Any Day

[During any given day, an armor-clad, heavily armed woman can be found amongst the MSF troops, having set up a central tent in one of the more fortified areas - starting between T6 and T7, gradually moving outwards to either T5 or T8 depending on the day and wherever she’s needed most - clearly marked so she can be more easily found by her troops and, subsequently, the draftees. There are guards positioned at the front of her tent, mostly to keep people from bothering her while she’s doing important work, but they might be convinced (or bribed) into letting a few people through once in a while, and sometimes they’ll even have been dismissed, so it’s really luck of the draw if you want to speak with her.

She is primarily there to distribute the troops to different locations depending on how the cultist attacks are commencing, but if things get particularly bad in her command area, she’ll join in the fray with no hesitation and prove herself to be a very capable warrior herself.]

28th to 31st

[Long used to sudden and abrupt calls to action, Ororo wakes immediately. She spends the first few moments disoriented and confused but throws herself into the action before long, especially once she realizes the attacks come from the air. If her friends and teammates don't already wake, she's quick to alert them.

Mostly she keeps to her team. It has been quite some time since the X-Men have had a chance to work together, or indeed even fight together as a unit like this. Ororo makes sure to keep them close when she can, if only because she needs to know they are safe.

But inevitably there are times that she's separated from them. And though she is loath to leave her friends, she had no problems working with others. Whether it's in piloting one of the Malnosso's aircrafts in an effort to take down what airships that come their way, hurling well-placed lightning bolts at the cultists and droids that take the fortress by storm, or volunteering to secure and reclaim the garrisons with strange weather conditions - Storm can be found nearly anywhere. Getting caught up in the action was easy - Storm went where she was needed, after all. And it seemed that there was always something new to accomplish, someone else to help, enemies to face, friends to protect. The trick was remembering to stop - even she had to recover her energies, after all.]

Day Five

[They'd been fighting for days. They'd made progress, yes, but people had been hurt. Killed. Even their home sectors were a mess of broken buildings, bodies, crashed vehicles. Everywhere you looked there was evidence of fighting and violence.

Natasha had managed to catch a lull in the fighting for a short while, had found a tree to climb up in and settle among the branches. It even still maintained some of its leaves, despite everything.

Using the brief moments of solitude to take advantage of a few rations and her water bottle, she still keeps her eyes sweeping her surroundings, waiting for the inevitable return of their attackers. She'd gotten separated from the group she'd traveled out here with, but she doubted it would be hard to find another. It would be easy enough to follow the sound of fighting.]

[Well, *this* is quite a change in scenery. While he couldn’t say it's the first time he’d fought amid and within a floating fortress (vivid memories of infiltrating the Albatross were never far from the surface of his mind), this is hell of a lot higher up and more impressive in that regard, the air thin, sharp, and invigoratingly slap-in-the-face crisp. But needless to say, there isn't the time to do a little sight-seeing. He's in the front lines and in the thick of the fray, doing his part to clear a path for the MSF soldiers looking to get those outer turrets up and running to gun down the airships. As expected, there’re no shortage of droids and cultists resisting fiercely.

Though packing heavy firepower, careful management of less-than-bountiful ammunition means he only uses it in short, rattling bursts, Joe’s machine gun punching holes through weaker armours and chewing up bodies to a pulp, chests spurting blood. His bionic arm remains his most useful tool on the whole however, coming to good use especially in the way of crowd control. Firing it out and twisting his body sharply, he viciously swings it like a flail, his metal hand doubling into a fist – and as it sweeps heavily through the air in a semi-circle, it smashes bones to splinters and deeply dents the bodies of droids on impact, sweeping enemies off their feet. It’s a tactic that fends off would-be ambushers coming at him from all angles and buys him some time for a quick breather -- that is, until a new challenger crosses his path, eyes flashing with eagerness, bloodthirstiness, and something more Spencer can’t place in the split second he catches it. Snapping to attention, he swiftly raises his beast of prosthesis and trains it on the Shifter before launching it out like a missile – or trying to. But his hand’s inexplicably jammed at the wrist, completely unresponsive.

Dead metal.]

[A chill steals through him, his focus wavering as alarm and adrenaline grip his chest. Memories of desert warfare and defending District 8 with a barely-functional arm rush through his mind. But shaking them off, he whips out the machine gun and squeezes the trigger. A torrent of electricity catches him first, tearing jaggedly through him and rattling the breath from his lungs, a dizzyingly bright spatter of sun-spots bursting behind his eyes. His mind reels wildly, nerves twitching in the aftershock. But before he has the chance to wheel around and take out the cultist commanding the forces of lightning, he’s hit by another staggering wave and goes rigid for an instant, jaw locked and muscles seizing. Amid the agonizing, helpless spasms comes a searing pain lancing through his chest - a startlingly unfamiliar pain in a class of its own that shakes him into alertness, icy sweat prickling along his backbone just before his heart judders to a stop. Everything stops. Like with the simple flick of a switch. The machine gun slips from numbed fingers and he follows quickly, legs buckling bonelessly.

He drops to his side amid the whirling chaos of combatants in motion, just one casualty among dozens. The war goes on.]

You can go about this *any* way you want -- all that I ask is for your character to be successful at reviving him. :P Deets about Spencer himself can be found here, because he's tougher to do compressions on and has metal *in* his body as well as on the outside. I'll tag around with him a bit outside this thread so this isn't the only chance to interact with him. Also, to avoid tag content overlap on my part, I think it's best I keep to having only three rescue threads for this at the very most. Characters can band together or work alone, whatever you want! Day 2!

[Saori dances among the combatants, a blur of motion with a blade in her right hand, and a whirling ball of wind covering her left. Blood sprays up wherever she moves, but it never seems to quite touch her. Nimbly she twists and twirls, always watching for someone in need of assistance. The buzzing sensation of electrical magic in the air drew her, along with the sight of an ally collapsing to the ground with the dull -chunk- of metal, surrounded by foes.

Spencer. Captain Nathan Spencer.

Eyes wide, the goddess abandons her deadly minuet and explodes into motion. Her feet launch into the air, sailing through enemies and allies alike. A whirlwind kicks up around the fallen soldier, hurling aside the cultists like bowling pins, sending them careening away. Saori barely spares them a second glance as she stoops to beside Spencer. Her heart nearly stops when she feels his chest, and his lack of a pulse.]

