spohkh: (I need to sit)

[Spock would have been surprised...

...but then again, this individual probably knew all about him.]

You may refer to me as Spock, Mister... Bill?

[Spock sat down across from the other man.]
biliruben: (How unfortunate)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-28 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh no, Bil is such an awful name. I can't bear it when people use it. Please, please, you must call me Catherine. Or perhaps Sir Catherine as some are fond of doing."
spohkh: (You know I'm awesome)

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-03-28 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Sir Catherine.

I find myself curious... are you directly involved with the shifts and experiments?
[Your answer will completely determine the course of their conversation.]
biliruben: (Goodness!)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-28 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Presently? No. I'm afraid other matters draw my attention these days. But I have been. Before your time, naturally, but I've been responsible for several experiments. Has anyone told you of the Teleporting experimenting? That was me. An absolute success that one. Everyone here, there, everywhere! An exciting romp and enormously informative at that. There's interns off in the organization still cranking away at the results from that one.
spohkh: (Serious Face)

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-03-28 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
I see...

What exactly do you do with the results of your analysis?

[You probably knew that Spock was a scientist... But so far he has seen no logical reason for these humiliating experiments.]
biliruben: (Businessman)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-28 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Bil tuts and shakes his head.]

Honestly, Lucetians are a baffling sort. I've said this many times, but you are all so secretive! I'll never understand why people are so insistent on their private conversations! But, let me put it like this. I've a great metaphor for this and I rather like it. But imagine that when you come into this world, you do so through a hole. Well, this hole has a shape, but you land in this world as a lump of clay. You can't go back through that hole as an ugly lump, you'd never fit! But, with a little Shifting, we try and see how we can roll you up, twist you about, and see what shape we can make that might go through that hole. If we're lucky, you're off on your way home withing a month or two! Less lucky, it takes longer.

Of course, clay is a terribly troublesome thing. Too long and it goes hard. You, Mister Spock, are a nice moldable bit of clay. Me, I'm afraid I'm a bit of a solid rock, not very moldable and not likely to be made to fit into that hole very soon.

That is what we do. We find out how to mold and we analyze how to make it work for everyone, from fresh clay to moldy old rocks.
spohkh: (Not Amused)

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-03-28 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Fascinating.

[Contempt drips from that word.]

I find it quite interesting Sir Catherine, that you and the Malnosso do not subject yourselves to these various Shifts. What possible 'hole' requires drastic emotional transformation through humiliation?
biliruben: (Charm)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-28 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Goodness, do reign it in. It's unbecoming of a Vulcan to be so quick to judge! We have all suffered our own share of Shifts. Some that were not so fortunate as to be limited to the scope of a single week. But you have to understand that Shifting is not conventional science. Emotions are very much a key part of everything in this world.
spohkh: (I am superior..)

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-03-28 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
[And you've hit the nail on the head of Spock's frustration.

The whole thing was entirely illogical.]

And your progress?
biliruben: (Charm)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-28 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
How many friends have you seen come and go in your time here?
spohkh: (Let me look into your eyes)

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-03-28 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
I was not aware that their disappearances were due to your efforts.

[Spock's face was unreadable.]
biliruben: (Default)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-28 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
The enclosure's population recently hit an all time low. That, Mr. Spock, is progress.
spohkh: Thoughtful (Shh.... I'm thinking...)

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-03-28 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
You are not sufficiently answering the question. It does not seem that you are fully in control of that progress...
biliruben: (Businessman)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-28 11:50 am (UTC)(link)
If we were fully in control of that progress, then your enclosure would be entirely empty.
spohkh: Bitch Please (Yeah Right.)

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-03-29 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
[Spock sat back in his chair and regarded the blue man.

He realized he needed to calm down.]

I see.

I suppose I must apologize for my questions... There is no way that a single conversation with you would satisfy my curiosity on the matter.

biliruben: (Oh dear)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-29 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Now now, no need to apologize. When I first arrived in this world, I drove everyone insane with questions.
spohkh: Say what? (huh?)

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-03-30 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Would it be possible to see your research facilities? I imagine it would be a most..

...enlightening experience.
biliruben: (Cheers)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-30 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps! Eventually. I rather thought it would be nice to offer a tour some day. I haven't quite hammered out the detail, aha, but it would be quite fun, I think.
spohkh: (Talking)

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-03-31 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
What if I was to inquire about becoming directly involved in the research process?

biliruben: (Businessman)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-03-31 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm afraid the answer would be no.
spohkh: (Ta'al)

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-03-31 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I had assumed as much.

[The Vulcan stood... then nodded to the blue man.]

I am uncertain if I should say that it was well to make your acquaintance... However, I will admit that it was at least enlightening.

[The passive Vulcan lifts his hand in a Ta'al.... but does not say the words.]
biliruben: (How unfortunate)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-04-02 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Ah yes. [Bil lifts his hand to do the same, but has trouble getting it right. He frowns, puts his hand down, and uses his other to adjust his fingers correctly.]

I would enjoy speaking again, but I do hope we won't have to. I'd like to get you home as soon as possible.
spohkh: (Bemused)

[personal profile] spohkh 2013-04-02 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Fascinating...

[This time the Vulcan meant it...]

You make it very difficult to blame you for anything. However, if you ever need assistance in finding another method for this 'molding' you are attempting..

...please inform me.
biliruben: (Charm)

[personal profile] biliruben 2013-04-03 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I will keep it in mind. Good day, Mr. Spock!
