EVENT LOG: SCAVENGER HUNT

Who: All you scavenger hunters!
What: Scavenging and other fantabulousness, I suppose.
When: November 24th to 28th
Where: The whole village! And yet also all over time and space...

As announced by CJ, the village's immediate environs are divided up according to this map. There are five areas: the Nile, Ice Age, Space Opera, Shogunate, and Gangland. Time-and-place appropriate architecture and conjured up NPCs exist in each area.

Don't forget the scavenger hunt! While actually finding things is ultimatly optional, you can find more information on the hunt here. If you want to claim a reward from the hunt, be sure to link at least two related threads on the new rewards claims post.

Finally, here's a quick rundown of the objects:
- In THE NILE: A ceremonial dagger and a piece of Pharoah's treasure
- In GANGLAND: A tommy gun and a set of car keys
- In ICE AGE: A bone spear and a smilodon's tooth
- In SPACE OPERA: a raygun and part of a robot
- In SHOGUNATE: a samurai sword and water from a kappa's head

All days; Shogunate is a good place to start but can go elsewhere

[This is Zelgius's first ever experiment. Even though he was fortunate enough to have received an advance warning from CJ's message (that's certainly not a luxury many New Feathers get!), he's still plenty perplexed and lost when he sees that the area outside Community House 5 has transformed into the Shogunate. For the time being, he'll be sitting outside the Community House, waiting to see if people want to make any use of his fighting prowess for the scavenger hunt. Later, however, he might be found elsewhere, checking for any potential battles to be fought.]

Day 1

[Sheena took herself right the heck out of that ice age the first chance she got. Now she wanders through the Shogunate a little, wearing a distant half-smile with a wistful look in her eyes. It's almost kind of like home. But not really.

And whoa that community building looks intense. After a while of staring at it she realizes there's someone sitting there who probably thinks she's crazy.]

Uh, hey. ...Sorry for staring?

Hm?

[Zelgius hadn't quite noticed Sheena's staring, actually. He was too busy looking at some aspects of the changed land himself.]

You were looking at this building, weren't you? Overnight, it suddenly changed into this... Do these sorts of things always happen in this place?

[corrinesbell]

Well, if you want me to be honest, this is actually pretty...quiet. We're not supposed to get into a lotta trouble or anything, nobody's out to kill each other or thinking they're really a fish or other crazy stuff like that.

It's kinda nice. And I guess regular.

[covermyback]

...What? What does that mean? This place drives people to kill each other? Please, explain what happens at other times.

[corrinesbell]

Uh, no, I meant when we're on drafts and stuff. That's...y'know, it's a war, out there. Whether we like it or not. In here, most experiments don't really end up with people getting hurt.

[covermyback]

There is a war going on...? [Sounds like a place where Zelgius could make himself useful.] I apologize for all these questions. I am new here, and so most of what has been going on in this place is a mystery to me.

[corrinesbell]

Oh. ...Wow, sorry, I probably sound pretty crazy, talking about all this stuff you haven't heard about yet. [Sheena shakes her head, looking sheepish.] It doesn't really have much to do with what's going on right now, at least, but yeah, sometimes the Malnosso...draft us to fight for them.

I've come to accept that I've been saved from death by being sent to another world. "Crazy" isn't exactly my first thought about odd things anymore. Who are we fighting, and why?

[corrinesbell]

Before I really get into this explanation, did anybody show you the guide we have about living here? Some of this stuff is easier to follow if you read it.

[covermyback]

Yes. Several people have shown me the guide, though I have yet to fully memorize its contents. I think I'll remember enough to know what you're talking about, however.

[corrinesbell]

Whoa, I didn't think you'd have it memorized. No big deal. We get drafted to fight against these guys called the Third Party.

[covermyback]

The Third Party... I think I remember reading about them in the guide. What exactly have they done that warrants war against them?

[corrinesbell]

That's where some of the problem is. The Malnosso tell us that the Third Party's gonna kill us in ways that mean we wouldn't come back again. That they think dying's better than living this way.

I don't agree with that idea, but I don't necessarily agree with believing everything our captors tell us to either.

[covermyback]

So we do truly come back from death here... it shouldn't sound strange to me, given that I have already been saved from death just by being brought here, but it does.

I can see going against them for the sake of those that like it here and don't wish to die. It seems a reasonable enough cause to me. I'm still not entirely sure what to think about everything else, though.
