Miracle on Luceti Street.

Who: Everybody! (Mostly.)
What: IT'S CHRISTMAS OR SOMETHING.
When: The 19th through the 25th. Feel free to backdate and forwarddate and everydate as you please.
Where: All over the village!
Summary: It's a wintertime jamboree. Go ice skating. Hand out gifts to those you love. (Or want to prank, as the case may be.) Deal with meddling, creepy elves. Kiss a lot of people. It'll be good. Except for the parts where it'll be awkward. But that's what we're here for, isn't it?
Rating: Anywhere from PG to R, I imagine. If you need to play out sexytimes, please either fade to black and take it elsewhere or CLEARLY mark the thread in the subject line. (The former is preferable, but not strictly necessary.)

[It is late for Aang to be out. But he thought he should stop by the Memory Garden. He remembers when Ikki left temporarily and the pain he felt. As well as what he felt from Tenzin and Jinora's own departures... to an extent Lin, Korra and Zuko as well. He had set up a spot with lovely flowers for Ikki when she disappeared, and he later added more for all of the rest of them.

He felt bad that Ikki couldn't be with her "real" family on this special day. And that he couldn't be with the whole family either. So he goes to the garden to pay their respects and prays that things are going well for them all at home. He's so focused on his prayer that he does not notice until afterwards that someone else is talking nearby, catching a few words here and there. He doesn't want to look like an eavesdropper, but - whoops kinda staring.]

[Either Norma hadn't noticed Aang, or she really, really didn't care about his presence, much too caught up in her reminiscing and talking to her little, unmarked memorial that she just goes on. She laughs hard, though anyone listening in will easily hear how easily it cracks.]

Check it out, seriously! He got me this [She swings over her bag, which hosts the Whitebeard insignia right on the front.] and a heap of other stuff that's got this same mark on it! Its his old man! Whitebeard, I think it was? Yeah! And apparently he's, like, this super duper awesome pirate...but get this! He's not into treasure and gald and riches and all that! [She laughs, hard, but it's short and forced.] Just family. ...And now I'm a part of it, I guess.

Crazy, huh? Can't say being a pirate was something I thought I'd be doing back home, Master, but...it's not so bad, y'know? Family... I thought that was just Red's thing...

[A lot of it sounds familiar - that Marco guy had talked about a Whitebeard before and pirates. He leans forward a bit, just intending to listen a little more. And when he hears that comment about "family", it kind of strikes him. And causes him to trip over.]

[The resounding thump is enough to get Norma's attention, and she let's out a rather un-Norma squeak, jumping up at least half a foot from where she was sitting.]

[WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WH--

...Oh. It's just a kid. Norma blinks as she lays her sights on him, then her eyebrows come together in irritation, a very deep scowl forming on her face in record time. Was...was this kid spying on her?! Way to be rude!]

Graceful, Cueball, but I only give it a six.

[He scrambles to his feet and waves his hands around frantically.]

Sorry! I didn't mean to listen or interrupt! I was just - I was honoring - and I heard some familiar words! I'm sorry!

[Wow, that's a pretty impressive mad chicken impression he's doing there. Norma raises a brow, still slightly scowling, but she takes a minute to try and understand just what this kid's babbling about through his energetic floundering.]

Honoring? ...Huh. Yeah, fine, I guess I buy it, but jeez! Try not to scare me so bad next time! It's not like I get to...do this a every day and stuff, y'know. [A pause, as she glances back at Aang.] Who were you talking to? ...Honoring. Whatever.

[He shrinks down a bit with an apologetic nod.]

To... to all my friends who went back home. And my own granddaughter and my son from the future. I prayed for everyone who's still here, like my other granddaughter who only went home for a little while.

[Oh. ...OH. Oh, jeez. It's Norma turn to hunch up her shoulders and duck her head a little. That definitely sounds painful - losing someone who's that close to you. She grown rather attached to a few people, and if they leave Luceti...well, she's kind of hoping they won't. Ever.]

Oh...uh. W-Well, they're gonna be okay back where they're going to, right? I-I mean, it's not so bad if there's a good place and time to return to, y'know? Still hurts a heck of a lot, yeah, but...not so much, I guess. [She doesn't sound entirely convinced of this fact herself.]