Nathan!

[Too much metal in his body...she can feel that as she touches him. Knowing that, she knows she'll fry him if she tries anything electrical. Cook his insides as surely as ever. So her fist balls up and slams down on his chest. Hoping that she's not too late she begins beating away at his heart, pumping what blood she can...]

Days 2-3 & 5-6

[28th – Day 2]

[Vastra is one of the first to spring out of bed and rush outside at the first sounds of fighting. No one stood on two sides and agreed to start a battle at a certain time anymore, not if one side wanted to win. She had almost expected it to start in the middle of the night--there was less visibility and the chance of catching their side off-guard. But Vastra is ready. As ready as she imagines she'll ever be.]

[She throws herself into the fight, any fight she comes across, with stunning endurance. Anyone who has seen her around town in her bustle gowns with hats and veils and groceries is seeing a different woman now. She is vicious against the cultists, using a combination of her swords and the paralytic toxin in her tongue to take down the unfortunate ones who cross her path. She'll stop to help anyone she can though, especially any of her previous acquaintances. She isn't entirely single-minded in her killing spree, though her attitude is rather grim. If she absolutely needs rest, she'll climb a tree.]

[In her fight through TERRACE, Vastra makes it to T2... and immediately has to turn around and go the other way. Too cold for a lizard woman from the dawn of time. As she retreats out of the blizzard, her fight becomes that much harder due to cold limbs and she struggles to dispatch the cultists coming at her one after the other.]

[29th – Day 3]

[On the third day, Vastra is starting to show some fatigue. She's expending more energy than she has in a while over a long period of time. She's climbing trees to rest more often, until she realizes with some unsettling finality that she's going to have to restore her energy by eating. And there are, of course, plenty of opportunities to eat...]

[She climbs down from her tree and ventures into T5, away from where she feels most of the draftees are fighting due to the thunderstorms. This isn't something she wants anyone to watch.]

[Vastra drags the body of the most recent unfortunate cultist over the ground and behind a few trees. After confirming he is in fact dead and sniffing the body cautiously, Vastra checks one more time for observers and then crouches over the body to begin eating.]

[31st – Day 5]

[Disturbed by the mob mentality that seems to have gripped certain draftees, Vastra makes herself very scarce and begins following the Shift Hunters to their targets. She's familiar with the Shifters now, and has realized that they have little to no effect on her own abilities, making her a perfect candidate to assist hunting them down.]

[1st – Day 6]

[Droids. Vastra's specialty is taking down metal men, really. Continuing her diet of fallen cultists has improved her endurance, and she decides that while she is familiar with technology and could assist in reactivating the barriers, her expertise in dispatching robots is best used in the central areas of the battle. If the defenses are to be reinstated, Vastra reasons, each arm of the assault has to be equally strong. To encourage panic and confusion amongst the other side.]

Day Three

[Natasha grows a little worried when some of the worst of the action clears out where they'd been fighting and she notices Vastra is gone. They'd been fighting together off and on since the day before, occasionally finding each other in the midst of the fighting since both of them seemed most often drawn to where the attacks were at their heaviest.

Now there are bodies strewn everywhere and the fighting has paused for the moment, an uneasy stalemate with the Cultists retreating back into the next sector. Had Vastra followed them?

She pauses for a drink, wiping the dirt and sweat and grim from her face as she waits, but there's no sign of the other woman, so she starts out, cautious in case another attack comes quicker than she anticipates.

She scales the wall as she enters the next sector, moving carefully because she's seen how dangerous this section can be. There are bodies scattered here - some have been slain. Some, she suspects, have fallen from the built-in protections this sector seems to possess. She searches as she goes, eyes scanning for any sign of her missing friend.]

Days 2 - 6

[28th/29th: Day 2 & 3]
[The alarm goes off in the middle of the night and Natasha is moving even as she wakes, hands reaching for her weapons and her belt. They weren't supposed to be attacked here but she doesn't let the confusion slow her, making her way outside to spot the airships overhead and the first Cultists dropping down into their sector.

She throws herself into the fighting, sticking close to Clint, occasionally spotting familiar faces nearby, helping any of her fellow villagers she comes across. The waves of cultists seem endless and there's little time for strategy in the thickest of the fighting. Just action and reaction.]


[30th/31st: Day 4 & 5]
[With the appearance of the Droids, Natasha starts picking out more important targets than just the swarms of Cultists. It doesn't take her long to figure out that the Droids are being controlled by nearby Shifters and they become her primary targets whenever she spots them. She sticks to the groups dispatched to take them down, lending her skills where she can, continuing to fight the waves of attackers in between.

By now, the constant movement and action is showing a little in the strain of keeping up, although maybe not as bad as some. She still tries to catch snatches of rest and recovery time here and there and it's a little easier once they've secured most of their own sectors.]


[1st: Day 6]
[With actual orders and destinations handed out this morning, Natasha picks the one she thinks needs her skill the most. It's not an easy choice, because wading into battle isn't exactly her style, although she's been getting far more practice at it of late. But things are finally starting to look a little more hopeful in their fighting with sectors of the city being retaken and she is anxious to push out even further.]

[Day 2, morning] Why hello there.

[Well, Natasha, you're not the only one who's headed toward the fight pretty fast when the alarm goes. Seems you have company in the form of a sixteen-year-old blonde, running toward the fight.

And stripping off clothing as she goes. Luckily, she has tighter clothing underneath the shirt and pants, but still, y'don't see that every day.]

Days 2 - 6

[28th - 31st: Days 2-5]
[Artemis isn't sure what to expect with this Draft thing, and falling asleep the night before deployment is harder than it should have been. Which is why when the alarms go off in the middle of the night, it feels as though she's just fallen asleep and it takes her longer to clear the groggy disorientation to realize that something's really wrong.

Once she's on her feet, she joins in the fighting. She's dressed in her uniform, equipped with her bows. Usually she sticks to high vantage points when she can, keeping herself up and out of the thickest of the fighting. Although sometimes the fighting comes to her and while she does her best to stock up, she still has to make several trips during the day to restock on arrows, although she retrieves ones she finds as she can. She uses this as an excuse to catch some sleep and food as she can, checking in on news about what's happening elsewhere. She's not new to fighting, but this is far beyond her realm of experience, the constant struggle, the threat of attackers dropping down at any time, with no real lasting safety to be found.

