[She had seen battles like this before. Watched the propos used by both the Capitol and District 13. Witnessed the airstrikes up close in the middle of District 8. Been chased in the sewers of the Capitol by horrible lizard mutts.

It didn't make this any less tiring.

Katniss glanced at the girl's crossbow and frowned thoughtfully for a moment.] I didn't notice any crossbow arrows in the barracks.

[Then again, she didn't look.]

I brought some bolts with me, actually. They're small and easy to stock up on. [She holsters the small crossbow in her hip holster, then reaches back behind her to unfold her compound bow and holds it up.] My crossbow's the back-up. This is the one I typically use. It just uses normal arrows. And there was a bit of a supply, although not a lot. Apparently archers aren't much of a thing here. [Her lips quirk faintly at that as she lifts one shoulder in a shrug.] Who knew?

[Despite really only knowing one other archer here - now two - she had managed to collect a fairly decent amount of arrows. Christmas, especially, had added a near twenty-five to thirty new arrows to her quiver, what between friends and that Sana Caus or whoever he was bringing her the Mockingjay bow and associated arrows.

But the girl was right. Archers normally weren't all that common. Nor all that well supplied for during a draft.

Reaching back, she pulls a blue tipped arrow from her quiver and holds it out for the girl to see.] Talk to Sokka when you get back. He makes good equipment.

[That actually draws a laugh from her.] Yeah, I plan to. He actually gave me about half of what I have before the Draft. I'm hoping to pester him for some more when we're not in so much risk of dying. He seems like he makes some pretty quality stuff. [She says it with wry humor, because Sokka's proved to be an interesting acquaintance.]

[As she places the arrow back into her quiver, she nods. Even before she had befriended the boy, when she had just randomly obtained items from the blacksmith's shop without asking, she had noted the quality. He was a good hunter, too. One of the few Katniss actually was willing to hunt with here in Luceti.]

He does. I'd recommend it.

Thanks for the hint. [Artemis tucks her bow away again, since it's seemed to quiet around them for the moment.] I'm Artemis, by the way.

[She glanced around, double checking for herself that the fighting did indeed seem to die down around them. Feeling a little satisfied, she loosened her grasp on her bow. She doubted that the break would last. But for now, she'd savor it.

And even offer a slight smile.] Katniss.

Are you new here?

Relatively. [Artemis answers her with a crooked smile, hands propped on her hips.] A couple of weeks. Everything's still taking some adjusting, though. You?

[A couple of weeks. She couldn't imagine being sent on a draft after only being here a couple of weeks. It had been a couple of months for her and even then it had seemed much too soon. She had been unwilling and unready. And in the time that passed between that draft and this, that opinion hadn't changed.]

A year. I've been here for over a year now.
