No. [Her answer is almost instantaneous as she tenses, hand tugging out her small crossbow as she too turns her gaze to searching their surroundings more intently.] Definitely not. You had to jinx us, didn't you?

Day Two

Jinx? Come on! I'm pretty sure I don't have that power-

[And then a group of Cultists swoop up from another side of the building and start descending towards them.]

You were saying?

[She spins, getting off a dart that lodged just a little off-center of where she'd wanted it. It still took the cultist down with a howl of pain, but he wasn't done for. She didn't have time to hesitate, however, drawing her larger bow back out and snapping it open as she started reaching for arrows.]

Just when you got me looking forward to marshmallows, too.

Day Two

I guess they're looking forward to it, too! Too bad we don't have enough for a powwow!

[It only takes a moment. He goes to teleport towards one of the Cultists... but nothing happens. He just trips and falls over, quickly shocked as he grasps what's happening.]

Oh no...

[He'd never been shifted before. But here he was, with the powers that were like second nature to him, now gone. And a Cultist swooping in for the kill.]

[Artemis spins when she hears him fall, even before she registers his gasped exclamation. She reacts even as her eyes are taking in the forward momentum of the Cultists, Kurt on the ground and under her aim. Her crossbow comes up with an urgent haste and the dart buries itself in the Cultist's throat, dropping him even as she reloads to take down the one behind him.]

What's wrong? Are you hurt?

[There's worry in her voice as she looses another dart, then reaches down to offer him a hand up because there's too many of them to take on her own. She didn't see any blood...]

Day Two

[He gasps at the Cultist being stricken in the throat, but he quickly leaps back. It's advantageous for him that he's still nimble and athletic, but he feels like he's at a distinct disadvantage without his teleportation.]

I'm okay. Thanks! But - my powers aren't working! It's... it's gotta be a shifter, somewhere!

[She groans in dismay because she was quickly learning to hate running up against Shifters. Not because she had any powers to lose, but just because they always seemed surrounded by other cultists and they were damned hard to kill.]

Great. Just what we needed.

[She reached for a specific arrow in her quiver and shot it as another group of cultists came around and corner into sight. The arrow exploded at their feet, sending up a thick cloud of dark smoke.]

I think that might be a good hint to find a more strategic place to do our fighting from.

Day Two

[He quickly rushes over to her side.]

Alright, let's move! [And he runs along the rooftop to find a better spot - and hopefully find any sign of the Shifter.]

Getting off this roof might be a good start. [She's quick to follow him, her gaze sweeping their surroundings, taking in nearby rooftops and other buildings close by. She spots a balcony at an adjoining building, and then eyes the space between the edge of their roof and the railing.]

...How good are you at jumping?

[He looks around nervously.]

Really good. And it's all natural! [Even with his teleporting blocked out, he still had his acrobatic prowess to fall back on.]

Good. Go. I'll cover you. [She motions to the balcony of the adjoining building. It's not an easy jump, but its doable, if you're careful. She's out of smokescreen arrows for the moment, but she has other tricks up her sleeve, drawing out an arrow in case their pursuers find them again before they're across.]
