Bil

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-27 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
To Luceti, this man was known as Sir Catherine. To the Kin'corans, he'd come to be known as Mister Sally. The Vaskothans knew his real name, but most still fondly called him Old Gloria and that one always made him smile a bit. Some of the draftees were from enclosures he had not personally spoken to and he was terribly uninterested in any of them. They were, to be frank, a very boring lot. But he was willing to meet all today, as he had wrapped up business as the Central Urban Center, a wonderful place to visit, in spite of the very unfortunate name.

Though young in body now, he still carried a cane with him, though he swirled it about as he walked and rested it along his forearm whenever he came to a stop. Blue and smiling, Bil always stood out among a crowd. Possibly by being a bit more cheery that he had any right to be. He tutted as one angry Kin'coran was restrained by the MSF when he came at the blue man with a sword. Truthfully, it terrified him, but Bil was always good about putting on a jovial face when dealing with people who hated his guts. This was fortunate, because everyone in the world hated him. He'd be absolutely useless if people went around liking him.

He placed himself around the barracks reserved for Luceti, idly considering intruding upon them and offering them all a hearty cheer up. A devilish part of him thought about popping into the showers to greet them. But ultimately reason won out over everything else and he made his way to the mess hall. Rather than seek anyone out, he and his personal guard of soldiers and droids went to go pick up some lunch. The mess hall hardly dealt out the tastiest of meals, but just like unpleasant people, he was good at pretending to like unpleasant food as well.

Of course, he wasn't here for the food. He was hoping to have people notice him, probably get excited, and hopefully avoid killing him.

[Kurt can be found around the area throughout the day, checking out the various areas. He left the image inducer at home and has his X-Men uniform on. After all, it mattered little what others thought of his appearance when he was going to war.

Kurt does have some fun practicing his teleporting around throughout the day - outside of the power cap of Luceti, he just feels so much freer now. Hope he doesn't interrupt something while being so enthusiastic.

He spends some time pigging out at the mess hall. He's quick to greet others with a friendly smile; but if one spots him before he notices them, they may catch him in a moment of worry or pensiveness. And he spends all too long in the shower, just thinking. But his boldness does have bounds; he still wears his boxer shorts in the public shower, after all.]

The blue guy looked familiar - Kurt had seen him on the journals once. And in person, he did look friendly for a Malnosso. So what the heck? Kurt sidled in across the table and gave a conspiratorial smile.

"You're looking mighty blue, my friend."

Loki found being around someone that shade of blue discomfiting in ways he didn't want to consider. But he had questions, which really had nothing to do with the draft. Drafts were straightforward enough; survival and dealing with the punches as they came. He didn't particularly want to be in the thick of things this time anyway.

But from what little he could remember of the week when he was most recently in the care of the Malnosso, he had far more questions than answers. So he approaches Bil and gives him a polite nod. "Am I correct in thinking I may owe your people some measure of gratitude for recent events?"

[When Rachel first arrives, she looks like death warmed over. She'll try to tough it out, but eventually she'll give up and limp her sorry butt to wherever the doctors and healers are setting up shop. She'll be sleeping for the majority of the evening, but feel free to run into her before then, either when she arrives, with the healers, or at the barracks.]

[TERRACE... wasn't what she'd been expecting.

Maybe, considering all the strange tech and the abilities the Malnosso seemed to have, a flying city shouldn't be all that impressive. Except it sort of is and Natasha's admittedly fascinated upon arrival. It's much larger than the helicarrier and some of the structures she can see look ancient, a strange mixture of new and old. They've got some downtime, since deployment isn't until the following morning - the waste of an entire day, she's not really sure if that's good or bad - so she takes a little time exploring the sector they've been assigned to, familiarizing herself with her surroundings, even though they won't be staying long. Part of it's habit, part if it's restless boredom.

...Part of it's the fact that she'd rather avoid being squeezed into the crowded barracks as long as she possibly can.

Eventually, though, she does wander back in around the rest of the Draftees, grabbing some food, double-checking the supplies she'd packed for the mission, catching a shower. She's not really bothered by the openness, although she does her best to stay discreet, knowing others might be more than uncomfortable here. Still, she's looking at an unknown period of time in the woods. She's not missing her last chance at the modern comfort of hot running water in who knows how long.]

Bil chucked as he observed a fellow blue fellow. This one, of course, was probably born this way. Quite different, but still it made Bil feel at ease.

"You look a bit blue yourself, my boy."

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-27 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
To say Bil didn't recognize Loki would be a lie. He, among certain others, had attracted some attention of late. This would be rather tricky.

He smiled. "Ah, Loki. The big one, naturally. The little one is not yet full grown. Yes, yes, you have me to thank!"
complicatedliar: (the eyebrow is raised)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-03-27 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Loki watched the man's lips carefully, able to catch all of the words. It wasn't a statement he would ever trust at face value, but it did confirm some conclusions he'd already drawn on his own. "Naturally?" he asked, eyebrow raised. "I would have thought you were far more used to hearing from my younger self. He's quite inquisitive."

Well, Loki himself was just as inquisitive. He was also just better at being patient about it.

"You personally? I'm afraid I don't remember much at all."
biliruben: (Oh dear)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-27 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, not personally. Heavens, I haven't the time for that. But I did, of course, send droids to fetch you." Bil paused, thoughtful, and looked around at his own entourage. He then pointed at a droid that had the number 3 proudly emblazoned on its chest. "Yes, I do believe this is among the droids I sent! I do hope he wasn't too rough with you, but goodness, there was no time to be gentle."
complicatedliar: (head tilt)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-03-28 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
"A very swift reaction," Loki commented. His tone became very dry. "Gentle as a lamb, I'm sure. I don't really recall. But there must have been something terribly wrong, for such hurry to be necessary. What was the matter with me?"