Still, she does her best, keeping ranged when she can, fighting hand-to-hand when she can't, sometimes calling on every skill and trick she knows to evade the swarms of Cultists. When the Droids show up, she does venture out with a few groups to hunt down the Shifters controlling them and it's a little easier to go shooting at robots than it is the seemingly suicidal Cultists. It only takes one near-death experience to realize that these guys weren't pulling any of their punches and after that, she doesn't either, taking them down with a grim determination born from knowing if one of them was going to die, she didn't want it being her.]


[1st: Day 6]
[By the sixth day, she's drained and exhausted and wishing more than anything for the boring uneventful month she'd spent in the village. She wasn't going to be taking that for granted again any time soon. But they had orders today and it's an easy pick for Artemis to decide where she's headed. The mention of the detention centers scattered throughout the other garrisons are a place she can do some good, help people. And while she's not exactly having a crisis of conscience over the actions she's had to take over the past five days, the idea of being able to save people instead of just destroy them appeals to her.]

Day 2

The chaos of the first wave has settled and though the city still has cultists lurking about, there's a chance to breathe again. That's when Sokka, with his own look, catches sight of a girl in green with a familiar looking bow up on a nearby roof. The mask covers here face, but it's not really that hard to take a shot in the dark at who he's looking at. So he makes his way to the top, not exactly being quiet as he does (best not to surprise a fighter). He offers a friendly wave as he reaches the top.

"Artemis? That you?"

Days 2-6

March 28th-29th (Day 2-3)

[The alarm is sudden and Cross is bolted awake by the sound. People rushing out, it was happening. War was happening. He has to take a moment before he grabs his things and runs out into the dark.

It's dark. Really dark. He can't see anything in front of him but it's happening. Gun shots. Swords clashing. He has to gape around in the dark for a moment. Note to self, install night vision on his visor for next time. Anyone from the village, anyone he finds that's here to stop the cultists he joins up with. ]

[Cross is throwing himself into battle. Any cultist that comes his way he throws knives into their shoulders and legs, trying to disable them anyway he could. Just keep them down. Don't aim to kill. That's all he could do.

Later, Cross can be found driving throughout the city in an armored jeep. He maneuvers the vehicle swiftly throughout the battlefield. Fighting in a vehicle was the smartest move right now. Moving fast would decrease the chance that his enemies would hit him but it kept him from attacking. But he couldn't even fight back like this, unless he found a partner. Seeing people from Luceti, he stops immediately beside them extending a hand out.]

GET IN I'M GONNA NEED SOME HELP!

March 30th-31st (Day 4-5)

[Crap, crap, crap. Droids. Why droids. They're way too strong to take on hand to hand and he just can't...he can't do this. The bodies. All of them were just piling up. Cross had taken shelter in fallen building. Damn it, damn it. What could he do?]

April 1st

[People had been captured and locked in detention centers. That's something he could. It didn't require seeing anymore death. Right now, Cross peeks out from behind a wall looking. How would he get in? More importantly he couldn't do it alone.]

Day 3

[Cross's sudden appearance beside her in his Jeep startles Artemis out of her concentration. She'd gotten knocked off her roof a short while earlier and had been doing her best from the ground until things cleared enough for her to seek out another safe vantage point. But she was tiring fast and there were too many directions to guard at once.

Which was why his offer didn't even make her hesitate for more than the moment it took her to register who it was and what he was asking. Her lips curve in a grin as she swings herself up and into the back of the Jeep.]

Just what I needed. Please tell me you know how to drive this thing?

28th

Sokka was asleep and snoring in his bunk when the alarm sounded. He practically fell out of bed as he tried to wake himself up and be ready for the attack. He delays rushing out the door, though. If the battle is going to start, he's going to make sure he's damn well ready for it. He suits up in his wolf armor, applies his warrior's face paint, and then he's ready. He meets the enemies with his sword drawn and taking advantage of his boomerang to clip the wings of the cultists still in the air. He's running on very little sleep, not that his nights have been very restful to begin with. There's a brutal, cold efficiency to how he fights. It's not quite new, but it's much colder than it has been in the past. As he tries to make sense of the battle, he ends up taking to the roof tops, where he has a wide view of his enemies around him.

29th

He managed to catch some sleep when the cultists regrouped and gave the draftees a chance to catch their breath. He didn't sleep much, but it was enough to eat, tie his hair back again, and close his eyes for just a few minutes. Later in the day, that's his very trap. Sitting next to a building, he keeps his eyes closed and makes no effort to disguise the fact he's alive. But only because it's a trap. The careful eye will notice lines drawn in the ground. A circle, several meters wide, just waiting to be activated. When the cultists walk into it, Sokka is quick to move forward, place his hands on the circle and activate it. The result? A moment as the cultists scream in agony before being burned alive instantly. It takes a little effort to dispose of the bodies, but then he sets the trap again. And again. And again.

30th/31st

With the droids now into the fray, it's harder to use his previous tactics. The droids are faster than he is and his weapons barely scratch them. So it becomes a daring game of dodge the metal fists as he hunts down Shifters. He works with others when he can, but he finds it better to move on the streets, through alleys, keeping low the ground and picking out Shifters hiding in the buildings. Eventually he teams up with a MSF soldier and a Shift Hunter, making this hunt even more effective. But he's running even lower on sleep and as it hits the 31st, he's finding it difficult to stay awake when his life isn't in immediate jeopardy.

29th

There are no canons here to announce deaths. No projection in the sky with the name and District and image of the fallen. But word still makes its way around the battlefield. Draftees gossip. The dead are passed by on short trips to the infirmary. It's difficult to avoid.

For the most part, she's been fighting this attack unscathed. Minor scratches and wounds here and there just add to the scars which already cover her body. Only a few arrows have been lost for good but in the past day, she's made certain to double up on the number in her possession. Because the anger, the fire that bubbles up inside of Katniss is unlike any she's felt in a long time.

A little boy died yesterday. A boy that shouldn't have been on the draft in the first place. And even if death might not be permanent here, it hurts. It reminds her of other deaths - deaths too she could do nothing about.

