Beach Party!?

Who: Anyone who wants to come!
What: BEACH PARTY! (For Katara or something)
When: In the evening, about 7PM
Where: On the beach! Somewhere!
Summary: It's Katara's 17th and while all friends of Team Avatar are invited, anyone else can gatecrash too.
Rating: E for everyone (for God's sake there's going to be seven year olds!)

[A few days before the birthday, Katara's housemates began birthday preparations. Not quite entirely secret, but they made invitations, told friends, spread the word, and so on. Birthday on the beach. Be there or be a loser McButtface without friends.

And so there's a party! With tables! And chairs! And umbrellas! And the sun is setting, but the Malnosso had no taste and put the ocean on the east side of Luceti, so it's a sunset over the mountains which isn't as cool as an ocean sunset. But anyway. There's a volleyball net and, you know, an ocean to swim in. Also Sokka ordered a generator with his mission points and abducted the karaoke machine. It was mostly to provide some music, but people can get up and sing with it too.

As for the food? There's a table for that. It's a bring your own dish affair, since Katara is kind of their team cook and they can't exactly make her own birthday meal, right? So anyone coming can bring whatever they like and set it out. The gang brought some meals of their own, so there's bound to be some cool dishes from the air nomads, water tribe, and fire nation. And cake. A big chocolate cake. Someone made it! We don't know who. (Feel free to dibs being the baker or something if you want.)

And a table! A table for presents! Bring a present, set it there. It's very organized.]

((ooc: It's out on the beach and just a general sort of party affair, so feel free to have characters show up even if they're not friends with the birthday girl. It's a free for all. SO YOU BETTER MINGLE OR THERE'S GONNA BE WORDS.

[Sorry if you were concentrating on your waterbending, there, because some girl a few yards down the shore just ran towards the waves with a whooping yell and dived in with a big, loud splash. She's followed by a Blaziken that slows to a halt well away from the water, then takes a few steps back. The Blaziken watches her trainer for a few seconds, then glances at Aang idly. Boy you have arrows all over you.]

[No biggie. Aang was just doing some minor streaming along the water. He's still startled by the sudden splashing. He turns to face the Blaziken - but being unacquainted with this Pokemon, he first assumes that it's a large chicken person. He waves meekly at the Blaziken, intending to greet the girl afterwards.]

Hello!

[The Blaziken tilts her head and caws back at him in a greeting tone. Still staring at those arrows. Are you a Linoone?

And with another, smaller splash, Sapphire's back up, taking a deep breath and flopping onto her back. Ahhh this is great - oh, hey, hi there!]

The water's fine, fella! Ya should come in!

[He gives a nervous smile at the giant bird. He can't understand her... awkward. But he focuses on the girl on the water instead after giving a mild wave back at the Pokemon.]

Sure. Watch out!

[Aang leaps into the air, using some Airbending to boost himself higher, then he cannonballs down into the water with his own splash.]

[SPLASHED. Man this beach is full of weird-powers-people today, isn't it? Sapphire yelps and laughs, backing up quickly.]

There's no backin' down from a challenge-!!

[And crouching low and rushing forward, arms sweeping up. I WILL MAKE A SPLASH TO MATCH YOURS]

[Aang looks on in wonder. This is a really active girl!]

[To her credit, she backs off immediately once he says that.]

-Aww. If ya're sure.

[She tips forward, crocodile-floating leisurely in the water with her head and wingtips sticking.]

Sorry. What's yer name?

[Aang smiles as he quietly paddles in place.]

You don't have to apologize. I'm Aang! What's your name?

Sapphire! An' - [She turns a little and nod-gestures at the Blaziken (who is now sitting cross-legged and dozing on the shore) -] Toro. We came along with Senior Gold.

[He remembers Gold's name - that was the Pokemon trainer who talked about his mom and used electricity on Silver. He looked back towards Toro with a smile, starting to realize that she isn't just some tall turkey-person.]

Oh, nice to meet you Sapphire. Is Toro a Pokemon?

Oh, I get it! I was kind of confused because of all the different kinds of creatures here, and I don't know many Pokemon yet!

Haah. Well, I didn't know there were things besides Pokemon out there, so I guess we're even!

[He gives a small laugh.]

Yeah, this place is definitely full of surprises. Have you ever heard about bending?

[Pointing at Toph's sandcastles up on the beach.]

CHRONOLOGY EXISTS?!

[He looks towards them with a smile.]

So you met Toph, at least. Yeah, I guess bending is like the big thing of our world, since no one else seems to have it. And I'm the Avatar, so I'm the only one who can bend all four elements. Well there's another Avatar here, [and a third on the way] so that kinda makes me less special.

[She doesn't really have a scale of significance here; all humans with powers (beyond telepathy and simple telekinesis) are NEW AND STRANGE AND AMAZING to her, and with Pokemon being as they are, she doesn't get why something like that would be important.

So let's just go with the obvious. What are you talking about how do you get down to four from seventeen how does that work]

Oh yeah, I forgot that your world counts a lot more. We have just the basics: fire, earth, water and air.

[...Okay, hold on, she needs to think about this. Rock, Ground, and Steel could all go under "earth" together...Ice could be counted as "water", though that's a bit of a stretch...]

Where do plants go? An' psychics?

Plants are... just plants. They are supported by water and earth. [The lack of woodbending does bother him whenever he thinks about it.] And... we just don't have psychics, unless you count fortune tellers.

Dragons do! They can Firebend. They're actually known as the original Firebenders. And there are two other animals that can bend, too.
