Beach Party!?

Who: Anyone who wants to come!
What: BEACH PARTY! (For Katara or something)
When: In the evening, about 7PM
Where: On the beach! Somewhere!
Summary: It's Katara's 17th and while all friends of Team Avatar are invited, anyone else can gatecrash too.
Rating: E for everyone (for God's sake there's going to be seven year olds!)

[A few days before the birthday, Katara's housemates began birthday preparations. Not quite entirely secret, but they made invitations, told friends, spread the word, and so on. Birthday on the beach. Be there or be a loser McButtface without friends.

And so there's a party! With tables! And chairs! And umbrellas! And the sun is setting, but the Malnosso had no taste and put the ocean on the east side of Luceti, so it's a sunset over the mountains which isn't as cool as an ocean sunset. But anyway. There's a volleyball net and, you know, an ocean to swim in. Also Sokka ordered a generator with his mission points and abducted the karaoke machine. It was mostly to provide some music, but people can get up and sing with it too.

As for the food? There's a table for that. It's a bring your own dish affair, since Katara is kind of their team cook and they can't exactly make her own birthday meal, right? So anyone coming can bring whatever they like and set it out. The gang brought some meals of their own, so there's bound to be some cool dishes from the air nomads, water tribe, and fire nation. And cake. A big chocolate cake. Someone made it! We don't know who. (Feel free to dibs being the baker or something if you want.)

And a table! A table for presents! Bring a present, set it there. It's very organized.]

((ooc: It's out on the beach and just a general sort of party affair, so feel free to have characters show up even if they're not friends with the birthday girl. It's a free for all. SO YOU BETTER MINGLE OR THERE'S GONNA BE WORDS.

[Aang waves at her, remembering how much fun they had the last time they met outside of school.]

Hey, Raine! How are you?

I'm doing well, Aang. Thank you. [There's a warm smile for him.] How about yourself?

Things have been... kind of hectic lately. But I feel great. Really great.

[wise_maiden]

I can imagine. I've heard that you've had some unexpected arrivals recently.

Word does get around fast. [He laughs.] Yeah, I'm now a grandpa.

Congratulations. You seem to be taking it in stride.

It helps that she's really, really amazing. And she's an Airbender, too.

That must mean a lot to you.

[There's a glimmer in his eyes as he talks to her.]

It is. It really is. I'm... not the last Airbender, anymore. [He's never going to get tired of saying it.]

[She finds herself reaching out to lightly touch his shoulder for a moment.] It's something to be proud of. Just keep taking it all in stride, all right? I can imagine there is a lot more going on to reflect on. But don't lose sight that it's an opportunity in this place, and we're still striving one day at a time to get along.

Yeah. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. And I'm gonna do everything I can to take care of her as long as she's here.

I'm certain she'll appreciate that opportunity as much as you do.

She seems to be appreciating it a lot so far. And you can probably get to know her better once school starts again.

She seems like she will bring a lot of energy with her. I'm looking forward to it.

Great. As long as she doesn't cause too much trouble!

I hope so. She is a real sweetheart after all.

And it's not as if she won't have a lot of people to help look out for her. We'll see how it goes. It'll still be a couple of months before it reopens.

[He feels the internal Luceti clash from the timeframe of a "couple of months". Part of him selfishly wants to keep Ikki around for as long as he's here. But the other part of him is worried about what Luceti can do to a person, especially someone as young and precious as Ikki, in just a few months. But he keeps up his smile for Raine.]

I'm definitely looking forward to it. And I hope I still remember everything I learned by then!

If you're worried that you've forgotten anything, I can always give you a few assignments to help get you on track.

Nonsense, it would hardly be any trouble. Studying is a valuable skill.

I can't argue if you're that okay with it. But if you're gonna do that much for me, do you think you could put something together for Ikki too? Maybe just some minor things, you know, to help her get started.

Of course! She might not be used to it, so having others encouraging those habits around her would also be a help.

Thanks, Raine! I'm sure it'd be good for her. [And hopefully keep her away from anymore depressing journal entries.] It looks like she had some good teaching back home, but the more knowledge, the better!
