Beach Volleyball Tournament

What: Volleyball Tournament
When: July 22nd, 11am onward!
Where: The Beach!
Summary: Fun in the sun and a bit of competitive spirit! If you signed up for the volleyball tournament, be prepared to rock the house down against the opposing teams! Just there to watch? Enjoy the seats around the volleyball courts as a spectator and have a refreshing drink or some beach-side snacks! SWIMSUIT REQUIRED for everyone there. If you're found by someone in charge without one you may or may not be subject to getting mysteriously kidnapped and put in one, human or not. That's right, even chihuahuas if there are any have to at least have a cool straw hat and sunglasses.
Rating: PG-13. Please try to keep it PG-13 max and warn in the subject header for anything iffy!
When you first arrive, there will be a huge board with the brackets for the tournament on it:



{{ ooc: All of the brackets were totally randomized using RNG on random.org. Unfortunately, I don't have all of the muns memorized so if I put your character against another one of your character, PLEASE let me now ASAP and we can get that fixed! If there are no replies to a match within one week, that team will be disqualified as having not showed up, just so that we can keep going. After the first week, it will be 3 days. (The first week is to account for Otakon, since I know a lot of people are going to that.) }}

After you pass the sign, there are multiple volleyball courts set up, ref towers, lots of beach umbrellas and towels set out on the sand for viewers, and waiters and waitresses handing out drinks to anyone who comes by, courtesy of the local bars. Alcohol will only be available to those who are 18+. It's hot, too, so make sure you don't forget sunscreen!

[Gold was making sure to get all his stretches in, wanting to be sure he was good and limber for these matches. He's taking the rear, so he has to be ready to move.]

[Norrington is nervous of failure, but surely he is over-thinking it. Victory is to be attained by one simple technique - volley the ball. Whenever it comes to this side, make sure it returns to the opposite side. He has a certain skill for sending volleys of balls on a pre-determined course. He would have to take comfort in that. So.]

[When he first heard the message, Beast never would have thought that he would end up actually becoming a part of this... game, right? It's a bunch of matches, but it's a bunch of matches for a game, so he'll guess that makes it still one. Mac has already explained to him what happens in the game, but he still finds himself a little unsure, staring at the net with a nervous look.]

Uh... Mac... are you sure this won't be hard?

[After lifting the bottom of his tank to dry the sweat from his forehead, the Bronxite glances up at his partner in crime who easily towers above him, offering him a reassuring grin. Man, how can a big, powerful guy like you be anxious? Shouldn't it be the other way around?]

How hard can it be? You's a real strong guy - gettin' that ball over the net's gonna be a piece a' cake!

[Have a pat on the shoulder full of camaraderie! Mac has snugly albeit comfortably wrapped his hands in a fashion identical to the way he'd gear up for boxing, for protective purposes.]

YOTSUBA-YURI v. PERONA-VENTUS

[ Yuri was definitely the first person here, this being her tournament-baby after all... Plus she'd had to set up and order everyone around while setting up, so it was only natural that she'd been there long before the actual tournament had started. And now it was her and Yotsuba's turn.

Yuri was stretching while she waited for Yotsuba and their opponents to get there, wearing a bikini with her hair, for once, tied back. Her headband was still on, though, but when going up against people who weren't pushovers (read: people she could make bleed by playing this a little violently on cement without feeling bad about it) in volleyball like the original members of the SSS back in the afterlife. Plus it was a lot hotter here than it was there, it was nice to have her hair up. ]

[Perona's never been one for overly sunny weather and...stuff of that sort, preferring the dark, damp, and dismal over the former, but a competition was something completely different. Plus, she knows this sport! It's easy, and it should be fun. And, to be frank, she's bored and misses the ocean air.

She doesn't know her partner, or even the people she'll be playing against, but Perona doesn't give them more than a second glance. A child? She's going to be playing against a child? Puh, she may not even have to cheat with her Negative Hollows at this rate. Not in this round, at least. She'll just float listlessly a foot or two off the sand, kicking her feet and waiting for the game to start.]

AZUSA-RAINBOW DASH v. NAGISA-RAPUNZEL

[Just as promised, Azusa is there. It's a good thing it was right on the beach, because otherwise she might have gotten lost. She's dressed to play, not that it'll have any effect on her opponents. Also? She's completely unphased that her partner is a pony.

[This is going to be the shortest match in the long and distinguished history of Luceti beach volleyball. Presumably, someone explained the rules of the game to Grune, but retaining information isn't exactly her forte.

Neither is staying in one spot. If something catches her eye--a friend off in the distance, a pretty seashell, sunlight sparkling on the ocean--well, that'll be an easy point for the other team.