She didn't have anything important to say, in particular, so she wasn't sure she should even bother taking up any of his time. She remembered when the blue man had told them he was going to die, and she had felt so sorry that she wasn't able to help stop it. Even if he was a Malnosso. Rapunzel couldn't be positive this was the same man - after all, he looked much younger now. But she was reasonably certain, and anyway - with that entourage, he was clearly important. So she tiptoed over to him with her tightly-braided hair bouncing behind her, sat down at the table, and hoped he could answer her question.

"Um...excuse me?"

[The first day is spent busily, as Raine uses the time to organize small first aid and survival pouches - which include fast healing items, potions and gels with information on what they are - as well as bandages, disinfectant and any other items that might have been deemed necessary for survival that could fit into the small packs, like small radios and so forth.

She accepts help in organizing them as well as for making sure they're all handed out to Luceti's various draftees later on. If there are extras, she will end up organizing a few for the other enclosure-draftees hanging around, but she wants to make sure Luceti's group at least is covered.

After that, it's time to take a better look around and absorb information, find out what her drafted friends and students will be up to, and probably snag a meal if she remembers to. Though it might be better if someone reminds her, given her tendency to be distracted by the prospect of work and more organizing... in any case, her general mood seems to be calm as always, at least on the surface.]

Well, well, well. The politics are shifting. Albert and him had wondered. It was right to think of him.

Admittedly he's been discretely observing a while at a distance. Working at the same time, eyes nowhere but where they should be, going no where but where asked and ordered, he's none the less is discretely monitoring the man's interactions as his attentions are engaged by draftees, MSF officers, and other individuals. If nothing else, Law's an expert multitasker.

There's a bad incident with a Kin'coran (The MSF quartermaster had tensed before turning back to business when his comrades pounced the man). Various Lucetians take their turn. Law stays on task.

Finally the pirate parks himself on a crate with coffee and a clipboard. He's noticeable but slightly out of the way of Bil's party. There's a busty blonde woman talking with him. Vaskothan. As Bil nears, the woman pauses mid speech, glances over her shoulder at one of the MSF officers accompanying Bil, pauses and then began to excuse herself.

Law, for his part, simply nods and thanks her with a small smile. And sits patient as the party comes even closer, either to be approached or passed by.

"You took the brunt of a Natural Shift. It's a wonder you're as well off as you are." He paused, stroking his chin. "Lip reading, is it?"

Bil looked up. And then he fell out of his chair. Literally.

The soldiers around him immediately raised their weapons, but he scrambled to his feet and called them off.

"My... my goodness, it's even more amazing than I imagined it to be!"

[Bil raises a glass.]

Good day, my boy! Mr. Spock, are you not? Ah, or perhaps you prefer S'chn T'gai? [Amazingly he doesn't mangle it.] I'm afraid I don't have much experience with Vulcans. So very few ever arrive in this world.
biliruben: (How unfortunate)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-28 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Goodness gracious, man. Do you intend to say nothing?" Bil stopped just as the Vakothan woman walked away, though his eyes lingered after her. That hair. Mesmerizing! He turned his attention back to the pirate. "Honestly, Doctor Law, I thought we were past the point of you being too shy to speak with me."

"Ah. Natural shifts. Obviously not something we commonly encounter, thanks to the barrier, yes?" There was precious little he'd heard, just a few sentences in the guide Pepper had provided to him upon his arrival. But if it was a natural shift...

Interesting indeed.

"Yes, I'm afraid I haven't recovered my hearing. Though I feel quite well otherwise. Thanks to you, it would seem."

[Just hours ago, he was home.

Not home home, but the Land of Lightning is a lot closer to it than Luceti, as it goes. One second there was the adrenaline rush of combat, and the next he was coming to in a tunnel. Now he's up in the sky of all places?

Even with the Luceti memories trickling back in and overlapping the ones from home, it's disorienting as fuck.

He'll eventually piece together that he wasn't gone for longer than fifteen or twenty minutes. Luckily he woke up with his clothes beside him, albeit looking like they've seen better days, and had the presence of mind to take them with in the transport. He's not in the New Feather pants for long, at least not after a shower (and no he does not care who sees, thank you very much).

Once he has his head on as straight as he's going to get it, he makes himself busy. At some point he reasons he'll need one of those Shift Affliction shots, and there's the matter of his weapons. Stops to the mess hall and the bunk room happen, searching out familiar faces and just as importantly: making sense of what's going on.]

[For all that Derek had been missing from Luceti for several months, only to return without any memory of the place, people would be hard pressed to realize that if they watched him now. As with any draft he's ever been on, he gets in, chooses his bunk, gets his things ready to go and then starts prowling the area. He watches other people get ready (or not), listens in on bits and pieces of conversations, inspects what areas he can. And eventually makes his way to people he knows, to check up on them, before he settles on his cot to start the process of inspecting and cleaning his weaponry.

He's open to any approach, giving a nod and friendly, if distracted smile.]

[ Who has two thumbs, no voice, and is not thrilled to see the blue man? This guy.

Though, the more he thought about it, this wasn’t such a bad opportunity that had presented itself. He figured of anyone he could ask, save maybe John, Bil would have the best answer for what had happened that day with the portal. Tony wasn’t particularly looking forward to bringing it up with the leader of the organization he was trying to outsmart, but he knew the Malnosso already knew about it - why else would they have sent the droids for Loki?

The bottom line was: he wanted answers. And this once, he would swallow his damaged pride to get them.

Tony sits across from the blue man, a pen and paper to serve as his voice. However, he doesn’t write anything down yet. He’d bet a million non-existent Luceti dollars that Bil would know why he was here without it. ]