She's lost track of the number of kills she's made. First for survival and now just to bring a quicker end to this damn attack. From her vantage point on top one of the mid-sized buildings, she can see enough to send her exploding arrows in the right direction. Can see--

Damn him! What was he doing? The circle around him goes unnoticed the moment she sees Sokka lying against a nearby building, apparently napping as if there wasn't a war going on. One of her arrows instantly flies in the direction of an approaching cultist before she takes to the stairs.

Only to emerge in time to see the fire ensnare and burn other cultists alive. Her eyes go wide and she jogs carefully over towards him. "What was that?"

28th

Logan was dead asleep when the battle started. When the alarm went off, he quickly pulled his pants back on, rolled out of bed, and hit the battlefield. He wasted no time suiting up, as there simply wasn't time for that. It's the dead of night, but he spends hours clawing through the cultists until they stop coming. It's only then that he heads back to the barracks, showers the blood off of him, and then suits up in uniform.

29th

He fights his way to the docking bay where he finds that not all the aircraft has been destroyed. There's no time to be choosy, so he takes to the skies in a fighter jet, shooting down individual cultists in the air with machine gun fire, before going against the airships and turning the missiles against them. It's a fine plan, but with so many enemies in the air, he's eventually forced to eject from the plane, forcing him to make an emergency landing inside one of the airships. Now the trick is surviving long enough for it to reach the city, ideally with only him left in it.

30th/31st

Working with the MSF is old hat for him by now. Between his nose and the Shift Hunter's own abilities, hunting down Shifters is cake. Of course, sometimes he has to resort to using a pair of Berettas to gun them down, but that's what a man has to do when his powers are blocked. But for the duration of this battle, he's pressing forward, going as far as the other soldiers are willing to go, and trying to retake the city. At this point he largely stays within T5 and T4, in spite of the storm and subsequent heatwave that make things difficult.

30th (more growling and stalking away? :D)

Loki's out in T5 picking off droids and stragglers. He's moving along while invisible when the spell simply fails - there must be a shifter around. Annoying, that. Perhaps it's a chance for him and Logan to run across each other. Loki's got quite a bit of blood on him... most of it isn't his.

27th-29th

[Day 2

Sheena doesn't even remember waking up. All she knows is the chaos happening around them in the sleeping quarters, and a vague sense that she may have hit her head on the bunk above hers when the alarm went off. Listening in, she hears about the attacks from the air and the sheer number of third party cultists descending on the floating city.

Well. Time to get to business. She'll be outside fighting in the melee for the most part, too pressed to find room or time to summon, and at times too hemmed in to handle all of her opponents alone. Since she uses a close-range fighting style, it's great when she can get inside the reach of some of the third party soldiers but really terrible when they can keep her back with their weapons.

And she keeps having that thought. The one about how they might be forced to fight their hardest, too.

Day 3

As the fighting wears on and it becomes pretty apparent just who is going to win the day (at least where T6 and T7 are concerned), Sheena cares less about taking down cultists and more about making sure that the people on her side get to safe places. It's easier to use stealth on a day like this, with everyone weary and people formed into more tactical arrangements; if she spots anyone in trouble, no matter which enclosure, she'll be coming to help them out of it however she can.

Toward the end of the day, out of time and resources and energy, she falls back to hiding or retreating - stuck in T8, with its persistent night blackness. Somewhere in there she might manage to catch some sleep.

Day 4

With the fighting arriving at T8 unannounced as usual, Sheena finds herself at the mercy of a Dream Shifter quite early on. Not that she's aware of it, really, since 'waking up' to a quiet morning in her village is what she has wanted for years, right? Leaving her 'house', Sheena will wander streets that feel like home until she finds the person she didn't even know she was looking for.

Anyone who walks in on her false dream will see a curious mix of Mizuho and Luceti architecture, and people going by that belong to both places. Sheena's talking to her grandpa.]

Day 2

[Xzana had at first run off at the alarms, wanting to be far away from the scary and loud noises. Eventually she wanders back to were more fighters are located.

Flying up in the air she doesn't attack right away, first smelling the fighters and then realizing one smelled of Luceti. It's watching those others with the larger wings keeping her at bay that Xzana finally decides to move. After all, she can't fight all of htese people on her own. Probably a good idea to help out those who smell of Luceti.

Congratulations Sheena. You have a large winged girl crashing down on top of a few of the Third Party members attack you. She does have a smaller Luceti wing set hidden behind those large wings, but she's welcome to not see that right away.]

The 28th, morning

[Fortunately, Rachel was already awake after sleeping off the altitude sickness and the exhaustion of MSF boot camp. As a result, she's already alert and wide-awake when the alarm goes off.

Taking a few moments to remove the loose outer clothing, she heads out for the battle in her traditional morphing outfit. Sure, it seems vulnerable, but don't worry, she knows what she's doing.]

The 28th and 29th

[You may have occasion to see any of a number of animals around and among the airships, particularly a bald eagle or one of these fun guys. The Hork Bajir may look tall and gawky, but they're naturally arboreal, so they're surprisingly graceful and agile and incredibly durable, making them well-suited to navigating the ships, jumping from ship to ship, and- in particular- killing and maiming cultists that get in her way.]

The 30th

[It'll be back to working with teams again, and she's got a trick up her sleeve- she acquired a Cultist, and she may use that disguise to her advantage. Hopefully it won't lead to too many misunderstandings.

The 1st

[She'll be looking to help out anywhere she can. She's got morphs for everything- infiltration, stealth, getting into tight spaces, or just some old-fashioned butt-kicking, so whatever we need to do, Rachel's probably down to help.

Just try and keep her on the reckless side of the line between reckless and suicidal, and watch out for the dream shifters- she really doesn't want to tangle with one of those.

[Metal flashes in the sun, raw-throated cries rising above the clanging of blades and explosions. In the thick of the frenzy, close enough to be splattered by blood spurting from ragged neck-stumps and watch the eyes of his enemies glaze over, is where the Forgemaster has all too readily thrust himself. A powerful, long-smouldering fury finds its release at last, guiding his blades through flesh and sinew while Abel, a creature mastered by patience and fiery ambition, restlessly circles the skies above. There is no place two hungry devils belong more.

A brief lull in battle offers Isaac the chance to glance about himself and observe those fighting amongst him for reasons all their own. It’s when he spots a bear plowing through cultists. Well. The corners of his thin lips curl upwards with a hint of amusement.]

