This post covers the first day, before the attack. Remember, characters here are not expecting an attack and are under the impression they will be going to Region 1 to fight. During this day, draftees will be restricted to T6 and T7 and not permitted access to other areas.

Did they just pick names at random or something...? [Because a certain someone isn't exactly hardened-fighter material. Sure, he could handle a gun with relative ease, but it held much less weight when he knew any injuries he inflicted would heal quickly.

This? No. Not okay, Malnosso. Disdain aside, they would be going out to battle, and it's better to inform himself rather than wallow in complaints. For the most part, he quietly heads to the designated area.

This is a valiant effort, until he starts feeling the effects of altitude sickness. Shortness of breath, then wheezing, then a headache and unquenchable thirst. Otonashi says nothing, but he looks like a bit disoriented. Later in the day, he will be mostly down in the barracks or confined to his room, chugging water—not coffee—like his life depended on it. That, or going to fetch more. Better safe than sorry.]

What's the matter, scared?

[Noda's actually feeling okay with being sent out for some possible fight. So he walks up to Otonashi, halberd pole resting on his shoulder like usual.]

Yeah, actually... Don't talk like this is completely normal!

[Seriously, a draft and high, unreasonable elevations. OF COURSE HE'S SCARED. He hugs himself slightly.]

[RELAX OTONASHI, They're not going to get blown off from...whatever they're standing on!.]

Hmph! The fact that we're in this strange world isn't normal! That's why you're a wuss!

[Noda's ability to make a point: Null.]

Strange world doesn't mean "go fight in a war! An ACTUAL war!" I start to think that maybe you'll stop, or that you can't be any more of a jerk [OR AN IDIOT, but he leaves that out!] and this is what you do...

[He didn't want some of his wildest imaginations about war to become REALITY. Otonashi steps away from Noda, still hugging himself. Will there be giant monsters? A horrible moving military base, armed to the core that they have to infiltrate?! So many horrible possibilities...]

[If only Noda was able to peer into your vast imagination. If only. Instead he gives a look at Otonashi.]

And weren't we at war against Angel for the longest time? We fight anyone that attempts to kill us. What's the difference?

She was one person... [How Noda can even equate the two is honestly beyond him. A group battling an incredibly socially awkward girl is not the same as this. Otonashi stumbles, rather tired of this little unwanted journey. Too high—are they going to have to parachute somewhere this time? Really, truly?!]

Besides, shooting at people in the afterlife was hard enough..!

One person? She had the powers of an army! She was even capable of creating one if she wanted to.

[Which almost happened at one point but Noda's not even bothering to try explaining that to Otonashi. Who knows, maybe he'd end up forgetting it again!]

[Okay. Well played, Noda. Even an idiot deserves a moment to shine.]

Y-yeah, she was... powerful, but... it's still not the same. We can die here and there's a price. And we're fighting for the Malnosso! [The enemy, Noda, the enemy!!]

[And then Noda clams up for a moment, taking some time for his thick head to process this...]

[Yeah. Apparently he didn't realize they were fighting for the enemy.]

You didn't... know? [Otonashi is giving you a look, Noda.]

I know you're not much for, um... reading comprehension... but— it was a Malnosso post..! How could you miss that? [Idiot.]

[Hey, Noda rarely reads things!]

Dis... distracted. [Look at how convinced he is!]

You went to war without even wondering why? Or knowing what side you were on?! We could die!

And it actually means something to die now... [He's bracing himself for whatever Noda has to say. Noda's head isn't exactly complicated, so Otonashi imagines it'll probably be one of 4 things:
1. "wuss"
2. "are you some kind of ultra wuss?" and then the shadows will cast on him just right and he'll look terrifying
3. "oh, wanna die right now?!" and then he'll do it because he has no shame and isn't good with anything smart people
4. "I'm distracted" and then Noda would walk away.]

You wanna try dying right now then? [And see if it's really true at that!]

[For a second, he's still imagining the situations play out. It takes him another minute to realize that Noda had actually spoken, and that no, it wasn't just him imagining it anymore.]

W-what, do you expect me to say yes? N-no! Don't even talk like that right now...

[Look at Noda getting ready to slice your head off as he picks his halberd up... Oh, right, death counts as something in this world...]

But we will be revived regardless, will we not?

[He's itching to fling his halberd around now. That blade is still pointing towards Otonashi's direction.]
