day two and three

[It's battling time? So, taking down airships huh...okay, we got this. Most of his Pokemon have attacks that can hit things from a distance rather than up close and personal, so we can handle this--he'll do his best to contribute by making use of Pansage's Bullet Seed or Crustle's Rock Slide or such for this. Cilan honestly has no intention of actually killing anyone (in fact he's already a little uncomfortable about the idea of having his Pokemon attack people who don't have Pokemon to defend themselves with), but he'll try to keep himself and any people around him safe from harm as much as possible...]

days four, five, six?

[Long-range attacks are what he's good at, earlier being useful when dealing with the airships, but now...well, Cilan kind of had to improvise a little, at least to keep himself alive or from any enemies getting too particularly close to him. At the moment, he's had a couple of enemies tripping over holes whenever Pansage dug to help making some of these cultists a little easier to catch for people working on that (and he will make sure no one on their side goes near any of those holes as best as he can), or using Stunfisk who blasts some enemies back with scalding hot water whenever they get so much as five feet near him...

It's not particularly gentlemanly or graceful but by this point he really can't be bothered to care, he's just going to be relieved once this is over...]

day 3

[Need some help with close combat, Cilan? Pearl's your man -- he's literally made of the stuff.

Well. His Infernape and Luxray are. His fighting gets closer to Cilan's and he'll admit. He's happy to see someone he actually knows out here. It's good to note he is also trying not to kill people; Rayhiko focuses on paralyzing them with Shock Wave, while Chimhiko breaks ribs and other bones with his strong Fighting attacks. There are burns involved too but, well, of course.

Pearl's not sure how to talk and attack at the same time, so he'll just flash Cilan a quick wave as he orders his pokémon around.]

[His Pokemon have strong attacks, but though they can be used in close combat, they are mostly attacks that benefit a little more from having some amount of distance between them and the target rather than being right on top of them. The only exceptions might be Pansage's Dig or Crustle's X-Scissor...in the meantime, however, he's managed to keep some distance as Crustle has kept some enemies back with it's Rock Slide, knocking them out or blocking their path to keep them from getting too close too quickly.

Upon noticing Pearl close by, Cilan holds a hand up in a slight wave back--normally he would adore chatting and getting to know more about those cool Pokemon of yours, but now's not really a good time. However, he does appreciate having another Pokemon trainer around, especially considering that Pearl's Pokemon appear to have some good attacks for up-close fighting to their arsenal. Once there is a slight lull in retaliation from the enemy though, he does turn his attention to the other and speaks up now.]

Have you and your Pokemon been handling yourselves well enough? [Yes, good Cilan, first ask if they're doing okay before making any comments about his Pokemon, as seriously tempting as it is to do so right this second.]

Sort of. [Diamond got hurt, Pearl killed a man or two, spent what small relaxation time he could get pacing and pretending he hadn't. It isn't working, but he's trying to hold off on killing again -- or at least until his scanner runs out.] We're not too badly roughed up.

[Comes with being the speed of the team, tbh.]

About the same, I suppose. [Sigh. Cilan's been worried about his friends and he won't exactly lie and say he would be surprised if some of his Pokemon's attacks might have accidentally killed a few unlucky enemies, but it's not exactly something he'd prefer dwelling on.] It's certainly a more extreme taste in battling than we're used to...

It leaves a bad one in my mouth. [No amount of brushing can get it out -- or that's what it feels like.] This draft business doesn't happen too often, does it?

I don't think so...if I recall correctly, the last one I was aware of happened sometime last year, but I wasn't called upon for it.

[And from what he's heard, that one had people getting infected with a zombie virus so if it's any consolation, this draft they're on now is possibly less worse than the previous one.]

Day 4

[mischiefbreeder]

[You should watch where you dig those holes, Cilan, as Gold almost trips into one. Thankfully, he had Aitaro out, who catches him from falling to his doom.]

Wh-whoa! What the hell?!

[cilantro]

[Damn it Gold, it figures you would nearly fall in one the second we take our eyes off making sure people from our side don't. Cilan opens his mouth to tell you to not swear, but then he changes his mind and lets it go this time, instead offering an apology. (It is technically our fault, after all)]

Sorry--we were using those to trip some of the droids and such attempting to come this way. [His Pansage also puts its paws together in an apology as well, having resurfaced from another hole after tripping and knocking someone out a moment ago.]