Loki 28-1st

Day 2-4
[Loki goes into the same mode as the previous draft; he doesn't bother to sleep beyond catnaps, and only eats when necessary or forced. When the battle starts, he takes a post with the healers and is for the most part difficult to find, ready to drop out of invisibility and kill if an enemy gets too close.

Loki is mostly staying close to the healers, though he will range further afield if he has a battle partner to watch his back. Also, he'll be out and about more often as the days progress and he sees that if this thing is to be won, he'll have to be more active.]

Day 5
[With the issue of the large-winged infiltrators, Loki is doing his own assassination and infiltration. Alone or with a partner that isn't squeamish, he's not bothering to take prisoners; he's just dropping from invisibility long enough to slit throats before vanishing again. Silent, brutal, and efficient.]

Day 6
[Loki is working the infiltration side of the droid problem and shutting down the droids.]

Day 4

[Things really are going downhill rather rapidly.]

[Vastra knew, intimately, how to disarm and destroy a robot. Cybermen were her ultimate specialty, having fended off waves of them before. However there came a point where sheer numbers overwhelmed skill, and Vastra has clearly hit that point and gone past it.]

[She dismounts unsteadily from Eugene and Jack's hover vehicle and limps straight for the medical support. Four days in, this is the first time she's freely admitting that her injuries are affecting her ability to fight and defend herself. In fact, this is probably the first time in a long time she's been this hurt. It appears she's been shot twice in her upper arm (though the bleeding has slowed) and she's holding her side (that one seems to be the worst one, given how much attention she's giving it).]

Medic...! [She tries to bite back a wince, damn it she needs a chair.] I need... a medic! [She needs something, though she doesn't know what can be done about the hole in her stomach.]

Days Two & Three // T8 & T1

The rifleman was already awake when the alarm broke across the garrison. Such a call to arms invited a familiar and bitter taste to the back of his throat: what modern science would call adrenaline but what Sharpe merely thought of as duty. Until he could find higher ground, he was content to brawl his way through alleyways, sending his sword deep into bellies and cracking skulls with an unaccustomed ease. Turned out Ganondorf's sorcery had truly steeled the soldier, allowing him to fight with more strength and alacrity than he had ever before enjoyed. And -- damn it all -- if he didn't just relish every moment.

He filled his daily hours with slaughter, surprised at how he didn't tire. Sharpe often keened some unintelligible war cry as he thought of Gawilghur. Of Ciudad Rodrigo. Of Badajoz. And he no longer knew where his blood ended and his enemies' began. He stalked the streets of the contested garrisons, eager to put more Cultists to the sword.

But at night, he was a different man: "Poor old soldier, poor old soldier--" he sang, peaceful and measured as he took shelter in a barracks on the attack's first night and then in a gutted gymnasium on the second. Even in the garrison plagued with continual night, he made time to rest. If he managed to find an ally to share his space, then he would afford himself a few hours of sleep. Otherwise, he sat with his rifle on his lap. While he waited out the darkness, he continued to sing: "If ever I list as a soldier again, the devil will be me sergeant."

These days, Sharpe was certain he knew what the devil's face. And -- oh, how much he owed to that man!

Day Four & Five // T1

When not sniping from higher ground, Sharpe was troubled by Dream Shifters. Sharpe had never met with one before now, despite their tales. Given how poorly he had anticipated such magics, they find an easy target in the soldier. His Elysium took the shape of an army camp. Off-white tents pitched in orderly rows; camp wives hanging washing; smartly marching companies. And Sharpe, sharing a cuppa and a meal with his men.

Help break him free? Or else allow him to stumble into someone else's dream?

Night 2

Clove hears the singing. That's what draws her closer at night, when she's hunting any stragglers. During the day, she's been as vicious as anyone. Today, she was with Cato most of the day. Tomorrow, they're going their separate ways. Just for a time. The plan's to meet up again in after about eight hours. But she knows how those plans tend to work out for them.

But she knows Sharpe's voice, so she follows the sound until she finds him.

"Hey." Just a single, quiet word, so he doesn't take the approaching form for an enemy. What Clove doesn't know, of course, is that Sharpe knows more about her now than he did when last they spoke...

Days 2-6

Day 2-3: 28th/29th

[The alarm is a shock to the system and Max jolts awake, breathing harshly. People are moving and it takes him a few moments to realise what the hell that sound really is.

The battle itself leaves him frozen for moment, because there's so many people, so much movements, so much blood. He can hear people screaming. It's nothing he's ever been prepared for but he has friends out there, and how can he not do whatever he can to help them?]

Day 4: 30th

[The droids attacking just add to the confusion of the invasion. They don't get tired, don't have to eat or rest. Don't bleed out. On the other hand, they don't scream either.]

Day 5: 31st

[He sees some of the draftees killing people indiscriminately. It sets him on edge, more than he already is anyway. He spends the day trying to protect people, shielding them as best he can, using everything he's got. He can't deny, there's a little satisfaction in using his own nightmare wards against the cultists after seeing what the Dream Shifters can do.]

Day 6: 1st

[He'd screwed up. God, Sabriel... There's no time to hide though, or to berate himself, so he throws himself into helping free detainees, using his magic to the point of almost burning out. But maybe, maybe if he can help to free enough people, he'll be able to sleep sometime soon. Maybe it might make up for what he'd done, even a little.]

Day 6 (right?)

[Loki has come back to have a superficial wound cleaned. Mostly he's here just to take a little break, have a drink of water and snatch something that involves calories before heading out again.

Only he's seen what happened to Sabriel. He recalls all too easily when Sabriel was a child, taking her for a ride on Vakri. It's those images that echo fiercely in his mind when he sees her current state. And he wants to have a chat with Max. A chat that involves him grabbing Max by the front of the shirt, dragging him somewhere marginally more quiet, and pinning him against a wall.

Just in case Max had forgotten that Loki isn't human, pinning him against a wall involves holding him, one-handed, far enough off the ground that his feet no longer reach.]

[The sound of the alarm has Fuuko ducking under the covers of her bed and holding her head down, she hadn't planned on waking up to a racket like that. Eventually she peaks out from under the sheets she has pulled up to her face and notices people rushing around, getting dressed and preparing all sorts of weapons.