Y-yeah. I don't know everything about their future, but I know in the time that they came from... They're okay. They're healthy and happy and made it through the crisis. And... and in some way, I'm watching over them. So that thought helps me a little.

Then...I guess you've got nothing real bad to worry about, right? [She offers a smile, though anyone who know Norma well enough would be able to tell she's faking it. She's jealous, a little bit, that the people this kid "lost" are all still safe and whole. He's lucky, she's not.] ...But I guess that last thing you said's kinda the same for all of us, huh? I mean, all of us who're here to honor someone.

I can never be rid of that goofball, no matter how hard I try!

[He gives a kind smile.]

What kinda goofball are you talking about?

[Aaah...Norma's not sure she wants to get into this conversation. She gives a rather awkward smile of her own for a second, rubbing her neck, then just diving headfirst into the deep. Might as well.]

The biggest goofball you'll ever see. My old master - taught me pretty much everything I know about what I know.

Are you sure? I've met lots of big goofballs! [He laughs.] I had some goofy teachers myself at home. One of them isn't around anymore. [At least Bumi's still alive, but it feels like so long since he's seen him. And as he long as he's stuck here, it's not something that can happen.] But I'm glad you know you can still talk to them.

Yeah...he's not exactly around anymore either. [Norma's eyes cast back down to the little bushel of white flowers, and for a second or two the walls she put up come crashing down, before they rebuild themselves and she smiles again.] He actually did a lot for me, and I never woulda turned out to be the way I am now if I didn't meet and listen to him! I mean, the least I can do is talk to him sometimes, y'know?

Oh, and he also got me this [She indicates the puffy pompom hair accessory she always wears.] too! Back when I was a whole lot smaller.

I know! That's always good. Because the people who're gone - they're never really gone. Since they put their love in your heart, that means they'll always be there! That's because love is a form of energy and it can't be destroyed.

[He points at the pompom with a smile.] He did? Wow, that looks really nice!

So much that Norma actually snorts and begins to laugh quietly to herself, but the smile on her face after is large and honest. As cheesy as that was, it really is the truth, isn't it? That idiot...he definitely left his mark. Norma'd definitely not be the way she is if it weren't for Sven.]

Thanks, Cueball. I actually hated the thing when he first gave it to me - it was way too babyish, I thought. Now, it's kinda like...his keepsake, y'know?

Yeah... I think I do. I know how important keepsakes can be. [He remembers how dejected Katara was when she lost her mother's necklace - and that joy when she got it back.] And I guess I have one now, too.

Really? What's that?

[Honestly, she's curious. This kid seems to get it - or at least he seems to have shared the same kind of experience as she did. Not quite to the extent and sadness that Norma felt, and still feels, but it's close enough.]

This. [There's an odd smile as he withdraws from a fold of his robes a flute.] I just got it for Christmas! I recognized it immediately. This was his flute.

[A blink and a cant of a head is what follows the introduction of the smallish instrument, and Norma's about to open her mouth to say something, but stops herself. His flute? Who is "he", she wonders?]

His?

Y-yeah.... Someone I lost. The man who raised me. His name was Monk Gyatso. I'm sure this was his flute! It's got to be.

[Someone I lost. Jeez, and this guy's just a kid, too, poor thing. Hah...haha, ugh. This has got to be some kind of cruel twist of fate or something.]

Then, there you have it! If you think it's his, then it's his, right? No point is getting all negative thinking too hard about it. [She pauses, giving the flute a short look.] But you better keep that thing under lock and key, if it's his. Treasures like that gotta be kept super duper safe.

[He nods gleefully, too.]

You're right... superty duperty safe! I've seen how bad it is for others to lose stuff like that. [The time Katara lost her necklace... and here in Luceti, there was the time Shikamaru lost his lighter.] But... I wanna make sure it's near, too. Whenever I might need it.

[To lose something valuable like that...yeah, she kind of understands. Useless trinkets to other people, but worth more than anything in the world to others. Norma has those kinds of things. Quite a few, actually.]

I get that. Something you can't afford to lose, right? I've got a couple of those. [The Everlight fragment, her notebook with Sven's Relares notes and transcriptions inside, and her hairband. And now, she's gotten more of them, in Luceti.] They just...kinda keep piling up, too. I'm gonna end up being a total packrat pretty soon!
