"A very swift reaction," Loki commented. His tone became very dry. "Gentle as a lamb, I'm sure. I don't really recall. But there must have been something terribly wrong, for such hurry to be necessary. What was the matter with me?"
biliruben: (Charm)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-28 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
"You took the brunt of a Natural Shift. It's a wonder you're as well off as you are." He paused, stroking his chin. "Lip reading, is it?"
complicatedliar: (all according to plan)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-03-28 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah. Natural shifts. Obviously not something we commonly encounter, thanks to the barrier, yes?" There was precious little he'd heard, just a few sentences in the guide Pepper had provided to him upon his arrival. But if it was a natural shift...

Interesting indeed.

"Yes, I'm afraid I haven't recovered my hearing. Though I feel quite well otherwise. Thanks to you, it would seem."
biliruben: (Success)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-28 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Indeed. In the nick of time. But goodness, can't you act a bit surprised? I'd expected a bit more shock. Jaw dropping. That sort of thing."
complicatedliar: (smiling bastard)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-03-28 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Loki grinned. "Oh dear. I think the natural shift has removed my ability to feel surprise as well. Could you perhaps fix that?"
biliruben: (Businessman)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-28 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
It was impossible to tell if Bil got the joke or not, as his response was rather grim. "I'm afraid not. It was decided that the results of your Shift would remain in tact until such a time as it was decided it be removed."
complicatedliar: (head tilt)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-03-28 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Loki sighed. "Well, hopefully no one's planning any unexpected parties for me. They would be most disappointed." He tilted his head. "So the removal shall be entirely up to you?"
biliruben: (Goodness!)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-28 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
"No, not me. I'm hardly involved in all that business now."
complicatedliar: (all according to plan)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-03-28 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah well. There goes my plan to smother you with flattery, then," he sighed. "Might I entertain hope this will go away on its own?"
biliruben: (Success)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-28 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
"You may entertain the idea that it's reversible at all. I'm still blue, after all."
complicatedliar: (sideways glance)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-03-28 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
"I had wondered. I just thought you must find it a charming color." Oh, he does not like this.
biliruben: (Calling up a draft)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-28 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
"Actions have consequences, Mr. Loki. You and the other chose to toy with something you didn't fully understand under the presumption that you knew enough." Bil's expression grew harsh. "The barrier contained the effects of your little experiment, but it might have been catastrophic had you tried it anywhere else. But do know that it won't happen again. Not for some time. The organization did not think you'd manage to do more than make the machine turn on. You're fortunate that I happened to give you more credit than they do."
complicatedliar: (he's made one for himself)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-03-28 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Loki's expression remained unchanged in the fact of that statement. "I do agree that it would have been far less dangerous, had we had much better data." He tilted his head. "Long is a very relative term when someone like me is involved, yes? If we are not entirely at cross purposes, it seems a shame that we feel the need to keep so much from each other." He shrugged. "I do take it as a compliment that you didn't entirely underestimate us, though."
biliruben: (Businessman)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-28 11:48 am (UTC)(link)
"The organization has many scientists. Eventually, perhaps, you'll be of more use as one of them. But where you are not is more invaluable to us."
complicatedliar: (lost the right to hold that crown)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-03-28 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"I should hope that would be the case, considering I'd wager my intellect against any of theirs," he said dryly. "Really, why is that?"
biliruben: (Businessman)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-28 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"I wouldn't." Bluntly. "But you're still new to this world. The hold that this world has over you does not yet dwarf the hold your own world has on you."
complicatedliar: (the eyebrow is raised)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-03-28 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Still new to this world and still deprived of data," he said dryly. Interesting turn of phrase, that. "And what manner of hold is that?"
biliruben: (My boy!)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-28 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's what keeps you bound to this world. Our experiments are designed to loosen that connection and send you joyfully back to your own world. However, there comes a time when it becomes extremely difficult to leave this world. I've long since past that point."
complicatedliar: (Default)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-03-29 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Joyfully," Loki repeated. "Hah. Interesting. It makes one wonder about the connections in question, since so many experiments seem set on driving people from disparate worlds together."
biliruben: (How unfortunate)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-29 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, those are just like that in the hopes you won't all kill one another."
complicatedliar: (giggley)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-03-29 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"From my observations, it's only made relations more supremely awkward if not combative. There are some terribly cranky little darlings in the enclosure."
biliruben: (Goodness!)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-30 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Perhaps one day you'll get to see Segretar. Your conflicts are nothing like they are there."
complicatedliar: (all according to plan)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-03-30 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
"I should like to see quite a bit more. It would certainly provide perspective, yes?"

Data, really. That was what he wanted. And if having a nice, polite conversation might help, he could certainly do that.
biliruben: (Terribly unfortunate)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-30 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"In the future, perhaps, opportunities abound. For now, you should think about your survival."
complicatedliar: (Default)

[personal profile] complicatedliar 2013-03-31 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"Survival is a reflex." Loki shrugged. "Your concern is, of course, appreciated."