While she might not be going out to fight, Fuuko pulls herself out of bed and gets dressed, considerably slower than the majority of people around her. She won't be leaving the barracks at all until the fighting outside has stopped, but she'll be doing her best to be helpful in the mean time. If anyone should return to the barracks to rest up or recover something and it looks like they're in need of help, Fuuko will come over and try to lend a hand.]

29th

[When it becomes apparent that T6 and T7 have been properly secured, Fuuko makes her way outside the barracks to take a look around. It's hard to miss the number of dead soldiers and draftees from other enclosures all over the place. The sight alone is enough to send Fuuko back inside. She spends the rest of the day going over the first aid she's learnt and trying to help draftees should they return to the barracks.]

30th

[It's only through hearing draftees from other enclosures talking that Fuuko hears about droids being sent out to fight now. She's not intentionally trying to listen in, but when a group of Kin'Coran draftees barge into the barracks to rest up, shouting loudly to one another about fighting and other gory details, it's hard to ignore. One particularly mouthy draftee who can't seem to let go of the fact the Vaskoth soldiers were given better living quarters has Fuuko come over and check a shallow cut in his arm. She bandages the man up as quickly and neatly as she can, but once finished he leaves without a word to her with the rest of his group.

Were it any other situation then she would have called after them man, mentioning how rude he was to just leave without a thank you. But he's going back out there to fight and make more of a difference than she is by sitting inside and avoiding the battle. It's just a thank you anyway, manners probably don't apply to situations like these.]

30th

[Layton stands wordlessly, bent under the weight of an unconscious draftee across his shoulders, as the bandaged man and his group brush past him and exit the barracks. Layton ignores them in favor of Fuuko and a nearby cot, where he carefully releases the draftee from his fireman's carry.]

Day 1

[Finding herself unable to sleep, Pilouette is already awake when the alarm goes off. Jumping, she lets out a cry as she slams her head on the bunk above her. It takes only a few moments before it's clear what's going on. They're being attacked. Here. Now. This isn't supposed to be happening, but it is. An sudden, unexpected attack.

This frightening thought in her mind, she quickly gets dressed, taking care to put on her fake glasses, and snatches up her bag and first aid kit before hurrying to find where the medical area has been set up.]

Days 2 -4

[Not knowing what else to do, Pilouette scuttles about, going between the barracks and the medical area, doing what she's told and trying her best to help out when she can. On her own, all she can do with any kind of confidence is treat minor injuries; not much more than disinfecting and bandaging small wounds or taking care of sprains or twisted ankles. Putting herself at the beck and call of...just about anyone, she can't help but feel just a little more powerless than before.]

Day 5

[The draft is definitely taking it's toll. Even having spent over a year in this world, this is entirely new for her and much more horrifying than anything else she's ever experienced. As a girl who spent most of her life relatively well off and somewhat sheltered, even while keeping herself out of direct combat, the chaos and violence of battle has made Pilouette into something of a mess.

Over the course of the draft she's been finding herself unable to sleep beyond very short lengths, barely eating at all, becoming increasingly jumpy and keeping herself constantly moving about to try and be of some use to someone. To anyone. Near the end of the day, emotionally and physically exhausted, Pilouette collapses just outside the barracks.]

Day 3

[Though Mia finds many ways to keep busy on this draft, she spends a fair bit of time in the designated medical area too, thinking it is where spare hands are most needed. A free moment presents itself and she spots Pilouette assisting someone from another enclosure. She might not be in over her head but she looks like she feels that way.

Mia makes her way over there, tapping Pilouette on the shoulder gently to make her presence known.]

[This, offline guns and all, is what Calhoun was made for. The adrenaline rush, the danger everywhere, the overall goal to keep everyone else from getting taken offline... it's all like being right back at home. And Calhoun's confidence is unwavering. She doesn't tire easily; oh, no, not with a job like this to do.

Throughout the two days, she spends most of her time up in the air, gunning down the airships with calculated expertise. She spends some time on the ground, though, providing backup where needed or making sure that nobody else is falling down on the job.]

Day 4 - Locked to Ralph

[Droid and Shifter hunting has backfired. Bigtime. Calhoun, hot on the trail of a Dream Shifter, has ended up caught in its trap. For now, it's peaceful, though... or, at least, it seems that way...]

Day 6

[It's been an overly long draft, and it's not the fighting that's worn Calhoun down. She's feeling particularly harassed and short-tempered, but maybe that's why she's going out to liberate people from the detention centers with quite the level of gusto she's summoning up. May whatever gods out there have mercy on any enemies getting in her way, because she's about ready to take a page out of Ralph's book and just wreck everything in her path.

It's time to get this ridiculousness over with and go home, dammit. And if she has to tear every enemy fixture down and fix what needs fixing herself, she'll do it. Play time is over.]

[Ralph has been trying to catch up with Calhoun for hours - even driving around in his jeep, he's somehow never managed it. Until now, that is. He stumbles out of the car upon seeing her in the distance, caught in an odd sphere. Some kind of force field? But something's definitely wrong with her.

That looks like a Shifter... but he seems totally unaware of him, just focused on Calhoun. Not that Ralph actually thinks most of these thoughts, because he's charging forward as soon as he notices she's in danger.]

[He tries to punch forward at what he thinks is a force field - only to find himself passing through into... somewhere else.]

[Day Two & Three - March 28th - 29th]:
[Saori is up and dressed in a literal blur. She's charging off out the door, hands gripping her weapons, an almost joyous smile on her face. The sounds of combat sing in her ears, from the musical clang of weapons to the discordant screams of the dying. Without hesitation, she takes to the air and meets the Cultists head on.

During this period Saori will be fighting airships, airborne enemies, and anything else she can find that looks hostile. At some point she commandeers an enemy airship with Vegeta, and a second time with Rachel, to use as mobile battle platforms until the cultists bring them down. She'll be surrounded by a glowing nimbus of magic, her Anima, and the air around her will be quite charged with electricity.]

Day Four - March 30th:

[Once the enemy makes landfall, Saori will take on a defensive role, trying to keep sections of the facility clear of enemies. She'll partner up with Clint to keep the halls as free as they can. At some point, she'll take a wound severe enough to not heal immediately and make her way back to the medics to set the bone so it can heal.]