You've gotta be more careful where you put those things, dude.

[Aitaro pulls his back to his feet, out of the range of the hole.]

My apologies, I suppose I wasn't giving enough due diligence a moment ago. [but at least you know now...] Please be careful while crossing through here--while it lacks finesse, it has proven to have somewhat of an effective taste thus far...

[How Cilan manages to keep spewing taste comments even now, the world may never know. (Though judging by the less-than vibrant smile, he's lacking a little in the usual "cheer" that he'd usually have when making remarks like that...)]

[Yeah, he's just going to hop back on Togetaro now. HE DOESN'T TRUST THOSE HOLES NOW...]

Uh-huh... You doin' okay there? [Don't think he doesn't notice you're not quite yourself there, Cilan.]

[I am so tempted to make an Amigara Fault joke involving holes right now, but I will spare you of my terrible sense of humor by not doing so.]

Huh? [Ah...] Yes, we're alright. [Physically, for the most part.]

What about you? Are you and your Pokemon okay?

[mischiefbreeder]

We're doin' okay out there. But then again, this is pretty familiar territory for us. [Gold surveys the area quickly, before setting his eyes on Cilan.]

...But I guess the same can't be said for you.

[cilantro]

...No, I don't suppose it's quite the same. [Okay, he can speak a little more honestly.] While it's true that I've fought against some rather unsavory or difficult opponents a few times before in my life, I think fighting in a situation like this is something of an unfamiliar taste for me.

[Or rather, and maybe it's just him, but his experiences with fighting Team Rocket or Tornelos somehow feels like they're on a slightly different level than this--at the end of the day, Team Rocket blasts off or the Pokemon manages to calm down and all is right again. And then when you look back on it later, it's a memory of interest, not a particularly painful one. Here, though...Cilan gets the feeling that looking back on this later would dredge up unpleasant tastes rather than interesting ones.]

...I can't lie to you and say this'll get easier as time goes on... 'cause it won't.

Day 4

[precipitous]

[ Korra is rushing on her way, as she is wont to do - and heading straight for one of those holes. She isn't even looking at the ground, instead focused on a group of cultists up the road.

Does Cilan notice her in time?? ]

[cilantro]

[He almost doesn't, having to split his attention between that as well as enemies that manage to avoid them. But upon noticing her coming towards us in the direction towards a few holes by these cultists over here, he tries to get her attention.]

Ah, Miss, wait--[Throwing a hand out in front of her (he really hopes he's not about to lose an arm doing that); not necessarily forcibly grabbing and stopping her, but trying to keep her from potentially tripping from taking another step forward, to stop if just for another second so that she'll notice the holes in time before the cultists do, who hopefully haven't yet.]

[precipitous]

[ At the sight of his arm coming up to stop her, Korra finally notices the holes. Oh, crud.

She skips to a stop, but can't quite perform it gracefully, landing squarely on her backside, one leg slipping into the nearest hole. ]

Ow...

[cilantro]

[...Well, she did technically stop, but we didn't mean for her to fall down, oops. Offering a hand to help her back up!]

Are you okay?

[precipitous]

[ ...Man that probably looked incredibly dumb. WAY TO GO, KORRA. She sheepishly takes his offered hand and gets back to her feet. ]

Uh...yeah, I'm fine. [ Just her damaged pride. ]

[cilantro]

[Cilan nods at that, before he then offers an apology.]

I'm sorry--I thought Pansage and I were keeping a better eye on making sure people from our side didn't get too close to them. [sigh] I suppose this taste was lacking a little in foresight...

[As for "who the heck is Pansage", it might be that small green monkey that is now poking it's head up from a different hole to see what happened.]

[precipitous]

No, it’s not you, I wasn’t watching where I was -

[ She spots the strange creature poking its head out of the hole Um. ]

What the - ? What is that thing?

[cilantro]

That would be Pansage, one of my Pokemon. [It climbs up out of the hole to scurry over to his side, looking up curiously at Korra as Cilan attempts to give a quick introduction.] Pansage, this is--ah, I'm sorry, I don't think I caught your name yet, Miss?

[precipitous]

Oh - another Pokemon? [ Ikki had one of those things, too. But hers looked very different from this one. ]

Uh...I'm Korra.
