There was a Shifter out there. He was well aware of it, but not where. Loki had a dagger, of course, but Logan was confident he could take a stabbing and walk away from it once the Shifter was gone. A few bullet holes wouldn't render Loki so lucky. He held the advantage.

"I should finish you off right now."

Loki on the other hand was fairly confident that if Logan wanted to kill him, he could make it a mutual thing. Though that was certainly a less than optimal solution. Even if death wasn't permanent, he didn't want a death penalty on top of everything else.

Loki raised an eyebrow. "And to what end? One less competent warrior on the draft? A misguided desire for revenge? Speak to Billy or Stark. They know what happened was no doing of mine. It seems a bit pointless, since I'd be back in a week and happy to point out that you murdered me for something I did not do. All's fair in war, but that generally does not apply to one's own side."

He decided to not point out for the moment that if Logan was also upset about Loki's relationship with Rogue, killing him would most certainly not stop that, either. The way psychology tended to operate, it would only drive her toward him.

"See, here's the trouble. I ain't seen Tony or Billy. I spent the last two weeks fighting these winged bastards. I was looking forward to a little R&R on account of the fact I ain't exactly having an easy time telling friend from foe. Though in your case, I know it definitely ain't the former."

He kept his gun trained on Loki, his finger twitching as if ready to fire. Then, at the last moment, his eyes darted to the right.

BANG. BANG.

Logan had quickly whirled around and shot the cultist that had been 'stealthily' trying to sneak up on them. It remained unclear whether Logan had heard the cultist coming- unlikely, given how quiet it had been, or if Logan had intentionally been baiting it using both himself and Loki as bait.

Through it all, Loki simply continued to watch Logan coolly. "Then perhaps you ought to, before acting in haste."

And he stayed in place when Logan turned to shoot, looking more relaxed if anything. This would do no good if he felt the need to run about trying to watch his back against supposed allies as well, and while he could flee now, it would only just put Logan in an excellent position to shoot him in the back. This, like so many other things, was a calculated move. "Are we quite done now? There is a Shifter nearby whose throat desperately wants to be slit."

Logan didn't turn back to look at Loki, which meant his reply would go unread: "Yeah, it's a real pleasure running into you too, bub."

That incident had been enough. Shifters were dangerous, but they needed protection. That cultist came from the building just across the street, which meant it was likely the Shifter was hiding somewhere in there. So ignoring Loki, Logan continued towards the building, eyes watching the windows for any sign of movement.

Loki let him go without further comment and then headed in the opposite direction. Tony, he would help in a fight, even if they were nominally enemies. Logan, he had no interest in being anywhere near. Maybe he'd be lucky and something untoward would happen to him.

Well, this would be a fun story to tell Rogue later. For certain values of fun.