Day Five - March 31st:
[As the fighting intensifies, Saori is forced to fight in more close quarters situations with other people, which severely hampers her abilities to do things without hurting allies. So instead of simple displays of divine power, she starts to focus more on empowering and aiding others with her spellcraft. If you're near her, your sword may start to crackle with lightning, and your club might swing with gale-force. She's always on the lookout for injured or surrounded Lucetians, and fights with little regard for her own safety to reach them and aid them.]

Day Six - April 1st:

[On the final day, Saori hears the orders and uncharacteristically decides to obey. She teams up with Fox Mulder to reach a detention facility to break out captured fighters. She's even trying to be sneaky, doing her best to help the two of them get close without alerting patrols and getting them into hot water.]

Day 6!

[Obeying orders isn't always Mulder's favorite thing either, but when it comes to rescuing people from capture... he's in on that right away. He's glad he has Saori with him on this, whatever may happen. It can't ever hurt to have a goddess on your side, right?]

[It's the last day, so he's battle-worn by now, but he's used to running on adrenaline and determination. He waits in a fairly hidden spot and watches closely as one of those patrols goes by, waiting for an opportunity to move past them.]

[When the alarm sounds, Kain goes automatically into battle-readiness. Much as the unexpectedness is annoying, he's always prepared to fight. So he's among the first to get up and out there to join in the battle, as serious and intense as always.]

Day 4 / T5

[He fights the droids and shifters, of course. Kain is still going strong, barely stopping to rest as he goes up against the incoming enemies. He's especially around T5 right in the middle of the thunderstorm. He's open to any sort of teaming up!]

Day 5/T2

[In a tough battle, on this day, Kain gets wounded pretty badly. He's in the middle of the frigid cold of T2 at this point... and one of his penalties isn't helping matters where his injuries are concerned. He's going to need to get out of this trouble before it gets even worse. Help!?]

Day 6/anywhere

[He probably should be resting, but he won't do that when there's still fighting to be done. So, good idea or not, Kain finds some way to get back out there. Any healers trying to stop him, he finds some way to push past. How long he'll last- before he either collapses or is forced back- will have to be seen.]

Day 5

[Rydia hates this area, as much as she does any frigid time of year. The blizzard-like conditions are making combat far from ideal, and as for Kain...well, if he can't or won't limit himself, she will. She'll send healing magic his way, but also tugs at him before he can move forward or take to the air.]

[Day Two & Three - March 28th - 29th]:
[Rei's already a light sleeper, so thankfully the alarms don't cause her too much trouble. Unfortunately, the cramped conditions of the barracks prevent her from actively transforming without giving her away for all to see...so at first it's Rei Hino who goes out to fight instead of Sailor Mars. For a teenager, she's remarkably calm about all of this, though she's very grateful for the enchantments Harry left on her haori. Because Magical Girl or no, she's still human for the time being.

She fights with spells learned from friends, her Japanese longbow, and if anyone manages to get close they'll find that the teenage girl is no easy target thanks to her aikido. At least until she and Kari (and some time breaking with Okita Souji) run into one another...and some real trouble. After that, it's Sailor Mars who's throwing fire and jumping around with supernatural grace.]

Day Four - March 30th:

[On the fourth day, Rei is caught by surprise and trapped by a dream-shifter while in her civilian form. She'll be rescued by Max, and spend the remainder of the draft as Mars. A very, very angry Mars.]

Day Five - March 31st:
[As with the fourth day, Mars is in a bad mood, and she'll be partnering up to take down enemies, particularly those caught by Droids.]

Day Six - April 1st:

[On the final day, Mars bad mood reaches a crescendo and she'll attack a detention facility in a decidedly head-on fashion. She could use help doing so, of course, because that's a big job even for a Sailor Senshi.]

Day 2

[Cliff was already awake when the sirens rang-- rather, he hadn't actually slept yet. Being on the move always kept him alert and awake, and had given him a tendency to sleep lightly in general. Unlike most of the draftees, he was able to keep his head in the crush and the chaos that followed.

There was only a flicker of concern for his friends. They had been separated, but he knew their skills. The three of them could meet up later, when they had a chance to breathe. With all of the non-combatants around, he kept his focus on who and what was immediately around him.

Only one thing caught him off guard.]

[His mind was made up in a second. Mages shouldn't travel alone.]

Day 2/3

[After that rude awakening, Mulder gets ready to go out there. He makes sure he's with Scully on this, so they can have each other's backs as always out there. He keeps an eye out for Marita too, since he knows she's somewhere out here. He works together with any of his allies, new or old, and that goes for any of the days that follow...]

Day 4 / T8

[It just wouldn't be a real draft or X-Filey adventure without some wandering around through the black, black night. Mulder is largely in the area of perpetual darkness for this one, doing his thing and taking down what enemies he can. But defending their people is really his top priority, so he always keeps watch for people who are in trouble. Especially in a place like this. Appropriately enough for the nighttime setting, he gets himself caught by a Dream Shifter at some point...]

Day 5 / T4

[More fighting, going up against Cultists, and so on. Eventually he makes his way to T4 and the middle of the blazing heat. It's tough going under those conditions.]

Day 6 / everywhere

[Helping to liberate those detention centers is where Mulder feels he belongs the most, freeing those people who were held there. So that's where he puts his efforts on this last day.]

Day 4 (dunno your dream shifter plans; just combat is fine too!)

[Loki is in the area, just hunting for stragglers that have been separated from their groups and other easy marks. He simply appears from nowhere as he tears a droid apart or severs an unlucky foot soldier's spine with a dagger.]

[Day 2 & 3]

[The alarms startle Morrigan out of whatever sleep she had, and she rises with a start; chest heaving and eyes wide in surprise, she throws herself out of bed and hastily dresses before joining the fray.]

[Soul Fists fly in all directions as she takes out the Cultists from afar, though the occasional Shadow Blade will easily cleave a surprise attacker in two. She's capable on her own, though she would gladly appreciate help.]

[Day 4]

[Deciding that the best way to defeat these foes were to strike them at their heart, Morrigan delves deep into enemy territory, and soon finds herself in the midst of a raging storm. Through the din of thunder and the clashing of weapons, the succubus weaves through foes, striking quickly and ferociously. If anyone needs support, well, they're free to ask it of her.]

