyone he knows.

..Then again, Naoi has never known a lot of people.

He slowly opens his eyes after a moment to let the pain dull down then looks at Mia curiously. He definitely doesn't know this woman and this definitely isn't the hospital room. So in his state of confusion, all he can do is nod at her]

[It takes him a while to answer, and the answer seems disoriented. Practice keeps her frown from turning darker - he's just a boy, she doesn't want to scare him.]

Does anything hurt?

[nothisbrother]

[Another small pause before he speaks, and it's rather quietly] M-My back...

[But that's only because when he landed, he landed on his back. Nothing's broken though!]

Oh, dear. Can you hold still for a few moments more, please?

[It's a concern she has to investigate, either way. It won't take five minutes - it's something she'll be able to identify as soon as she starts attempting to heal him.

Okay - nothing's broken. At least the spell should take the pain away, and it's a small one. He may not be able to see anything at all. When she's done, she sits back and smiles at him.]

You'll be just fine. Do you want a hand up?

[He blinks at her, wondering what just happened, especially now that the pain is gone. Did she do something?]

Y-Yes, please... [Holding a hand up] What did you do?

[Taking his offered hand, she helps him get to his feet.]

Just a little healing Psynergy. I am glad you weren't hurt.

Psy...nergy? [He gets up and stares at her curiously but then bows a little. Japanese customs man]

[As a princess, kindness was only one of many duties. So Jay could not ignore a little boy sitting by the tree (as much as he wants to). He walks silently over to Naoi, kneeling down beside him.]

No, no, no, don't do this...

Hello...what's the matter?

[When Jay kneels next to him, he brings his knees even closer to his chest and ducks his head. Like he's trying to hide. But he can't suppress the sniffles as much as he'd like to]

I wanna go home... [I want to go home and be someone.]

I wanna go home, too...

[There's a long pause. It seems the princess is quite new at this sort of thing.]

...Where do you live? Maybe I can take you home?

I wanna go home to my mom and dad... not here.

[The tears slowly start to spill over and he hiccups. It's not fair. Wasn't he just given the chance to live unlike his brother? He could make something of himself!!]

[Ouch...that definitely hits too close to home.]

Oh dear...I lost my mom and dad, too. But do you know what I did? I made a new family.

[Naoi takes a moment through his sniffling and crying to think about that. Does he want a new family? Sure his parents were never the type to pay too much attention to him but he still loved them...

And all he wants is his father's acknowledgment.. ]