[Day 5 & 6]

[The fighting has worn her down, and now she's running on fumes. Day 5 is one of wary rest and an attempt at recuperation, though her myriad injuries seem superficial at best.]

[On Day 6, however, she decides that enough is enough -- and rushes back into the action full force, whether or not her body is at 100%. Of course, such reckless behavior is bound to end badly for her...]

Day 4

[Clove's in fighting form, throwing her knives, taking only a few seconds to retrieve them from fallen enemies before moving on to the next. The harder she fights, the less she thinks, and that's what she's craving right now.

That, and to stay as far away from people she knows as possible.

Which doesn't mean she doesn't cross paths with Lucetians. With her pack on the ground -- she isn't going to leave it somewhere, but she can't fight well while wearing it -- she's doing decently keeping foes at bay through the storm. But that doesn't stop one cultist from catching her shoulder with a heavy, broad weapon (though, thankfully, blunt) and sending her to the ground.

Which leaves her struggling to get up on the slick surface.]

All Days

[The Sarge had insisted the Ralph bring his Hero's Duty armor around for proper protection. When the attack begins in the dead of the first night, however, he winds up rushing into action without it. He doesn't go back to suit up until things die down.

Ralph aids the battle in his own way over the course of the following days. Mostly with his fists. He may try wielding firearms or other items he finds dropped by fallen enemies, but he's not too good with any of them. He tries to stick by the sarge, but separation is a thing that happens often. And while on his own or with someone he doesn't know well, it's very easy for him to snap and hide, in a mode of panic. Unless someone he cares about is in danger.

Maybe his skill is with vehicles instead. After all, he did help to raise up an adorable winner. At some point on the second day, he wants to try his hand at one of those few working jets. But regardless of whether or not anyone is nearby to witness his attempt to enter it, this will end with the jet in a state of an unusable wreck.

He instead manages to find a jeep that with a front seat that's close enough to him-sized. ...Or rather, it becomes him-sized when he crushes down the front seat and takes up most of the car. He spends most of the following days riding around the area on it trying to go from sector to sector - but very haphazardly all the way. It does help him to make quick getaways - and to make his way to any friends who seem to be in danger. The jeep slowly accumulates damage over the course of the battles, and when the gas runs out (or perhaps the battery even dies), he resorts to sticking his hands out the windows to propel it Flintstones-style.

On Day 5, the jeep is finally put to sleep when attacking droids destroy its remains. Ralph has no idea what's going on. He's just going to keep fighting off those droids endlessly, as much as they refuse to stay down. He may need someone to pass along the memo that the droids are being controlled by Shifters. That night, he's exhausted enough to sleep in the wreckage of the jeep.

On Day 6, he will be back in panic mode but still willing to follow the orders of whoever shouts some at him. Otherwise, he may take top the prison liberation task independently - at least he gets to wreck some things there to break them free.]

[ in the middle of the chaos, riding a ~FLAMING UNICORN~ when she hears the jeep out of nowhere while empoleon's busy freezing a droid into an icecube. wait, what?? rapidash freezes in place too like a deer in headlights, if Ralph doesn't stop in time it'll be quite the collision. ]

[Kurt is among those waking up in the dead of the night and initially takes to the fight in his pajamas before switching to his X-uniform.

As the fighting ensues, he'll try to stick near his teammates but you know how these things go. Separation is inevitable. Kurt tries to take the enemies down in as nonlethal ways as possible, armed with a scanner to do so. He's been taught some strategies for fighting the Cultists by Logan, but he may end up needing rescue from Shifters at several points. But otherwise, his teleporting makes him quite the handyman for helping others with their individual distresses, especially since he has one of Raine's radio communicators. Call in if you want a rescue!

But he'll experience specific actions depending on the day. On Days 2 and 3, he primarily fights normally. In the battle against the air ships, he may take to flying one of the jets using his experience with the X-Jet. But if anyone need a hand getting into an airship, he could be the one to teleport them there. However, all of his up-close tangles with the Cultists slowly take their toll on Kurt. Nothing too serious at first, but he gets a collection of cuts and minor injuries. And his right arm in particular is nearly broken at one point. Still, he insists on doing what he can and tries to stick to escorting others away from danger. His tail is as good an extra hand as any, after all.

On the fourth day (locked to Storm), he makes the mistake of teleporting into a Dream Shifter's range while en route to rendezvous with his teammates. She'll find herself in a world that has a very familiar resemblance to the stately Xavier estate. Kurt is rescued but remains out of commission for the rest of the day.

He manages to slip back into action for the last two days, with his injured arm bound. He'll once more try to stick to rescues and less direct methods of combating the enemy - but he's not ready to let his team down, at all.]

Day 2

[Hello, Kurt. Were you expecting to see a seven-foot freakish blade-covered monstrosity on one of the airships, tearing through the cultists like a food processor?

She doesn't seem particularly interested in leaving her opponents alive, for that matter.]

[Day 2 & 3]

[Syre rises as the alarm starts blaring, dressing and out the door in a matter of minutes.]

[This -- the fighting, the bloodshed, the seemingly never-ending foes -- is nothing new to her, having been drafted two times previously. She knows what is at risk, and she knows what she must do.]

[Syre treats this situation like the draft at Vaskoth -- she forgoes sleep, and eats and drinks only what she needs to. Assistance will be given to all that seem to be needing it, and, though she doesn't actively seek it out, she'll be grateful to any that want to want to offer aid.]

[Day 4 & 5]

[By this time, Syre is in full-out war mode; sleep is barely a thought in her mind, and she only drinks scarce amounts of water -- just enough to make sure that she won't pass out from dehydration.]

[Despite that, she still fights -- or attempts to fight -- as efficiently as she can, her rapier cleaving through whatever comes close and her alchemy aiding her in taking out distant foes.]

[Day 6]

[The fighting continues on. Syre, by this time, has accrued all manner of injuries, from light scratches on her person to what should have been lethal stabs; fortune and her alchemy are the only things that keep her standing at this point.]

[She knows she must treat her wounds proper, but her own stubbornness and her wartime mentality keep her from seeking medical attention. Clearly, she needs a voice of reason...]

Day 4

[Somewhere in the thick of the fighting, whilst attempting to find a safe spot for cover, Xander stumbles across Syre and her highly intimidating rapier - and will (confusingly) mistake her for someone he knows.]
